Me and my friends had a discussion about the quality of this animated feature. I always wondered why didn't somebody produce an animated version of X-Men during the 1980s. The animated talent was abundant back then.
@Heterogenius1 That's because most of the animation of American cartoons in the 80's was done by Japanese artists ... just look at the credits of G.I. Joe, the Transformers, Galaxy Rangers, Visionaries, etc., etc. When X-men first premiered on FoxKids in 1991, I was appalled at the inferior quality of the artwork (non-Japanese) and animation although, being a fan of the X-men comics as a child in the 80's, I was compelled to watch, anyway.
I don't remember this being on for very long, which seems a shame since it was one of the better looking shows in daily syndication. Just looking at the ninja at the beginning, there's a good amount of detail on his uniform and sword, even if it wasn't as smooth as it could've been
@yuhcgte Tangent: I once hurt my ankle so badly I couldn't walk without experiencing agonising pain for the rest of the evening (I had to sleep on the living room sofa and then use a stick for a while after that) while dancing to the Eurovision Song Contest. Anyway, I strongly disagree with other posters saying that cartoons today are terrible, there are quite a few I love, but having just discovered Bionic Six I think it is also very good, I wish they'd release it on DVD.
the people in Saudi Arabia, especialy the ones born after 1975 appreciate this cartoon, makes us remember the afternoons during the summer vacation with the AC on, and singing بايونيك بايونيك سيكس اوووو اوووووه
hahaha, gosh this reminds me of days when I would pretend to be the Bionic bunch! lol.. jumping off my bed and breaking stuff and getting my family mad by doing so! lol.. good times good times!
Most of if note all 80's cartoon themes kick ass. I only saw this show a couple times on the Sci-Fi Channel during its Animation Station, but I loved the song.
the animation for this series was done by TMS (tokyo movie shinsha), they also developed the animation for akira, and was outsourced the animation for the 90s spiderman television show. looking back, i can see the similarities in the artwork.
and aged cheese tastes good. Seriously speakingwhether YOU like it or not you will never get people to "repent" of their fondness of the caroons of their childhood.
Not everyone is a elitist snob. Not all cartoons have to be so sophisticated like Batman TAS or Animaniacs or Eva. (three shows on my all time animated faves list)
Well your a fuckwit arnt you? he asked why isnt it being made anymore & I pointed out it was really dated.& if you dont beleive it isnt then ill leave you to your leg warmers & casio electric drum kit & let you curl up in your steve Urkel sleeping bag when finished. I never told him to repent liking it & I never said it was a bad thing I pointed out being froma diffrent time would mean this show probably wouldent work. You obviosuly have a big fucking opion of yourself talking down to me likethat
Actually, the ninetees was the hallmark of cartoon cheese! We saw eco-friendly/moral message cartoons (like Captain Planet) become the norm! Even G.I. Joe went green. American Animation got a little better (some like X-men & Exosquad went full "comic book style" as opposed to the hybrid American/Comic/Anime style of visionaries, G.I. Joe-both of which were very well animated-etc). We had Celebrity cartoons like "Hammer time" and that Sports all stars? w/ Wayne Gretzsky. Not to mention the
fact that congress & the various watchdog committees (here in the U.S.) began limiting how many/and the type of cartoons that could be shown. The late 90's, is also when you started seeing remakes of the great 80's shows, many of them terrible. We also got to see the best of Anime Cheese. Such godawful cartoons as Sailor moon.
Wow, ok so I know I am way to old to enjoy this (I say this as i sing "were so very proud to be a super future fsmily") but is it just me...or does this bring a tear to anyone elses eye. I miss voltron, I miss GI joe, I really miss HE-Man and SHE-ra....and by gum it, I miss The Bionic six ( I would mention Go bots and Jem...but you get my meaning) I am in mourning ...for my childhood!
I am totally with you there Diva! It brings tears to my eyes too, knowing that Saturday mornings arent the same anymore for this 70's 80's girl. I used to LOVE to get up early on saturday to watch .. the SMURFS, Dungeons and Dragons, Kidd Video, etc. I miss those days :(
I wish I did. I used to tape these episodes religiously when I was growing up. I think I long since erased them :( I do know I have a coupel of episodes scattered somewhere on old tapes. This was something that I found OL a few years back. I have the whole episode.
