  • This will probably always be my fave woodie. I love El Toro, I love Lightning Racer and Comet at Hersheypark, but nothing beats the feeling of getting a foot of air between your backside and the seat on this baby!

  • Classic roller coaster butiful same with twister and flying turns its a buety

  • I like this ride...it's EXTREMELY rough and bumpy though :/

  • This was my first coaster and i dont really like them it scared the hell out of me lol

  • This does look like it has alot of airtime hills. What's your favorite airtime coaster? Or should I ask... which roller coaster do you think has the most/best airtime hills in the U.S.?

  • Air time is so overrated on wooden rollercoasters, the best thing about wooden rollercoasters is the "wild" feeling the ride has when it quickly goes threw banked turns. You feel like you are going so much faster than a steel because everything is shaking violently. example ( The Voyage ) It has maybe like 3 airtime hills, but the rest is hard turning, and gives you a wild ride feeling.

  • @stangsaleens7 The Beast at King's Island is awesome for banks. It's violent as hell though. It will break ribs and give you a headache after the first ride. lol

  • @JRocc1078 i sit in the very back seat, and i never have problems, and a on a normal day at kings island i ride it about 3-4 times lol... I prefer it over diamondback

  • This was my first rollercoaster...

  • @CameronTheStone

Well guess what?rated 2nd best wooden rollercoaster IN THE WORLD. its not boring. It's FUN. I LOVE THE PHOENIX!!

  • i love knoebels and i love this ride and i miss it i moved to FL :(

  • #2, 2011 Golden Ticket Awards. 'Nuf said?

  • I rode Phoenix about 2 weeks ago and when I rode in the front, I literally stood up at some parts because I couldn't keep myself down. It's an awesome rollercoaster.

  • this gave me pain :( when u go up and down u fly up

  • My little sister is 8 and she ALMOST past out on that rollar coaster SCARY

  • i went on this and im 10 i almost puked.

  • There's no place like Knoebels! :)

  • this roller coaster is boring it may have airtime but its not that good

  • One of my favorites.

  • i went on this ride just a few days ago and i had a blast its the funnest ride there

  • I think this is the best roller coaster ever. I went on once with my cousin who was 12, and I was seriously worried she was going to fly out. I was flying out too, but really skinny people do not stay in there seat while on this. The only time she was actually sitting on her seat was when the ride took off.

  • For pure fun Phoenix is hard to beat. It's neat to watch people get right back in line to ride it over and over again. It's addictive. If you were to pick one coaster for someone to ride that would make them fall in love with roller coasters, this would be a good choice.

  • Why argue over which coaster is better, just enjoy the rides! That being said, The Phoenix is- and always will be my favorite coaster! Lots of memories over the years =)

  • I love this ride o3o

  • Videos and pics of this coaster don't do it justice; you can't imagine the airtime you get until you're actually on it. And I LOVE the fact that the only thing holding you in is a lap bar. For me, the lap bar comes down nowhere near close enough to my lap; I have a TON of room and my butt is hardly in the seat. I love Knoebels :) Thanks for posting.

  • I went on this ride when i got off the log flume, wet butt, squirmy seat, loose buckles, well, u get it...

  • AIR TIME! nice dude. Best Bumper cars in the world!

  • is there a coaster where they take ur pic if there is, which one???

  • @peacegal24450 um the phoenix, the twister, and the log flume, the sploosh, and almost all exhileration rides reallly.

  • I wish when i went there i wasnt still scared of roller coasters!

  • The Phoenix is a total sensory experience. The ride is great, but it'd only be half as fantastic without the roar of the train flying past the station while you watch the giant flywheel powering the chain lift with a nose full of grease and timber. Airtime, baby. The only coaster where you're guaranteed to spend more time out of your seat than in it.

  • @gfh110 Nicely put, i totally agree. It's very sad though because almost every rollercoaster used to be like that :( now most of the people in the idustry focus on how cheap and easy to maintain the ride is as opposed to making a good ride.

