I was enjoying this newsreel, until it showed that scum Hitler. But anyway, it must've been a relief for the u-boat crew to shave off those incredible beards.

@orbits2 Water was at a very restricted premium on the U-boats. There was only one toilet in use for approximately 50 men also.

Anybody wants to read a great book or 2 read Iron Coffins By Herbert Warner. Or 10 Years and 20 Days. The memoris of Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz. Out of 842 U-Boats 779 went to the botton during the war. These are must reads for U-Boat fans.
