  • @mqmadrid Your english is good. :D

  • nice! could you explain me how is the better way to add atmospheric fog? u use a gradient or...? and wich modes of fusion (screen, add, multiply, etc). Sorry about my english...

  • U just made Hollywood look silly.

  • MAD!!!!

  • what did you exactly track . because nearly everything is moving in that shot ?

  • @tobivader You don't need a still object/pixel to track something in a video - that is the purpose of tracking. I can see your thinking though ;)

Tracking follows objects/pixels in shaky video.

  • Hey, thats pretty awesome!

  • for 2009 this is unbelieveable!

  • You are a crack! this is FANtastic!

  • Wow, very nicely done!!

  • This is really looks perfect! How you made this perfect tracking?

  • Muy Bueno!

  • nice vid. looks believable.

  • This is awesome! That helicopter model is sweet too! where did you get it from I could really use that in my work :)

  • good video :)

  • Hey I like your video is very good and can give me the link of the Ship of district 9 and the helicopter, can you give me plis, I hope your answer and one thing you can do a tutorial for District 9?

  • What did you use to edit this? (Excuse me if its allready said somewhere)

  • Imagine seeing that outside you window one day, I would totally shit myself :P

  • very good compositing! Grat video!

  • Great stuff!!!

  • very good video, can you tell me where you downloaded the ship thanks

  • reallty good tracking!! what else did you track after the bridge pass by?

  • Finally, a district 9 video that's actually respectable. So sick of seeing locked down shots with shitty post camera shake.

  • hey erm how did you do the rotoscoping, i mean like did you track it or do it frame by frame, if you tracked it then how did you coz im having trouble :L

  • dude where did you learn to track that good? concidering the footage is too shaky to track. amazing..

  • You modeled the helicopters yourself?

  • Very impressive work.

  • awesome! tutorial!!

  • not 1280p ... 720p or 1080 but on this video max is 720p so change it :)

    btw nice job

  • can you give me link to download the helicopter, i really need it for my new movie THE LAST ONE......

    please

  • mate this is really really good - fantastic work!

  • heli are too small, they need more attention you can barely see them.

  • Wow, this is actually really good! Check out my video, we got really inspired by District 9. made our own hsips thouigh, in 3d, no still image. But, wow, this was wicked

  • this is amazing, great job, i know how much time rotoscoping/masking, and manually tracking during the bridge pass really takes. Check out my district 9 trailer for my high school film class

  • please tutorial!!!

  • Woah, that is awesome!!

  • Really nice work... except one thing... Your helicopters are without

textures... You should just paint them dark gray... They ruin the whole work..

  • Hey man that's awsome!!! i'm trying to do something like that , but as i am a noob, in adobe after effect i dont know( when using tracker) how to fix the tracking layer in this case a space ship without moving from its position. what i'm trying to say that how can i fix the spaceship to stay still in the same position and not move, even if the camera makes a turn of 360 . i tryed many times but the spaceship when the camera moves it gets stuck on the corner of the scene.

  • nice, I don't even wanna know how long it took to render this all out

  • This video wasnt made following an aetuts tutorial. The video took around a week to put together, not working on it full time. 3ds max was used for helicopter pass, afx for compositing, phptochop for spaceship. Thanks for comments!

  • @garrickcampsey would you send me the psd file for the ship?

  • hOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU ON THIS VIDEO?

  • wow that was grand

  • perfect,

    tutorial please

  • perfect,

    tutorial please

  • HELICOPTER not HELICOPTOR

    lol

    cool video though

  • Awesome!

  • very nice !!!

  • good composting u made it following aetuts.com tutorial on this u did...

    but hey good job

  • i had no idea 3DS Max had such capability, i thought it was only a modeling program, i want this now

  • I give you a standing ovation for the quality of the Motion Tracking. Nice job.

  • hey good work!

  • Fake and Gay...... :p Just kidding, nice work garrickcampsey

  • THIS SHIT IS COLD AS FUCK!

  • this is the best video of the distric9 ship ever!!

  • what program did you use to do this? i want to look into this stuff for a career!

  • @styroman32 After Effect man.

  • no, the camera shake was all part of the video. it was shot that way. that's why I made a tracking grid, so I could 'grade' the quality of the tracking. this was after I had used the computer to do a first pass of the tracking. then several passes by hand were done, which was necessary to do - due to the bridge completely covering up the clouds that i was tracking.

  • nice look! Did you add in camera shake, or was that all natural? Must have been a pain to accurately track if it was really that shaky.

  • Amazing! Looks great.

  • nice. i watched district 9, and love hearing my old accent lol. good old south aafrica, . nice effects, what programs you use to do this?

  • lol 1280p? no such thing. still, good stuff
