@matiasrdz2011 The Dead ringer is extremely loud when decloaking without the saharan spy set and anyone worth their hat would hear it instantly. The Cloak and Dagger is not a good weapon as you will get very few kills and be a waste to your team by camping in a corner. The invisible watch however is useful for quick kills, pulling out and and no one and hear the damn thing. Thats why most expirenced spies use once in a while against those with keen ears.

Why release W?

@doghouse144 There are a few reasons.

For jumpstabs, releasing "w" allows you to control your moment and steer better. For matador stabs, it allows you to shift your velocity so that it isn't running into the opponent, but past and behind them opposite to their momentum. Basically, it lets you sidestep them, gets you behind them faster, and allows you to snap your view while you do it.

I have to ask though; is it really worth it to use the Ambassador with the Kunai? I normally use L'Etranger, just for the extra bit of cloak a couple well-placed shots gives; the piss-poor damage is offset by the fact that I'll be on the move, looking for backstab opportunities (and thus, health) much more often with the Kunai. What do you think?

@mellomania05 Glad you've found them useful! I definitely think the Amby is worth it. The ranged kill ability opens up all kinds of possibilities, and I find it more effective for self-defense. I'd never give it up for anything, myself. But hey, if L'Etranger is working for you, go with it :)

@TheJorgoman Mobility, primarily. In maps that have an abundance of ammo, you can pretty much stay cloaked as much as you want, but be able to stay on the move. The extra cloak after a stab from weapon pick-ups is nice, too.

Just a simple question, i found your old thread about the scripts from a year ago (SPUF), but in it, the script that i want to use (Weapon-Specific Viewmodel + Crosshair Script) doesn't seem to work. I've replaced all the obvious variables (dotxhairtype/color), however i can't get the viewmodels to hide. I'm sure it has something to do with the knife bind, so i was wondering if you could you upload the version of the script you use, so i can figure out why it isn't working (and how to fix it)?

@zhiheng2005 I'll try. It's hard to get entertaining uncut footage of the IW, so clips are good. I definitely agree that the IW is very helpful for learning basic survival and maneuvering abilities; I recommend new spies start out with it.

@FouetLianes There are so many great spies out there that are great at different things that I really can't say I think there is a "best spy", but thanks, you made me blush :}

By "lead" I mean try to get the target to move the way you want them to while following you with your own movement. By "strafe and snap" I mean you want to suddenly switch your momentum into them and swing your view to where they are looking. I'll try to give a more detailed explanation in the upcoming T3 guide.

basically you don't hold W when doing stairstabs, what he did is apply just right amount of momentum by pressing W and release it when you are airborne (holding crouch) until you gets above them, move your mouse for 180 deg turn and stab (use the strafe keys A and D if necessary). If you pressed W for too long, most likely you will overshot and miss your target, so mostly just tap W and jump. This is all my experience from tr_walkway.

The one on the medic seems to have a couple frames missing which makes it look worse--notice that the backstab animation is skipped.

@stabbyvideo I think you may overestimate your abilities, and I don't mean that by you're a bad spy. You are not; you're likely one of the best in the game. But accounting using a well known and exploitable bug in the game as skill is not correct (technically subjective). It is still a bug in the game, and despite the difficulty of doing it consistently getting killed instantly while looking directly at a spy isn't fair, and was not meant to be a part of the game.

@RNGgod Look at the very first stab in the video. Would you not say that a: the engineer is looking at the spy's front and b: the spy is looking at the engineer's front? Have you ever been backstabbed while looking at an enemy spy? While the first may be subjective based on latency and positioning, the second has happened to you if you spent any amount of time against a good or lucky spy. If you haven't been backstabbed while facing a spy you're either incredibly lucky, or don't play.

Notice that the video tends to lag and skip the occasional frame; watch some of stabby's other videos and you'll see that these "facestabs" result from stabby strafing one direction and then turning and stabbing, very quickly. @GoblinKing2128 It's pretty much the same stab as the one on the scout @ 1:13, just a little tighter--I simultaneously release "w", hit "d"/"a" (strafe right/left) and snap my view in the opposite direction (towards the target), then stab.
