Australia DID indeed have soldiers in this war. They were the initiators of the "Tunnel Rats", and many a fine Aussie fell there.
You are correct though; this movie was not about that. It was following one of the first battles fought by US troops in Vietnam in 1965. Just after this took place there was a MAJOR escalation of US troops by the Johnson Administration.

As the title "We were soldiers" implies, the movie only tells part of the story "We were soldiers once...and young". More American propaganda.

ok just so everybody is on the same page We Were Soldiers was about the first major battle between the United States Military and the North Vietnamese army in 1965 the Australians had absolutly nothing to do with that war and would never fight us because they have close ties to Britian and Britian is our closest ally JayBayBay12345 is right and they would never mess with the US I honestly don't know how anyone thought it was Japan and Austrilia

Slight correction.
Australia DID indeed have soldiers in this war. They were the initiators of the "Tunnel Rats", and many a fine Aussie fell there.
You are correct though; this movie was not about that. It was following one of the first battles fought by US troops in Vietnam in 1965. Just after this took place there was a MAJOR escalation of US troops by the Johnson Administration.

In reality, his name and that of al-Qaeda were largely unknown to intelligence forces around the world. Saudi Arabia had asked American to assassinate bin Laden on separate occasions, but he was considered a "wealthy nuisance, not a mortal threat" by the United States. You should read The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11 by Lawrence Wright.

As a soldier in the U.S army I would greatly appreciate the trashtalk against our government and military to not make an appearance on my videos. I personally am proud to fight for my country. Honestly, I think it's a good cinema production. For once they finally got the use of the code words "Broken Arrow" right. I'm just wondering how, given it's account being half the book , Hal Moore could allow the LZ Albany massacre left unaddressed by films end. The NVA policed the battle-field and killed wounded Americans as they lay screaming for mercy. The LZ Albany ambush is studied tirelessly by Marine and Army Officer candidates, yet goes without even a footnote here. Propaganda.

Huh? No. Choosing to create films about past wins is one of the most popular propaganda devises used. During the Winter of 1942, the Russians produced a film recounting the 1743 win over the Teutonic (that would be German) raiders from the West. It was played in theaters to galvanize nationalistic resolve to again take on the invading Germans. I agree with your analysis of B.O.B. They aren't leaving off huge chunks of bad news in that series. They tell the whole story.

During the darkest days of WWII both Russia and Germany relied heavily on the media, and more specifically the cinema, to broadcast their messages of glorifying themselves and dehumanizing their opponents. I'm glad you are willing to continue with rational discourse with me on this which proves you have a good mind. But, movies like this are never, "Just" movies. Yes, Galloway and Moore did supervise the technical aspects of this film. They did get the explosions and uniforms right.

Funny how the screen writer was SOOOO interested in "getting it right" that he only told the story of the first third of the the book "We were soldiers once...and young". What the film fails to tell us is the massacre of the US soldiers at LZ Albany a day later. The 2nd 7th was ambushed while marching to a second pick-up landing zone. It was a route. As the title "We were soldiers" implies, the movie only tells part of the story "We were soldiers once...and young". More American propaganda.
