@grandragon72 The Rinnegan, which Nagato Uzumaki had isn't a Sharingan. He is the ocular jutsu of the Rikodou Sennin. It can only be awakened by a person with both the Uchiha and Senju blood. And seeing that Nagato was a Uzumaki which is blood relate to the Senju he had 1 part of the mix, Tobi gave him the Uchiha blood. Also you will need to in a Trauma for the Rinnegan to activate. Jiraya didn't know this so he tough it was Random, which it isnt.
