Death metal and other extreme metal is the holy grail of nihilism. Hence the title of the subgenre. Root word: death. Only death is real my friend.

Hip hop and nu rock are only meant to be cool and trendy. Superficial ideals just so you can consume a product. "Come see dog, I gots dem new adidas" as fred durst would put it. Even if a band is singing about something meaningful, it still has the cocky posteuring that hip hop has. "Grab my nuts, sing/rap on rhythm, I'll triumph in the end lyrics" ad nauseum... And on top of that, the music is just simplistic as rap. Verse/chorus crap. Hip hop pushes buttons to make music. Metal is played live.
