I think it was really brutal action to move the Bronze soldier away. It´s not right to revenge. Estonians should understand that they have this Russian minority. It´s best to live in peace with neighbours.
From 1945-89 the share of ethnic Estonians in Estonia dropped from 94% to 61%, caused primarily by the deportations organized by the Soviet regime and the Soviet mass immigration program from Russia and other parts of the former USSR into industrial urban areas of Estonia, as well as by wartime emigration and Stalin's mass deportations and executions. The ethnic Estonian population has now risen close to 69%.
To Nahkhiir69. Interesting statistics...they may be correct...but, that does not justify the extremly racist attitudes that most Estonians have of Russian people livining in Estonia. The Estonian government has made a provocation by removing that Red Army memorial. In time, Estonia will be punished. The Estonians have to make a greater effort to remind themselves that if it were not for the Red Army, all Estonians would have been killed during WW2.(read "Mein Kampf")
Well Chrischralph, I watched carefully all clips about the subject, including the one dated 09.05.06 and we cannot just ignore tha fact that Russian people in the very same place there not only are celebrating the day (which could be 100% tolerated), they are also waving a red flag of former Soviet Union, and attacing the single old man, who had currage to appear with Estonian flag.
Do you honestly think, that if for instance some group of the same Russian punch of people are going to do the same in anywere else, in US, UK, or Canada, they would be tolerated more? I don't think so. I think, quite opposite, in US they would be immediately arrested and enjailed in a jiffy!
The fact that these Russian people behave like they are, shows that they still consider them as a genuine landlords in Estonian land. I know Russian mentality better than one can think!
But for Estonia they are no different from German Nazi's, they are perhaps even worse as their criminal behaviour has been rather brutal than any occured by Nazis in time of WWII.
When Russians invaded Estonia in 1939/1940, they destroyed almost all Estonian monuments, blowing them out by explosives. Practically no-one were spared. My grand-dad personally saw many of these events, people who tried to protect, were brutally beaten, arrested and deported. WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

Guys, your arguments sound so stupid because you
know who was the " Decider" in the Soviet Union
during those times...Batyushka Stalin. Not the
simple Russian people. They suffered too...

"They suffered too..." - ala "OK that overweights our losses and suffering"
