Hmm, I guess spriting implies lots of slightly bewildered looks from the neighbourhood gentry, right...?
Looks kinda silly with this big, strong bloke flailing all sorts of plastic toys in screaming colors around, seemingly trying his best to look big, bad and monstrous... XD
This game is gonna be fun, I cant wait for you guys to finish it. Dont rush it though, game making is a long process and the more time you take the better product you will create. Keep the videos coming their awesome. You guys seem to be having alot of fun making this game, if the game is half that much fun it will be a very cool game.
PLEASE do not make a 3D game. Too many people only think games are good if they are 3D. If you guys do want to start on 3D then try some 3D cut scenes. By making 2D you can work harder on the game and help prove that 2D is just as fun (hope you guys port it over to ps3!)
Well I agree. Even though they said thios is their first game, since its 2d top down shooter, I believe they can make it. Even though they may look like a joke at first, realize that their ambitions are good enough to reach, but no too high that they'll give up.
"impossible" is a bad choice of words.. If a game was developed in XNA and sold well for PC and 360 someone could go to the trouble of porting it.. it might not be easy but I wouldn't say "impossible"
dude i gotta say good work.....ratzidied is raccist and.....why not work harder and more to make a 3d game or do u wanna test a 2d game first.....brbrbrbr...excuse me......i farted
oh we not dissin or nothin...we accually supportin....we think that if u made a multi game it wud sell....i'd buy it...if u had this game and 4 other games to go with it in one package it wud be cool like the namco meuseum and midway treasures.....
Alright, thanks! That works. And no I don't need the gun. I'm just gonna place whatever gun he's holding in there anyway.
And yeah the roll is the only thing I need for sure, cuz I can't Jesse to do that. But I may want to have more reference images later, but for now, just the roll =]
Thanks for the videos, they are hilarious! and kudos for having the confidence to embark on a project in spite of not knowing your head from your ass, i suppose "just doing it" is the best way to learn. incidentally assuming you are a good game designer based on the fact that you have played games is equivalent to saying " I can be a great doctor because I interact with people every day! "
its cool seeing you guys actually gettin nice comments which i think is now because you (well i always thought you wer coool n not like over serious Haha) but you seem alot more mature n more like game developers.
So yeah hope it works out well n good luck for the compatition :)
Hey just a quick question, have you guys played, "Xeno Arena" on Xbox live community? It looks pretty much identical to the game you've been developing, at least with the clips you've shown in your videos.
Yeah me and Jesse played it the other night. We immediately agreed it's terrible. Many things wrong with the controls. It does look a lot like our game though.
LOL, I never saw this episode before! When I was in High school use to make first person shooters using claymation done with digitized stills. Wish I could run them in Vista... *sigh* But, yeah thanks for the message we are also looking forward to the Dream it Build Competition. So I suppose you're guy's deadline is the same as ours, August 6th? See you there and may the best game win!
Lol. Well I made three full length FPS claymation games back then... But that was in Win 95-98. No compatibility with XP or Vista. So they are forever locked on their old school zip disks. Heck the file format for the art was .VGA and .VGR a format long since dead. Yeah our goal is to have just episode 1 ready for the competition. It was meant to be done in installments anyway :)
Cuz then we would have to significantly improve our modeling and animation skills. We barely have any experience at all in that apart from a couple classes...

They won't port shit. They're coding in XNA, which can only be used for Xbox and Windows.

aka the two important systems.

they want to port to mac.

A ps3 port would be impossible, there using XNA.

Ha. Ok.
Um, yeah, we're not good enough 3d modelers to go 3D. And 2d is easier, and this our first game, so yeah.

Well the game doesn't have to be finished to enter it in, just need something submittable, or "content complete" as I believe they say.
And the claymation FPS sounds pretty awesome. That needs to happen.

we r only 15 and are struggling
how hard is it?
shall we give up?

No. Never give up. If it's too hard, then make an easier game first. That's what we're doing.

Why don't you render and animate it in 3D and create spritesheets from it? The import process would be a lot more precise and easier

I would just put the reference video footage in to the game, including the funny colored guns.
lol =)
Put simply something green on the floor, make screenshots from initial keyframes and paint it over.
Good to see you guys making progress!
