  • My praying mantis teacher hates when I do this stick form.

  • For me this guy is better than the other guy from the description vid no doubt, this guy is more traditional and much swift and powerful compared to the other bald monk. So yea my bet is that this guy can kick his other guys ass ,but both are good xDF

  • that's cool. i find it interesting that this form as with many of the shaolin forms seem to have so many slight variations depending on which monk you learn it from.

  • @dmd54

yes its right, because we are all diffrent each of us will do it slightly diffrent because we are not robots but people with diffrent body shapes and weaknesses and strenghts ;-)

  • Shi Dejun, not "xing". Nice shaolin Yingshougun form/

  • Smack taht ass 0:16 0:20

  • *yin shou gun.

  • the name of the form is Ing Shou Gun.

  • hey can you tell me about great wushu masters-?

  • hi

  • I've been practicing Wushu for more then 4 years, I'm 17 now but I'd never seen videos on youtube, what would you recommend?

  • you can have a look at my favorite lists :-) but mainly after practicing 4 years you should be able to distinguish excellent from average ! make your own choises and tell me which performances you like , i would say ;-)

  • Quit a bit different then your popular MMA stuff out now. I like the philosophy and the way to make you a better person rather then a macho knuckle head.

  • wdddd

  • Verry Good,

  • It's obvious that this guy is the shaolin monk. The other may have been trained in the outlying temple schools which is why he is allowed to wear the orange suit, but you're not allowed to be named Shi Xing Jun unless you're actually a monk. If I recall correctly the first word means that you're a master, the second is the generation you belong to and the third is your monk-name and they complete name is given to you as you become a monk.

  • Wow, thanks. That was very informative - I didn't know that. : )

  • That makes a lot of sense, finnpalm. I didn't know that before, and now that I think about it, Shi meaning master does make sense since it's pretty darn close to the word Shifu.

  • he is Shi De Jun, one of the main coaches of the Shaolin Warrior monks troupe at the Shaolin Wushuguan.

  • ahhh consciousness, energy and purity

  • i want to learn to use the staff cuz its such a casual weapon. basiclly any stck can be a staff

  • Comment removed

  • It's great to be able to see all the variations of Yin Shao Gwen(Gun) on you tube. This is one of the oldest tradition Shaolin staff forms. Right now my Shirfu is teaching us Wind Demon Staff, which has a much different flavor from this form. Both are attributed to Wong Jinhaluo but many believe that wind demon was created after his death by a disciple.

  • I prefer the yin shou gun form sach as the style of shi de jian ,I think is the hong system

  • kool EVERYONE please see my drunken fist video and tell me how i can improve it PLEASE!

  • wow! is that traditional shao lin???

  • lool

  • both "yin shou gun" performances are done by shaolin warrior monks, Shi Dejun and Shi Yongbin, they are at least 15 year apart in age. Here is another clip if you want to compare the form: watch?v=0YONe5kU-tQ

  • i thought that this form was called yin shou gun but there are some videos on youtube that call it eyebrow staff(qi mei gun) why is that?the qimeigun that i learned is different and the staff should be at the eyebrow's height unlike this one..does anybody know about this?

  • This form IS yin shou gun. Its the most common shaolin staff set. The other videos have just named it wrong. Qi mei gun is about the second most used set. Yes the qi mei gun is a little shorter, but many of the techniques are the same.

  • FYI for everyone, including g888:

Not only is there the fake martial art known as wushu that the communist party in China developed, but there is no "default" Shaolin staff, if that's the word to use. There are hundreds of styles and variations within Kung Fu, including within Shaolin itself. For example, I take Chi Lu Chuan (Shaolin 8-Animal KF) and our staff is different from some of the other Shaolin styles.

  • staff is not the king of all weapons, the spear is. you were right evilcritic

staff is the "grandfather" of all weapons. so abraxas was right in it leading to other weapons being used

in addition, the broadsword/sabre (dao) is the "general" of all weapons

and the double-edged straightsword (jian) is the "gentleman" of all weapons

  • hey, that is shaolin "Ing Shou Gun" form.

that was the first staff form I learned.

    nice

  • awsome, staff is king of all weapons

  • um i dont think so...i think staff is like near the bottom of the 18 traditional weapons in terms of traditional ranking. i think the spear is the king of all weapons. someone correct me if im wrong

  • staff is a king of all weapons in the sense, historocaly it was very first weapon used and all others followed

  • you bet he can :-)

  • yes, it looks good, but i wonder if he is able to defend himself attacked by few oponents on the street without stick...

  • martial arts isn't all about defense, it's also about the beauty and the style

  • yea, basically defending yourself in style

  • smart ass heheh =)

  • most likely yes cuz shaolin is mostly hand 2 hand

  • Who cares. When you spend a lifetime devoted to Martial arts it would be a complete waste if all you did it for was to protect yourself on the very low chance of being attacked on 'the street'. This is not the goal of shaolin. Never the less clearly his body is stronger faster and more flexible than most, so techniques aside i'm betting he could defend himself.

  • Where did you get that idea from? I think it's very worthwhile for me to practice, both train my skill and my physical body, just for that one day that may or may not happen when I get to protect someone I care about (or a complete stranger).

Keep in mind martial arts weren't developed to "be in shape" or "be flowery". They were arts of war - and it is only in recent times that shaolin is under the ministry of sports in China.

  • he said it would be a complete waste if that's ALL they practiced their kung fu for. Yes, kung fu came from a time that they needed to defend themselves, but it also serves the purpose of keeping in shape and remaining healthy all their lives.

  • Impressive.
