I assume you`ve heard Don Reno`s version. He didn`t use them either but pushed the strings aside above the nut for the same effect; an incredible musician.
Thank you very much for the nice comment. By the way, Ben has only been playing the dobro 2 years. You would never guess that he was a professional caliber hard-core heavy metal lead guitarist before I met him! His dobro playing absoltely makes this song!

Yeah, D tuners are such a hassle! But you flat-out have to really hammer the strings with your right hand if you try to play it without the tuners.
