@hanumanji9 Just for clarification, he started with bodybuilding and actually won the Mr Iceland competition before he ever competed in the WSM. You got it backwards. He died while deadlifting in preparation for WSM and the heart attack was linked to a condition that ran in his family not thyroid hormones.
Unfortunately I was using the computer and didnt realize that his youtube account was signed in. If anyone wants to comment please send them to me instead of Ironbird 6901

Keep in mind this was bodybuilding in 1984, not 2010.
If you want to compare him to a Mr.Olympia, then it has to be one of 1984, where he stacks up better than if you compared him to a modern Ronnie, or Cutler, or another tall modern one like Gunter.
asddfkfkfkfkf , sucked at bodybuilding? and cant see how, he's got really good definition and muscles.. ripped to shreds! which are really important if u wanna win a bb contest so please tell me, what about him ''sucks'' .. ?
Hey I agree,I don't think he sucks (look at that chest move),but he has nowhere near the mass of a Mr. Olympia. Maybe that's what gymboy99 meant? He must be really young here too, just starting. And taking that into consideration he would probably have won amature & non-heavy weight titles. What is odd is that while not as massive as say a Ronnie Coleman, he may have been close in strength. But Strong Man Strength is different then BB strength. Strong Man, deffinatley more endurance based.
why cant people leave the guy alone? he was an honest and nice guy with his heart in the right place. why does everyone have to labelhim a gear head and say he shouldnt be classed as awesome becaus ehe's not natural? suprose suprise, there are guys in WSM who are natural, when was the last time you saw a natural powerlfting comp? they dont lift nowhere near as mich as these guys do!!
Being as big as pro bodybuilders or strongmen isn't healthy. Add steroids and a high calorie diet and the risk of getting a heart attack goes through the roof.
he had heart condition that caused his death. not steriods the caused the arota to break. but he died doing what he loved. i loved to go out that way.
@sterraro Yes they can when taking above the recommended dose, although there will always be side effects when taking steriods. Bottom line is this if you can live without them it is healthier not to take them but I do understand that to be a strongman you have no choice as to be competitive requires the performance increase they give you. He was a very funny guy and he was taking what they all take so I admire his achievements within the sport.
yes, but the heart is made of a different muscle tissue than skeletal muscle. the heart is made from cardiac muscle and never grows (unless ventricular failure has happened - where the heart simply relaxes)
the heart does not have androgen receptors, therefore no testoeterone molecules can bind with it.
@sterraro ya they if they are abused i have a lot of body builders who are friends of mine and a few of them haven been to emergency rooms with racing hart rates from juicing to much so ya and a lot of pro body builders have heat surgery at a young age and have hart conditions. Arnold had emergency hart surgery at the age of 50 having to have his ribs split open like a crabs
@sterraro agreed, they say this to scare people. and give it a bad name. steroids dont just build muscle and increase strength init. back in day i heard they gave it to german soldiers in ww2. peace
what?? why cant people see it doesnt matter what your size is, look at andrew raynes!!! he's 5'3'' !!
jo pall did not die from steriods! everyone uses them and back in his day, growth wasnt freely available on the market.
he was a gifted athelte, using gear, when everyone else uses it, so whats the difference?
around 90% of all athletes all over the world use some kind of synthetic performance enhancing drug, its not just 'take a handful of pills and look like ronnie coleman'

He should have stayed with WSM, that whole BB shit destroyed him with all the tyroid hormons etc. Anyway they wont let him do anything in Mr Olympia.
