I know a guy who does this, Dean Potter who lives in the Yosemite area. He's one of the best free-solo climbers in the world, I think it was National Geographic that filmed him free-soloing the Eiger and then just freaking launching into the air. Amazing. Nerve-wracking when it's someone you know.
