  • @dicemansr77 thanks for the comment and I defiantly see you point of view.

  • Many of you are asking why military personal, cops, firemen etc... Get to handle auto blades and guns and civilians don't. Well for one thing law enforcement do things that require having these tools civilians dont. A good example is in the middle east if a soldier has just a single fire gun how will he/she even stand a chance against AK-47s. Civilians aren't usually up to automatic assault rifles so they don't need automatics. Also if you want an automatic blade just get assisted opening there j

  • @penguinparker7 I agree with some of your argument, although a "switchblade" versus an "auto assist" with one being legal and the other not is a ridiculous distinction. Its an absurdity in the law that defies logic.

  • can you do a comparison video? of the knives in ths video and some flick knives.

  • i like the design of the FAST but its a major let down...i wish they atleast used AUS8 blade steel and i wish it opened faster...overall I dont think its worth the cash, i will go with the SOG Trident.

  • This video is popular on El Salvador

  • Yeah I think the switchblade laws are stupid, but exactly why do you think you deserve to be exempt just because you are military? How does that make you special? I'm not picking on you, I don't think cops, EMS, or firefighters should be exempt from any laws either. Cops should have to get CC permits just like anyone else if they are off duty. Nor should they get any special privileges when it comes to class III weapons.

  • @zacthebold Special? What are you getting at? I'm neither Military nor Law Enforcement any more - but my boys and girls in green and blue ARE "special," and some of the "perks" include driving fast, handling automatic weapons, killing people lawfully, and getting shot at. I don't know if this is what you're getting at or not... Personally, I find switchblade laws to be ridiculous across the board - but at a minimum, public servants, military, and CC permit holders should be exempt.

  • @dicemansr77 They aren't special when they are off duty. They have a job, they aren't a special class of entitled people. At least I don't think they should be. Driving fast and handling automatic weapons on the job is fine and makes sense, but it should be left at work. I also think switchblades should be 100% legal, so should full auto firearms. But exempting a special group isn't relaxing the law, it's empowering it. The law is too big already. Two wrongs don't make a right.

  • @zacthebold Yes, they are "special" when they are off duty. I don't know what your experience in or with law enforcement consists of, but given the frequency that off duty cops are called on to assist on duty officers or are found in positions requiring action despite being off duty, I see nothing wrong with some statutory exceptions in favor of these individuals. And, with you on switchblades, not on auto firearms...

  • @dicemansr77 Hmm... never heard of an off duty cop being called in when he is totally off duty, only when he is "On call". That could constitute as being on duty. Why would they be anymore likely to find themselves in a dangerous situation (off duty) than a civilian? If a cop goes in a bank that happens to get robbed he can hit the floor like the rest of us. If we have to be helpless so should he. Even if what you say is true it only applies to LE and not military, EMS, and firefighters.

  • @zacthebold I'm sure that it isn't the "norm," but some smaller departments in rural areas only have a small handful of LEOs in the community (or even the entire county). Years back (locally) there was a jail break - dispatch called (via cell phone) all off duty and reserve LEOs to assist in the search. In a handful of minutes there were a dozen armed off duty cops crawling all over the surrounding blocks and found the inmate hiding under a parked vehicle. Anecdotal story, but an example.

  • @zacthebold Also, I am opposed to any restriction on switchblade knives - public servants or not - same as you.

  • @dicemansr77 Well I've given my two cents, I think we can agree to disagree.

  • i have the 06 fast, and the safety on the 06 fast seems better than the 06 auto's, i mean, backwards for hot and forwards for safety? seems counter-intuitive.

  • If you think that your local knife laws are bad, check out English knife laws.

  • @czarjam Technically when you do that it's a gravity knife, in other words, still a switchblade. They just need to get rid Of the stupid law in general, it's outdated

  • Thats Rancid in the background off their newest album. Verdict: You do good work. I carry the military version, USMC and all. It does good work. Heavy, but insanely rugged.

  • @Jimmy46E Thanks Jimmy! And, I agree with you re: the ruggedness. I'm no longer working in law enforcement and am now out of the military - even so, this is a great utility knife and I use mine often for this, that and the other.

  • Pull the spring out of one of your 06s and you can just flip it open when you press the button. I pulled my springs for shipping back from Afghanistan. Makes it legal to use whats familiar...put them back in when you redeploy. I got my second one from a Hadji shop at Alamo for $20.

  • So where is the best place to get the american version of this knife. I think academy only offers the FAST version.

  • @AnthonHarvey18 Great Video btw

  • @AnthonHarvey18 I got one of mine on eBay, the other from a website called allsparetools. They're tough to find.

  • I understand that their are similarities between the 2 knives. However, gerber isn't stopping production on the 06 auto(as it is one of their best sellers). The 06 fast is worth the $50 you pay for it. The 06 auto(though more expensive) is also worth every penny.

  • is the FAST version bigger because in the video i does look slightly bigger

  • @imachku Its more substantial - a bit thicker - but overall length is the same.

  • do they make a plain edge version of any of these? I just don't ever need them.

  • @mrlaserguy2 Not that I'm aware of, although I wish they did.

  • How did you score a auto on eBay?

  • @MarkTyler84 Shady seller, the best I can figure.

  • why do you want those knives?such a waste of money, my knives are so much better and I paid so much little for them

  • whatever i carry mine every day

  • Great revew thanks

  • just proves that Chinese created materials suck

  • @guccitothemax no ... it proves that companies searching for more profit over quality sucks

  • Can you post a video about reassembling the American military version?

