first of all, I just need to say thank you. You honestly just inspired me for a snape/lily fan fic. This editing is flawless. You are flawless. perfect in every sense. Keep up the brilliant work.
WOW this is truly heartbreaking and tragic. true work of art i must say. On a side note, you should all come check out my music video for Snape and Lily on my page. I'm sure true fans of the Princes tale will like it as much as this video. Thanks :D
And before my fellow Potterheads attack me, I want to add that the only good thing about the last Harry Potter film is the SOUNDTRACK. It made everything more "felt," if that's the right word. And the "Prince's Tale" was crap. Even my sister, who is also a film buff and who's NEVER read the HP books, critiqued that whole "Snape" montage. God, if it weren't for Alan Rickman's good acting, I would curse that chapter in the film.
So, my point is. This fan who made this video edited different scenes together from different shows MUCH MORE COHERENTLY than the REAL Harry Potter films ever did. Goes to show that WB just cashcowed the popularity of the series. They didn't care about making a great film. Never mind being loyal to the books (because movies are supposed to be a different medium)... but the fact is, they didn't make full effort on making a consistent film series--forgetting a HUGE detail such as "eye similarity"
cont.- it. Even 5 minutes before they showed Severus' memory, the director deliberately put a close-up shot of Film!Harry's blue eyes... and yet, when we got to the memory it was fucking brown. Not only that, Snape's memory in the film wasn't a very informative "memory," but it was more a montage (a shitty montage at that). Another inconsistency is how Young!Jame's eyes actually looked like Harry's. Newell obviously didn't care enough to follow the FILM's consistency. -cont.
omg there are NO words to describe how INCREDIBLE this is!!! The editing is beautiful and it 100% captures the essence of The Prince's Tale. Well done, I absolutely love it!!
I Thought the really screwed up the ending and the harry dumbledore dream state, but i was quite satysfied with the way they executed this scene in the film.
they couldnt have done it much better.. maybe have added another few minutes of snape and lilly dialogue because it wasnt that clear at the start. Otherwise PERFECT
They did mess it up.. The scene they did was wonderful.Yes. I cant deny them that.. But they didnt do The Princes Tale justice...Maybe im over looking it.. As it was my favorite chapter in all the books.
Oh my god this is amazing, I love your version of the Prince's Tale, great idea to use Charlotte Riley and Tom Hardy as Lily and Snape =]
Tbh I rather liked the film version, I was worried that they'd mess it up but I think they stuck to the book and it wasn't as rushed as I thought it would be. But your version is amazing as well ^_^
@88narayandivya I was just replying to the her saying I hipe they didn't mess it up, this is my opinon. I do agree I wish they showed the tension between James and Severus and his fading friendship with Lilly. I think it was wonderful what they added though but if you do not agree, thats your opinon,
This video is very well done. I agree with the comment above, I'm curious to see how you liked it in the movie.
I personally loved it and thought it was the best scene in the entire movie. Possibly all the movies. Since it is also my favorite moment in the series.
yeah i wanna know if you were disappointed. that's my favorite eight minutes in movie history. snape had me bawling like the whole time. alan needs to go ahead and win 38473847984 oscars and baftas
the only thing im disappoint it of is that the deaths of Fred, Lupin, Tonks were not shown as they should be and the time given on the screen was too short to provoke emotional reaction in the viewers. And can not because of the time! I mean the movie is 2hrs and 10minutes!! IT could have been 2hrs and 30mins like the goblet of fire!! Come on David Yates!!!
One more thing, I'm usually very critical whenever I watch films. But I chose not to be on this one. I just savored every moment of it. Heck, it was the last Potter film, might as well enjoy it and leave the theater with a smile rather a sour face.
@88narayandivya Yeah, true, but I wished that the scene in the 7 movie included those as well, would've been cool :) and the acting just...blew me away. :O loved all the movies and books.
What really bugged me about the movie scene was that it never showed HOW Snape protected Harry, it only showed his love for Lily and him saying that he would protect Harry. And also it showed nothing from his teenage years. But the acting blew me away. It was much better than "Snape's Worst Memory." Although if you hadn't read the book, you would have been confused watching it. Someone upload it! I need to watch it again!
Since everyone else is saying what they thought of the movie version...
I thought they did Ok with it. Like some parts I loved. Like when snape was talking to dumbledore about loving lily. But they didn't show anything really from their teenage years at hogwarts and that bugged me
they did it pretty good in the movie...I cried my eyes out when Dumbledore says:" don't tell me you now care for the boy" and snape shows his patronus and then Dombeldore says: after all this time?" And Snape replies "always" and then you see him hugging lily's body, i just went baby crying on that one.
Snaps memory was perfect, when he goes to godrics hollow and sees lily dead it's so sad ;( because snape never shows emotion so seeing him hugging her and crying is just heartbreaking, Alan Rickman was one of the best actors in this film he did so beautifully
Just saw the movie. They did rush it, but they still showed some major parts. Alan Rickman really was just fabulous. He had me crying throughout the entire scene. I definetely would watch that part a few more times. Snape cradling Lily's body just killed me. I tried not to sob. A lot was left out, but it was still beautiful, I just wish they would have shown the relationship between the two more in depth. :') Oh, well.
