I like when the light hits the Les Paul at the right angle. You get to see the hints of wear in the finish. Means it's been played for all it's worth. Just like the grime on a maple neck that's permanently etched in the wood. I LOVE THAT! Can't wait til my Telecaster starts to get that look.
WTF!? I'm a fan Classic Rock (DP Family Tree etc etc) but never knew this combo existed. I was only about 5 at the time right enough, ha ha. Yeah good stuff , I'll need to check out that album.
He even made Fusion/Jazz-Rock sound heavy! He proved that the power and the sound of a drummer is more important than technics and "over the top skills".
great ...saw Bruce with Clempson a couple o times back in the early eighties but id missed this on the telly so thank u . ....P.S does anyone have the Jack Bruce and Friends Whisle test in concert from 1981? what iwouldnt give 2 c that again..(.me mother taped over it with the royal wedding bless her)..does anybody even remenber it? much better than the Rockpallast gig....
This is awesome, Max Middleton, Jack Bruce and Clem Clemson !!! Cozy at its best. Clemson and Middleton amazing musicians that were under-rated, but not by us connosiers that remember this guys from the Jeff Beck group and Humble Pie.
Great high energy rock fusion from a golden era when people like Cozy, Gary Moore, Gary Boyle, Rod Argent, Brand X etc where just burning it up!!! And Max is just the most underrated player and writer - he was fundamental to Jeff B's success with those fusion albums!
he was also a member of the jeff beck group-1971-1972-cozy -drums,bobby tench-vocals and rythum guitar, clive chaman-bass and of course jeff beck,he later appeared on blow by blow
Boy that Goldtop Les Paul really does have alot of bite! Close your eyes, and Clem sounds like Beck! Clempson to me always looked like a rich kid that got a guitar for Christmas, and just latched into a band without any effort. Or talent. But here-with the "Killer" groove, there are no goofy grins-the guys are INTO IT. The unison riffs are classical in nature-so I can't call it jazz-guess it's just really good rock fusion!
Now this ROCKS Love this tune
