Well charging is when you leave your skates to initiate contact! So in other words (to make sure you understand) he skates up to people at full speed (so far everything is fine) and then jumps into his hit (Not legal). I think I do know what charging is. I am not the only one who has made this observation that Ovechkin charges. Grow up.

Im a Washington fan and an Ovechkin fan but the hit at 0:31 is definitely charging. I don't know how the refs didn't make that call. And hyracatherium, those are not "dirty" hits. the one at 31 is a penalty. But just because something is a penalty doesn't mean its "dirty". same with vice versa. None of the others are penalties nor dirty hits. either. Get your facts straight before you criticize a great player. You're a ref, you should know dirty hits are not always penalties

I actually ref hockey. They are actually dirty hits. It's discussed whether or not every year to crack down on this jumping when people are checking. NHL is the worse league for this. It is an actual penalty to jump. You can go down and come up and nail him that way but jumping is a dirty hit because of the potential of head injuries. And it is not human nature. I am not dissing ovechkin because they are not calling it anywhere. It is still an illegal hit.
