  • I use kodak zx1 with SD 2GB card and can record only around 20 min video but I should around 40 min in HD30 (stiil power supply). What's wrong?

  • what kind of the memory to have the kamera?

  • @yeArbboy the cam takes an SD card. I'd recommend at least a 8 GB card.

  • how's it hold up to heat? cuz it will be out in 90 degree [farenheight] weather alot?

  • These flip-looking camera's are not my type. I prefer a bigger screen. In my opinion, it's better than the Flip Mino.

  • i have this camera and i like it the only problem is even with a fully chareg battery the video usually stops recording after 30 seconds making it impossible to recored long scenes

  • @Qinton123 That doesn't sound right does it? Have you contacted customer support? Let me know if I can help.

    Thx for your comment.

  • Hey, I really need advice asap as I'm making a video for a friend leaving tomoro - how can I get the audio to match the visual? It seems to out of sync by a couple of seconds too fast :s

  • @MackyBea hey macky, are you pulling the video into editing software or straight from the camera to DVD, CD, etc?

  • would the videos work straight up in sony vegas pro 9?

  • @ecbfilms001 we haven't tested it on that platform but our initial guess it that the video format would be compatible.

  • what format does it record to? (avi mov mp4) and does the remote come in the box or is it a separate purchase? because i don't really want to have to convert it for windows movie maker (coz re-encoding and converting looses quality)

  • Comment removed

  • @ThePyroProduction it records .mov files - the remote is a separate purchase.

  • ya u can

  • @allstarkrew1

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and yes there is a tri-pod port for the camcorder ..

  • try the Kodak Zi8 much better :-).. Trust me..

  • yes u can bad thing is that its take AA battery

  • @allstarkrew1 yes, there is a tripod mount on the bottom.

  • Hi, I'm from Argentina, and I'll buy one of this very soon.

I wanna know how much time can I record with a 4 gb SD card.

Or I need a higher SD card?

    Thanks you.

  • about 2 hours for that

  • te compraste la camra me la recomendas saludos desde tucuman !!!!!

  • si

    esta genial!

    comprala

  • Would videos from this work straight away in Windows Movie Maker? Or would you need to convert them first?

  • Yes, you need to convert them to work in Movie Maker.

  • Ouch! And it doesnt come with it's own editing software either?

  • Yes, it does come with editing software right on the device.

  • which one is better at hd videos>?

    zx1 or zi6?????

  • good question - even Kodak`s agents can't answer it - they`re saying "they are pretty the same". Damn...

  • the HD recording aspect is pretty much the same on both the Zi6 and the Zx1. They both shoot 720p at 60 or 30 fps. The differences are the Zx1 is smaller and weather proof. The Zi6 has a pop out USB and close up mode and the Zx1 doesn't.

  • can it take pictures?

  • Yes it can take 3MP still images.

  • yes, 3mp

  • this thing will not work with a 32gb card, you will NEVER GET 10 HRS IF VID ON THIS UNIT, PURE BS.

  • OH NO!!! YOU MEAN I ACTUALLY HAVE TO CARRY 2 ,16GB CARDS!!!!??!!?, but there SO FUCKING HEAVY!!!OH NOES!

  • its not that!

wtf, why not tell the truth, now i have to send the card back, i have had the unit for 2 wks, spent hrs fucking with the card, all for what----TELL THE TRUTH KODAK

  • what company made the card? was it a specifically designed SDHC cardfor movies?

  • This is a nightmare, run away. I replaced mine and donating it to a thirift store.

  • Can i see videos,

wich are made by the zx1?

  • I just posted some Zx1 sample videos to the Kodak Channel last week.

  • Where can you find a remote for the Zx1

  • Yeh, I've been trying to figure that out too. How does the company that makes it not have it?

  • You would think that Kodak would at least let you know where to get a remote if they do not intend on making one.

  • Sorry - Kodak will have the remote, but it's not available yet.

  • the sd 32gb is it with it?

  • No, you have to buy it separately.

  • i just bought my zx1 and i've been trying to figure out where the macro button is. It's got macro right? i cant find it in the manual wither

  • No, sorry. The Zi6 has macro but the Zx1 does not.

  • looks like a filp mino

  • I was thinking about getting a Flip Video, but I was concerned about the video and audio quality. Someone suggested this camera and so far, I like what I hear, but who knows. Good video and audio quality is so hard to find for some reason.

  • Does anyone know the actual release date? I know it's coming out in April, but what day?

  • The Zx1 will be for sale on QVC on April 19th. It's on pre-order on the Kodak website right now.

  • what's better zxi or zi6???

  • The answer completely depends on you, your lifestyle and your video needs.

The Zx1 is weather-resistant with rubberized ports and a more rugged body to help keep out splashes and sand.

  • there are more differences???

  • please help me out, i was wondering about the waterproof seals on this camera; if you have to replace them like every year or so? because i just found out my olympus waterproof camera has to get the seals replaced every year so, so that water wont get in.

  • the Zx1 is weatherproof... not waterproof. That means it will be protected against water sprays... not immersion.

  • alright, thats fine. but whatabout the rubber seals, do i have to send the camera every once in a long while to get them replaced? because something has to keep the rain/snow/dust out :P

  • Ok... so I asked and the Zx1 folks and they say that there is no need to replace the seals. Note that it also comes with a one year warranty.

  • okay, thats good. but thanks a lot. i want to get this camera so bad now, do you know when it will hit stores?