  • @PsychoReptar Never took mine apart...

  • I just recived my Chinese version today. I am sooo bummed that it is made in China. My buddy has the American made (he is military) and it is much more nicer.

  • im movin to new hampshire there is no laws against them there in my state i can own them as a collector but cant carry them

  • @alwaysmrknifeguy well, i live in mass. and it is illegal to own an auto here, not sure about new hampshire, just use it like a reg knife, dont tell anybody or let anybody know, . they wont find out.. HAHA

  • There is also a MANUAL version of the 06 auto sold by many stores. made in the USA with s30v steel. Blade has a thumstud and the plunger is only used for closing.

    Google it, "gerber 06 manual".

  • how can u get a 06 auto

  • So what states allow the switchblade type like this?

  • @WatchRyder Do a quick Google search - you'll find that info. There are several. Try this link: w w w .amatecon.com/switchblade.html

  • @dicemansr77

    Thanks Diceman!

  • @dicemansr77 In Texas you may drive with a loaded rifle next to you and a loaded pistol under seat but you can not have an auto knife....just ridiculous. A buddy of mine brought an issued one back home and it is the only auto i have ever liked, but i keep passing them up when they come around...someday I’ll budge, but I just cant get past Striders right now.

  • @JPCinDrock Thats about how we are here in Montana as well. Its illogical.

  • @JPCinDrock you guys need to move to the southeast, we can carry a loaded gun and knife. I haven't had any trouble with open carrying here, ever.

  • @WatchRyder Here in California you CAN carry switchblades BUT the BLADE MUST BE AT OR UNDER 2 INCHES

  • @Bless1995

That kind of defeats the object...

  • @WatchRyder well then were shit outta luck here in Cali move to oregon then they have relaxed weapon laws there

  • besides the fact that the FAST is made in china, would it still be recommendable if i were to use it on a daily basis? and also i've watched other reviews and they were talking about before you open the knife that it has flaws and it has been known to be flimsy in the beginning until you get its tightened and fixed

  • @hanzybear The FAST is an OK knife. There are many that I would carry instead, though. Spyderco comes to mind. And, even Cold Steel. The USA version is head and shoulders a better knife.

  • @dicemansr77 witch would you recomend the gerber 06 fast or the gerber answer 3.25 1970 tanto please resond asap thanks

  • @usermalfuntions That is a tough call. They both have the same action and lock. I'd take the FAST simply because it is a bit larger. I have some great very small knives (Spydero Lava, for example) - but I'm not much on the 3" blade medium sized knives. Between those two, I'd go for the FAST.

  • besides the fact that the FAST is made in china, would it still be recommendable if i were to use it on a daily basis? and also i've watched other reviews and they were talking about before you open the knife that it has flaws and it has been known to be flimsy in the beginning until you get its tightened and fixed

  • so these are legal in arizona????

  • @TheUprisingNinja

As I understand it, Autos are legal in AZ.

  • Gerber 06 is my duty blade. I like it but its a little slow to open. Trade off, the blade is incredibly strong! One year, we got drop points, 2 years later, it was the Tanto. Bother are the American version.

  • @NSNorfolk

I agree - they are on the slow side, but they are very reliable, strong, and I'm a fan of the plunger style lock (as opposed to a liner lock system, which I've always hated. Liners wear out very quickly).

  • @dicemansr77 You make some solid points. I guess there is no "perfect" tool, yes? It is one STRONG blade!

  • Nice job getting that knife on the internet so cheap dude. the cheapest auto i have found is 152. What do you think of the gerber DMF? The only cool thing I see is that it is ambidextrous. I'm trying to get a hold of the 06 auto. My marine buddy has one. What are all the differences between the civilian version and the military besides the color? So far I haven't even found the civil. version. It is just the G10 handle vs. the non-G10 handle.

  • @alaskakitae

I haven't used any other autos aside from the Gerber 06. The civilian model, which I have since sold, is just less beefy all around. Thinner pivots, thinner construction, sloppy switches, etc. The 06 is the way to go, without question.

  • Have you used the Gerber DMF? Found one for about $174, money well spent.

  • You can't even reply in the right spot or upload a video. I love being a nerd and a fag because I'm not you.

  • I think all people should be able to carry them NOT justs firefighters, police ETC ETC.

  • @GreenMeanie2007

So do I. Switchblade laws are archaic. I have "regular" folding knives which I can deploy every bit as quickly - if no quicker.

  • @GreenMeanie2007 NewHampshire legalized switchblades, dirks, daggers, etc in May 2010

  • thats the new rancid album in the background eh?

  • Absolutely. I love those guys!

  • Is the grinding flat or hollow on the US models?

  • Good observation - I hadn't noticed it. The USA models seem to be a 1/2 height flat grind, and the Chinese is hollow ground.

  • Then never say it in the first place. Looks like you "kid around" quite a bit. You have some pretty sad comments on your channel. Seems like you do this a lot.

  • Another smacktard on the tube with a meager channel, rubberpoon is a great name for you !

  • ;)

I guess I need to "get with the times." I'll start calling perfect strangers "jerks" if that is the new thing.

  • "Jerk?" Whats your fucking problem?

And, I can think of 49 states I'd rather live in than New Jersey.

In Arizona and a few other states, autos are legal across the board.

  • Good vid !!!

  • Thanks!
