  • Are these lake erie tribs? and if soo could you say where please

  • hey i may be in the buffalo area for a day or two this weekend and I was wondering if you guys could by any chance give me some insight on where to find some steelhead driving out of cheektowaga. I had the catt in mind but i have no idea where to access the river or what stretches will be hot this weekend. if you have time to inbox me in the next day or two about any areas you would recomend I try or any spots where i could start it would be hugely appreciated. thanks a bunch! -andrew

  • @SetTheHookProduction sent a pm - good luck if you get out

the catt is running around 1000 cfs - usually not fish-able til near 500 .

  • what are you using for bait?

  • @trck400mrnnr we were drifting salmon egg sacks

  • What kind of line? BTW great vid!

  • @FishingwithKT Thanks - 6lb low viz green stren line

  • thanks!

  • I just moved to WS and was wondering if any steelhead run through Cazenovia Creek?

  • @M1dg3t2000 the ny dec website shows they stock 10,000 steelhead yearly there - i got a few there

  • I was thinking about going up in earl april and i wanted to know if they are bitting at that time

  • @legoman844 you can usually find some steelhead running early october through april

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE Bill & Mike i bought some white marabou jigs and the tail had no movement when it in the water it is straight and still it dose not wiggle do u know why and also dose it matter what bobber you run on your main line and how long is your leader

  • @sk8eradas that seems odd -marabou always has a life like movement to it.

i like the clear plastic drennen type floats for fishing shallow in clear water but iv'e used big slip floats on deep fast rivers and cheap weighted styrofoam floats for casting distance ..

leaders vary - i fish a spot where i'm only 2 ft under so i use a 2 ft leader so if the leader breaks i don't lose the float.

    mostly i use 3 to 4 ft

  • what bait were you guys using? I've never done trout/salmon fishing before

  • @FishboiFishboi we were using egg sacks that day

  • Could you tell me what river you guys fish for your cats in?

  • @MrChikenLiver we fish the lake erie tribuatary streams in new york

  • where do you guys fish for your cats

  • Nice vid!!!!

  • nice fish dude but take some care in releasing your fish, I know your a gear guy but damn as tired and worn out as those fish look like those fish should be let go with ease I know that those land lock steelies are like catching white fish, and are as dumb as hatchery trout but the way you release them I bet a few died.

  • @buckkiller3

    rough release ?

the fish take a pretty good beatin from spawning and spring run off ice flows -they're hardier than most think.

that being said were pretty gentle with them for most part and don't over play them to exhaustion + release almost all of them .

dumb as hatchery trout - some days i'm disappointed if i don't have 20 + hookups

  • you horse your fish 2 much and thats why you lost 6

  • Awesome Vid!! Nice steelies!

  • I grew up in western NY and I've spent about 2 hours watching your vids and trying to figure out what creeks you are on. Love your Dunkirk peir fishing vids! I live in an area where bass is king, but I miss that small creek fishing. Great videos, someone commented that you should have your own fishing show, you two catch more quality fish then most of the yahoos on the In-fisherman. Keep reelin' - Pete

  • @fishingbear5555 thanks man

  • Bill, you make awsome fishing videos but the steelhead ones are my fav! I like how you say"see ya" when you release your fish. You got me saying that now when I release fish! Thx bud!

  • nice wat other fish are in that tribe. looks like the water was loud. *lol*

  • Yea Roadsnake, is Mike your son?

I wished I would of had a dad like Roadsnake.

  • Great video! Steelhead have also been spawning at my local river. Fishing has been pretty good, catching many, but mostly only catching small steelhead and baby salmon.

  • a lot of times i don't even use a bobber just drift along bottom with enough split shot to get it rolling along the bottom.same with a bobber right near bottom.i use weighted bobbers of the clear plastic floats and 6lb test fluorocarbon leader

  • another good fish catching adventure...

  • great intro and Nice fish 2!!!

  • Fantastic fishing man. I gotta get out there again soon. Maybe tomorrow. Water is real low so fishing aren't up as far as most years. 5 stars and fav'd!

  • Nice steelies, some of those skinny ones do look spawned out. Colin & I need to get out before they all run back to the lake!

  • thanks everyone for the positive comments

  • i'll pm it - we started out a cayuga where i normaly do good and didn't get a bite or even see a fish let alone an empty spawning bed- seems like a slow year for the buffalo river system tribs

  • wat lb test u guys use?

  • we always use 6 lb low viz green mono and add a 6lb fluorocarbon leader if the waters too clear

  • were is this?

  • its in western newyork

  • Dude, I can't stop smiling when I watch your videos. It really takes the edge off an otherwise screwed up day.

  • thanks man

  • I don't like to admit it but, I lost my first bass this spring. That's what those cold long winters do. It takes a couple of tries to knock the rust off. Great video

    5 Stars like always.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • thanks Joe , hope it wasn't a real big one -got to knock that rust off

  • thanks man - got at least one more good steelhead trip if the big creek ever clears up

  • Always great viideo's from Mike and Bill. Lots of big fish and cool comentary. I still like that huge brown Mike caught. Wow man, how many pounds would you say that fish was.

  • thanks man - that was only an average size brown for the ontario tribs maybe 6 lbs but it was a beautiful fish

  • Went to the creek for steelies saturday and got skunked, my dad landed one steely and one brown. I just had the skunk bug. I went out to the river near home to try my luck again at some smallies but got skunked again. This weekend nature gave me the big F. U. :)

  • 5 stars .

can't believe we lost that many big fish but was still a good time even with the cold rain

  • cool vid man

  • @Survival96 thanks

  • Another great vid fellas. Definetly will be looking forward to more of your uploads the rest of the season. One of my buddy's told me about Cattaraugus Creek and Oak Orchard River. Ive been at the river but Cattaraugus how is it this time of year? im thinking about going there saturday. - Tyler

  • @TylersMusic10 - cattaraugus was still very high and muddy like chocolate milk-some years it isn't even fishable till late april early may depending on rain.the good thing is the trout hang around til late may most years.

i'll let ya know if it drops to a fishable level -be at least a week or 2

  • Nice fish Bill and Mike!

  • @asianboy9821 thanks man

  • Great video Bill! Im limited to smaller waters with low fish populations untill some of my better tribs open up, but Ill be fishing piers and small streams untill then!

    5***** and favorite

    -Andrew

  • @andrewh4 thanks man

    good luck out fishing

  • It's good to see some Steelhead/Trout fishing on you tube that does not involve a fly rod (fly fishing's near constantly "forced" on to you when you research this stuff, the thing is I'm just not interested). Thank you for the videos and wealth of information in general. I've long felt as though I could'nt catch the clap in the local whorehouse with a fist full of 100's.. Your vids change my outlook and continue to motivate and educate me.

  • i mean when most people think fly fishing they think of trout so i guess it would be natural to assume that most of the things online are about fly fishing them... have you ever tried fly fishing steelheads? or any kind of trout fer that matter?

  • @DonBrodka1 thanks man.

i hear ya -i'm cool with whatever method someone want to use for steelheading fly gear, spinning or pinning but don't push it on me.

  • Good job...only wished i was there too. 5*****
