  • @GrowlingManiac yup ur right :P

  • amazing modeling and rigging

    what is the song guys

  • @glaisser Thanks! The sound for this video was created by VFS Sound Design students Eli Costello and Liam Wong. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool what program did you use to animate your awesome characters

  • @utapau235 Our students typically use Maya and/or XSI in the 3D Animation & Visual Effects program. Thanks!

  • greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat video

    what is the song guys

  • OMG that rig... Insane

  • those rigs are really sick!

  • that rig! I so want to touch it! XD

  • test

  • nice work!

  • What kind of render app did you use? maya mentalray? renderman?

  • amazing rig

  • Modeling reel, but whats with the texture maps. Still great models.

  • great stuff

  • gosh i think thats the first time i've seen someone animate the character on the turntable. i love it.

  • I wish i could do that.

  • lol rig testing can be really weird

  • Excellent modeling and even better rigging. I strongly suggest showing off your rigging abilities earlier. I would transition right into the the rigging features before you go into the texture maps. Just my two cents, keep up the good work!

  • what i love about your work is that it works! most people just have static models... ...your gonna get hired straight away i bet!

  • well done, like the music!

  • very impressive...

  • Awesome work especialy the first one...

How did you make that bone system , that when you move the torso of the animal the guy riding it acts aproprietly? did you use a special software for it? im using 3ds max now... but i never seen such a badass bone structure before... good job... and pls tell me how. :D

  • I love it. I'm so jealous.

  • Incredible work, nice one!

  • this modeling reel as animation 3d is very good , congratulations ,i like it ,

also me like the 3d program maya to do it

  • Can you guys tell me the best animation software..and comparison between Maya..Zbrush..3ds Max..and tell me about other software too..I like to use the best software cos I want make the best animation...I'm so new in this animation thing and I want to to learn more about it..Help me guys.!

  • It's not the tools that make the animation its the artist, ofcourse they help but in the end it's all about the skill of the artists, I mean a good artist with crappy software can probably make better animations than a crappy artist with good tools.

Anyway what I have been told is that maya is better for animation, Zbrush is for creating lots of detail and 3dsmax is used by many game studios, but in the end it's all about what software does for you the trick, not which 1 is best.

  • ok basically 3d studio max is best for complex scenes, rendering, animations and general modeling of hardbody (inorganic) things. Maya excels in softbody (organic) modeling and animation. zbrush is used by both to create complex and detailed maps (texture/displacement) which reduce polygon counts for rendering but give realism to models.

maya or 3dmax is up to each person, personally i like max, more structured and im more used to autodesk thinking.

  • Maya is autodesk software. Maya handles all of the stuff you listed for 3D max perfectly. Its not only good at organic modeling and animation

  • one of the best modelling and animation i've seen from VFS, simply great mate, i wish i could do that. I have a question though, how do you go about unwrapping the textures, do you use a program to auto generate a UVW map for you or do you do it yourself? if you do it yourself could you give a link or something to a good tutorial, Thanks

  • Hey there are two good ways to really uv something. If you want speed but it will have a small about of stretching use a plugin for maya called pelting tool by a guy name sunkit i think. Anyway its great stuff. If you want it to be the least amount of stretching possible, use planer maps of sections that flow todether well. Do this in medium sized chunks like maybe abs then pecs and such. Then place them in there respectful postitions and sew/ stich the conecting edges. Simple just annoying.

  • cool thanks mate, do you have any links to tutorials on your technique you mentioned using planer maps?

    Thanks

  • unbelievable

  • dude the riggin 4 moosah & chub is amaizin hw long did it take?

  • hello from scad.... dude, that moosah is the coolest rig, awesome

  • "Yomama the samurai." You have no idea how much fun it is to say that out loud. Made me laugh. And by the way, nice animation!

  • If you guys can't land a job, I'm screwed.

  • AWSOME, totally great, im still new to 3Ds MAX, Maya and Zbrush, but i'll get better, im going to a modeling school next year, Hope ill do something as cool as that, WHATS THE SONG?

  • i loved it nice job ive looked at some reels today and i think yours is top notch

  • I think you should have included attacking animations for the first one. Amazing Job!

  • this guy is gd man! esp the textures. XD

  • Dude! ur really good..

    awesome demo reel...

  • what program did you use?

  • Dude, you rock! I seriously wish I was a rigger sometimes. Awesome job!

  • Million of times, scary!!!!!

    Excellent job!!!!

  • As a 3D hobbyist I think your work is absolutely top notch. Excellent work!

  • thats pretty kick ass man. THe rigging was really impressive, what program are you using?

  • Ten out of ten! Adam Scott is my hero. You're up with Loic Zimmerman now!

  • great stuff, very detailed models - great rigging, I went to school in 2000/2001 and the student reels don't even compare to what you guys are doing at VFS.

Maya was just being taught when I enroled at AIE and the teacher lied about working at animal logic, and by about two weeks into the course we surpassed his knowledge of maya, and ended up teaching ourselves which is usually the best way to go, but it would have been a speedier process if we had a qualified tutor

  • great!

  • I wonder if you use dynamics in the case of the big beast and his rider?

  • fantastic :)

  • Respect! This goes straight to my favorites. This school of yours seems to educate some kick ass artists!

  • the first one will be nice for some mmorpg games like wow

  • awesome, the xtra movements during the turntable really bring it to life. very good subject matter too.

  • These models are great