  • Look for it the second half of April!

  • gah! why so long hahah. but alrighty, thanks for answering all my questions :D

  • Amazon advertises it as not released until the middle of May. Do you know where I can purchase this camera before may 15th?

  • You can pre-order the Zx1 on Kodak's website now and also it will be for sale on QVC on April 19th!

  • this is exactly what a handheld cam should be. sdhc card slot, removable battery, and 720p @ 60fps

  • man, its such a hard decision. This or the flip mino HD! i don't like the z16's quality, it skips frames a lot! Do you know if the zx1 skips frames as much, if its the same then i have to go for the mino HD, but its not weatherproof or has a average screen.

  • I have not seen a video with skipping frames - if you have seen a sample on one please let me know.

  • Is there a firmware update from the Zi6? I've heard there are dropped frames in low lighting, and I don't know if I should get the Zx1 if the problem wasn't addressed.

  • If you have seen a sample of a video with this problem online, I would like to get a link to it... we haven't seen this problem in a video yet.

  • I have only when you upload it on the internet

  • I have a quick question. Will the Zx1 be any better in low lighting than the Zi6? I want to get a camera but don't really want to wait until April, but if the Zx1 does better in low light I'll wait.

I don't care about the weatherproofing or the HDMI...

  • From what I can tell on the official Kodak website, it states "Get great videos in bright light or low light" as a feature now. Also shows a video clip of it in a dark nightclub! Hope it is an improvement, as that was one point that held me back...and also the size of the Zi6 was a tiny bit big. No marco feature, but it's HD with 2x digi zoom...so what the hell that'll do! Weatherproofing is a great bonus which makes you take it out more often I guess. Can't wait!

  • Will it be able to connect to the new MacBooks? It has limited ports so I'm worried it won't be compatible with my MacBook...

  • The software it comes with doesn't work on the Mac but the Zx1 works fine with the Mac, it shows up as a drive and you can drag the videos right off. I use the Zi6 with my Macbook all the time! It's great because it makes .mov files, perfect for Quicktime and iMovie.

  • So i also have a macbook (new one)and i really want this camera for youtube so will i need a SD port or how will it upload, i did not quite understand you response.

  • You just flip out the USB connection on the Zi6 and stick it in one of your macbook's USB ports. The Zi6 then shows up on your desktop and you can drag the .mov files to your computer.

  • right but i am talking about hte ZX1

  • Oh, the Zx1 comes with a USB cable instead of the flip out USB connection. And it mounts as a drive just as the Zi6 does.

  • Thats Great!!!! Thanks for the info you guys are really helpfull. Now I cant wait till this comes out in April

  • Zx1 has no Macro mode... Im looking forward to buy the Zi6 ! what do you think ?

  • Which is better, the Zi6 or the Zx1?

  • One is not better than the other, they are just different. If you want a larger viewing screen, an easy pop out usb connections and close up mode then the Zi6 is for you. If you want something smaller, rugged and can use a remote control then the Zx1 is your camera.

  • Any Zx1 sample videos out? How does it compare to the Zi6 in video quality?

  • I don't have any Zx1 sample video yet, but when I do I will post them.

  • How durable is the Zi6?

  • While the Zi6 is not weather proof like the Zx1 mine has been through a lot! I def would not take it out in the rain though. Since the Zx1 doesn't have the flip out USB it would prob be okay in the rain.

  • I was looking for my own small video camera and i found it! Although if i dropped it in water, or went swimming with it, would it work???

  • I wouldn't try that! It is weather-resistant not waterproof.

  • Oh..Ok! Good to know! might get another one but im liking this one

  • Whats all the diffrence with the Zi6?

  • It's just packaged smaller to compete with the Flip pocket cams.

  • It's also water resistant and takes slightly better stills than the Z16 and doesn't have a built in USB arm.

  • The Zx1 is 30% smaller, weather-resisitant body, has an HDMI connection and cable included and will work with an optional remote.

  • Do you know if and why they removed the Macro Feature on the Zx1. It was a nifty feature to record small details. Can you respond when you get the chance.

  • The Zx1 just has a different feature offering. It is more for people that are in rugged circumstances like playing sports etc... that's why it has a weather proof body.

  • what type of files are the videos made in? Like .avi? or h.264? or what?

  • the files it creates are .mov

  • thanks

  • are you serious, i didn't get it because a couple reviews said it was having many incompatibility issues!!!

are you telling me this thing is ready made for macs?

    .mov right?

  • Yes, I use it with my iMac and MacBook all the time. It's only the editing software that isn't mac compatible. It mounts on the mac as a drive and I drag the .mov files right onto my desktop and import in to iMovie! Works great!

  • /facepalm ... that 60fps was pretty important.

i got the sony webbie @30fps ... i might have to return it.

  • Can't wait till that comes out. I'm glad I didn't buy the normal Zi6 now! Looks like an awesome camera.

  • I'm soooo glad I returned my Zi6 a couple weeks ago! Now I can get this when it comes out. Did you get any video on the new Z980?

  • i know that cam is awesome

  • Was this video shot with the Kodak Zi6?

  • Yes, I used a Zi6 to record the video.

  • omg that camera is like the zi6 except flip mino hd like

  • Cheaper too. But there's a catch; no built in memory.

  • Most people like the removable SD card feature... when you fill up a card, just put in another... you don't have to go and download.

  • I have no problems with removable SD I like it quite a bit. Thanks Kodak.
