All you straight edge kids really just make me hate hardcore now. It wasn't the same 10 years ago. Straight edge people where completely different at old school hardcore shows. Now all these 17 year olds think theyre tough and independent because theyre straight edge...most of them almost always start drinking and smoking weed when they age about 2 years. I'm not disrespecting straight edge and I've never been straight edge but I've always been a hardcore fan.

You are so right! I mean, when you make that promise to yourself, you need to be very sure of it, cause it's for the rest of your life. I think way to many "scene kids" are edge cause they want to be cool and stuff.. I'm not edge, and I made that decision, cause I couldn't promise myself such a thing. A lot of other kids don't stand still with that decision.

Now I feel like hardcore shows are trendy fashion shows its not the same theres no pile ups no anything. Indeed. But I must say, I just got in to hardcore (a year and a half or something). And it really changed my way of thinking and treating people, but that doesn't mean I have to become edge right? Today when I go to a hardcore show, there are way to many though guy kids, who really are there to hurt people. I mean come on guys, where is the passion and where is the emotion? I think that's the real meaning of hardcore.. Not smashing other people on the ground.

Its ok to do what you're gonna do in the pit but people use these shows to purposely start trouble which often ends in the band leaving early/venue getting shut down/ or other problems. They obviously don't care about the music they want an excuse to fight. They also can't respect the older hardcore fans which is what it was about, also bands like victory have sold out for the big man as well and this doesn't help tour bookings ect.

They ditched all their hardcore bands and started signing bands like taking back sunday, hawthorne heights, and silverstien when they sold out to all the old school bands that were on their label to capitalize and still had hardcore bands but they werent promoting them. You'd get a victory demo at a show that was all screamo and it used to be hatebreed,warzone, earth crisis all kinds of hardcore bands. People give in to that mass market.

If you think about it, most hardcore bands don't last more than 3 years. The Suicide File and Modern Life Is War come to mind. But, bands like Bane and Ceremony are keeping on and that's great.