I loved the Prince's Tale in the movie. Pretty much every seen with Snape I loved. I think they should have added the part where Snape called her a Mudblood. I felt that was integral and without it Lily just seems unjustified.
i wasn't disappointed about the prince's tale in the movie. i loved it. i cried my eyes out, especially when snape found lily's dead body and hugged her. i always knew that alan rickman was a great actor, but that scene really exceeded my expectations!
I love this, and all the other videos you made! Can you make one with the actual scenes from the film now please? :) Nothing is better than Alan Rickman as Snape!
This is my favorite part in the book, and I was a bit worried that they would mess it up in the movie. Though they left out things, I was not disappointed in the slightest. The Prince's Tale is so well acted and Alan Rickman's performance instantly brought tears to my eyes. It's such a heart-wrenching story, and they did it well.
Your video was excellent as well, I especially loved the parts when they were children. Great work!
Actually this part in the movie was beyond excellent! I was on the verge of tears! it was amazing, i don't think you'll be disappointed. My friend, who loves this part too says that it's better than the actual part in the book. So yea, I hope you get to see it 'cause that part was amazingly emotional!
the movie is satisfying, compare to the other work by yates, imo, he is my least favorite director of the HP movie series, but fortunately, this was by far the best scene in the movie. Nothing made me tear but that scene. Once again this is my opinion.
oh its your favourite part too? When I was reading HP7 for the first time I read that chapter twice, not caring about the ending, cause it was just so beautiful... Havent seen HP7.2 yet, cause Im ill, but I cant wait to see it, I dont care if they screwed it up, cause if the did, I will just watch your video and have a perfect version :)
I'm curious... were you disappointed by how they made it in the film? Personally I was surprised; I feared it would be like Snape's memory in OotP, but they hadn't even rushed it as much as I thought they would... but the best thing about it, of course, was Alan Rickman's phenomenal acting!
@ImmortalSparrow HIs acting was amazing. I couldn't believe it and I cried my eyes out when he said "always" and then it flashed back to him on the day Lily died, hugging her body. :( And I never cry in movies because I don't usually cry. D:
@ImmortalSparrow I felt disappointed when I saw the last movie. I didn't like it at all. Too many changes and contraddictions and the Prince's Tale was quite horrible. Alan Rickman and all the other actors' acting was superbe, but the movie could be much more better.
@ImmortalSparrow I was very afraid that they won't give it its worth, but thank god I was pleased it wasn't rushed it was satisfying that I cried my eyes out as if one of my parents died, as if I didn't see this coming, I think Alan was brilliant <3
@ImmortalSparrow that scene in the movie was as good as it was in book if not better. It told its story while switching back between Lily's death and Snape discovering Lily's corpse. So smart.
@amourpouramour - You don't know anything about film, so shut your fucking mouth. Stop telling a fellow Potterhead "shame on you" for making a tribute to a couple that's been badly showcased in the films. As a film connoiseur, I honestly thought "The Prince's Tale" was robbed of its ingenuity. It was rushed, and we were left with inconsistent character markers (i.e. Lily's eyes). It had been stated in the films over and over again that Harry has Lily's eyes. And yet Newell blatantly disregarded-
-cont. I actually like this video better than the last HP film. And I have so much more to say about the flow of the film itself, but this is youtube and I'd rather not prolong it. My point is, a lot of "Potter" fans are too biased and excited to see the last film that they can't judge the film as a film. I'm both a Potterhead and a film buff, and I say Yates slapped rushed shitty clips together and didn't bother conversing with his editors about consistency.
PS: I meant YATES. Ugh, I mistakenly said Newell because I'm writing a long analysis of the HP film right now, comparing the directors with each other...
I can only describe this video as perfect. Even if the movie does screw up the Prince's Tale (which it inevitably will), at least I'll have this. Well done.
@1SHAZ1 It didn't, I'm pretty sure that they get EVERYTHING, because the scene was quite, quite long. According to MuggleNet(they went to an advanced screening). So rest assured. IF they did mess it up however, I planned on walking out.... or screaming. Lol
@macie47 I really loved what they did in the movie - but I wish it was longer. There were a lot of things they missed out. e.g. the reason why they stopped being friends.
@1SHAZ1 Yup, you're right! They missed some things (like yeah they should have shown Snape calling Lily mudblood). But given the duration and the importance the director and producers gave to that chapter in the book, I think they did a good job. :) I want to watch the last movie again!
@1SHAZ1 Yeah, it could've been longer, but we have to keep in mind that they only had so much time to tell the rest of the story and it was (at least I thought) obvious that James and Lily's getting together was the end of Snape's involvement in Lily's life. Or at least, the OFFICIAL end.
@LordZoldemort I'm so glad to hear that.....The Prince's Tale was my favorite part of the Deathly Hallows book. I always knew Snape was good and his story is so powerful.
This was the most heartbreaking video I think I've ever seen. The coloring, the editing, the music choice. It was all so beautiful and sad:/ The Prince, who put everything before him self. Snape deserves so much more credit then he gets. And the Actress who protrays Lily is beautiful. Amazing job on this one
this is really well done, thanks for sharing .. the reason thos the split the film in two is to finally live up to the book.. it is also one of my fave parts too xxx
I thought the Prince's Tale was the best part of the whole movie series. It was 7 minutes of pure emotion, and I thought they executed it perfectly.

