I used this video in my freshman literature class because I really think the kids need to know about this wonderful woman before reading any of her works. She is my inspiration to be a better mother, teacher, daughter, wife, and friend.

i wish i could have read this in I know Why The Caged Bird Sings....there's a different version of the "Mrs.Flowers incident" that seems shortened...however i wonder why she didn't mention the tablet or the "you don't love poetry!" part. Maya Angelou is one of my idols, so with all do respect, allow me to play devils advocate, and say that sometimes i quiestion the credibility of her books. some accounts don't match up. i love maya and her work either way. but someone argue that, give me faith

She is amazing. I was privileged to hear her speak at GSU in Atlanta. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I closed my eyes. I was so charged after I heard her that I walked the several blocks back to my hotel in a cold March rain, got on the phone to my friend in Connecticut and said get us tickets! There was a different feeling than seeing her in Atlanta, at university - but still a life altering experience. God bless Dr. Angelou.

I never new my grandparents, so ever since i was 17 yrs old I've kind of looked at her as though she were my grandmother. Always sucked in.I can listen to her all day. (Oh at '17' I saw her on a oprah winfrey show... God Bless Oprah to.lol.)