  • In the last car you almost never touch the seat....so much fun.

  • big air time in the front seat! :D

  • this is the first coatser I ever went on :)

  • Are you kidding me?!! You obviously have never been on the Voyage before, cause this is childs play compared to the coaster in southern Indiana! If I had to pick, Voyage for sure!

  • @XtremeRT04 shut up, phoenix is a classic wooden coaster, El Toro is newer. so dont even compare the two. Phoenix will always be my favorite classic wooden coaster.

  • Ever wonder why El Toro and Voyage are 1 and 2? Because they don't slow down and are very intense! This ride looks good but I can see the diffrence. I've never ridden Voyage yet but I will this summer cause I gotta see whatever is better than El Toro cause it kicks ass!

  • Note: I've never ridden either.

This and El Toro are hardly comparable. As a classic woodie, this focuses more on floater airtime. El Toro, on the other hand, has (apparently) some of the strongest (-1.3 G's?) ejector airtime in the world, combined with hard banked turns and sharp transitions.

My money's on El Toro because the flat turns on Phoenix (if just the first 1 or 2) can be seen as resting periods while El Toro can be more accurately described as relentless.

  • Man, going over those tiny hills at that speed must deliver some intense airtime!

  • Do you do this for a living? I want your job! lol. Great vid

  • Good POV, doesn't look rough at all for a woodie.

  • I've yet to ride Collosus, but Phoenix is WORLDS better than El Toro and Voyage combined in terms of sheer airtime. You're almost never in your seat once you crest the lift.

  • Perhaps, but I rode Comet @ Great Escape w/ expectations of Intamin-worthy ejector air & it didn't deliver that intensity.

That makes me doubt this ride as well.

  • Yeah...to put things lightly, I went on El Toro the previous day (this was a week long road trip me and my friend had) and felt moderately good about it, thinking it had a chance over Voyage as my #1. Then I rode Phoenix and lmao about why I would ever consider anything else a top wood. And if you're looking for airtime, all I have to say is row 3. I was sold on my first ride in the back, but once I got up to the mythic seat I was convinced that no other coaster could ever deliver that much air

  • @Reon The turns look boring though... I`d rather have el toros smoothness and epic airtime and twists to consistently good airtime and slower turns.

  • @omfg567 They may be a bit slow, but keep in mind that povs tend to slow some aspects down. Besides, when I was riding this thing I was too busy joygasming over the epic airtime that I wasn't paying attention to the pacing of the curves....

  • @Reon i fell out of my chair reading your comment. have you ridden all 3 of them? voyage, which i HAVE ridden, has the most airtime of any coaster, according to fansites. idk how its measured, but apparently there is 24.2 secs of airtime on the voyage. plus, anyone that has ridden El Toro and Phoenix knows that el toro has the best airtime of the two. only true

  • @uberl33t123 phoenix ftw! eltoro has compressed air lap bars! not buzz bars! phoenix may not have the most statistic wise, but the buzz bars add to it! buzz bars don't lock you in at all! you don't feel safe! you try and go one ride with your feet no just sitting on the floor, not jammed under the space of the seat infront of you and your hands in the air! it is very hard to do! than try it in the 3rd seat!

  • @Reon That's during the day. I would not reccomend riding it after dark unless you like 'one-inch-out-of-your-seat' airtime.

  • @Reon Idk, I think el toro rivals this one for airtime :)

  • @theaterqueen95 It deff comes close, but they shove you into the restraints so tight on El Toro that you don't get to enjoy it as much. Since this one just has the bar that only comes halfway, you truly get the "flying out of your seat" sensation :)

  • It looks like a taller version of the Scooby Doo Ghoster Coaster at Kings Dominion.

  • @EastCoasterGeneral i will thanks

  • it looks very shakey, but great POV :)

  • insane airtime

  • IVE BEEN On That Ride!

  • love it

  • i love this ride

  • wow i can practicly feel the air time

  • pretty cool
