"We just did grabbing both wrists, but the logic is the same. Even if they grab the fingers you just connect to them through the fingers instead. If you try to force it you will injure your fingers, so you take away the power where they're grabbing. For he who grabs, because a finger is so thin it's actually harder to grab than the wrist, though it looks easier. If you take advantage of that you can break their balance. Even if they grab intensely [couldn't hear this part], then it is easy"
Both these ukes are world class and make it look far easier than it actually is.
Muratta Sensei is well known for his dynamic and very strong aikido and there are not many people in the yoshinkan aikido world that can fall as gracefully as him.
Make that the entire Aikido world. The man is a class act, poor posture?hahaha not even when he is flying through the air!
From my observation of the video the two uke have very poor posture .They are also lacking awareness.Very passive.I appreciate that this is a demo but for me it doesnt quite gel.
All the flips from the uke's and the demonstration going on confused me. LMAO
all it is if someone holds on to your hand tightly or finger. You pull down towards you.
my brother is the one who explained it to me and showed me how it works. Its not as great as what you see on screen but it is a great opener for other technqiues if you do aikido or any martial arts.
You have little to no understanding at all of the principle he is discussing. There are few people who have the ability to litteraly take another person's balance in this way. You ahve to feel it to beleive it - I have.

lol this remind me of 'pull my finger' trick which is almost as effective as this technique.

Rather than have the Sensei pull them to the floor, why don't they just let go of his wrist?

what are you talking about o.O?
I get the concept. in fact...
in fact I've done in a few times on my friends who held my wrist.
its intresting instead of using ikkyo or kotegaesh.
its all about the energys direction. it also depends how hard the person is holding.

i still don't understand how this works?

"Please do not imitate me as you will injure you're fingers"
Anyway, I'm always amazed by his ability and polite language.