I'm curious... were you disappointed by how they made it in the film? Personally I was surprised; I feared it would be like Snape's memory in OotP, but they hadn't even rushed it as much as I thought they would... but the best thing about it, of course, was Alan Rickman's phenomenal acting!

@ImmortalSparrow When he was hugging Lily's corpse (it sounds gross) in Godric's Hollow, it was so sad.

@ATMA301 Yes, it really was.. I cried so hard! =P

Keep on idolatrizing the books. =)
JK Rowling does it better.
(sorry for my english.. =D)

@ImmortalSparrow I was very afraid that they won't give it its worth, but thank god I was pleased it wasn't rushed it was satisfying that I cried my eyes out as if one of my parents died, as if I didn't see this coming, I think Alan was brilliant <3

@ImmortalSparrow I agree, but I think they could have made it as deep as the book.
pgulukota in reply to ImmortalSparrow (Show the comment) 7 months ago
@ImmortalSparrow that scene in the movie was as good as it was in book if not better. It told its story while switching back between Lily's death and Snape discovering Lily's corpse. So smart.

If you ask me, they didn't mess it up. It was amazing, more than I could expect.

SHAME ON YOU.
the tale was beautifully told and pictured in the movie, I cried so badly because it was more than I ever hoped for.
Watch the movie and delete this video.

And yet Newell blatantly disregarded-
shahoney in reply to amourpouramour (Show the comment) 6 months ago
-cont. I actually like this video better than the last HP film. And I have so much more to say about the flow of the film itself, but this is youtube and I'd rather not prolong it. My point is, a lot of "Potter" fans are too biased and excited to see the last film that they can't judge the film as a film. I'm both a Potterhead and a film buff, and I say Yates slapped rushed shitty clips together and didn't bother conversing with his editors about consistency.
shahoney in reply to amourpouramour (Show the comment) 6 months ago
PS: I meant YATES. Ugh, I mistakenly said Newell because I'm writing a long analysis of the HP film right now, comparing the directors with each other...

This video is just heartbreaking. It's one of my favorites!
I read that Lily and Severus aren't friends in the movie. "He admires her from afar."
Frankly I expected this, but I couldn't help but be extremely pissed off. I want to kill that freaking screenwriter. LOL!!!

I can only describe this video as perfect. Even if the movie does screw up the Prince's Tale (which it inevitably will), at least I'll have this. Well done.

1SHAZ1 in reply to LordZoldemort (Show the comment) 9 months ago
@1SHAZ1 It didn't, I'm pretty sure that they get EVERYTHING, because the scene was quite, quite long. According to MuggleNet(they went to an advanced screening). So rest assured. IF they did mess it up however, I planned on walking out.... or screaming. Lol
blahhhhh10940 in reply to 1SHAZ1 (Show the comment) 8 months ago
@1SHAZ1 Fortunately they did not screw up. This story was one of fave scenes in DH2. :)
macie47 in reply to 1SHAZ1 (Show the comment) 8 months ago 3
@macie47 I really loved what they did in the movie - but I wish it was longer. There were a lot of things they missed out. e.g. the reason why they stopped being friends.
1SHAZ1 in reply to macie47 (Show the comment) 8 months ago
@1SHAZ1 Yup, you're right! They missed some things (like yeah they should have shown Snape calling Lily mudblood). But given the duration and the importance the director and producers gave to that chapter in the book, I think they did a good job. :) I want to watch the last movie again!
macie47 in reply to 1SHAZ1 (Show the comment) 8 months ago
@1SHAZ1 Yeah, it could've been longer, but we have to keep in mind that they only had so much time to tell the rest of the story and it was (at least I thought) obvious that James and Lily's getting together was the end of Snape's involvement in Lily's life. Or at least, the OFFICIAL end.
Kairixriku in reply to 1SHAZ1 (Show the comment) 8 months ago
I agree with you that they'll probably mess this part up.
where did you get your clips

This was the most heartbreaking video I think I've ever seen. The coloring, the editing, the music choice. It was all so beautiful and sad:/ The Prince, who put everything before him self. Snape deserves so much more credit then he gets. And the Actress who protrays Lily is beautiful. Amazing job on this one
