  • Good question, I wonder if Moon ever did play a closed hi hat? I'll investigate.

  • I remember seeing this guy ply with Firehose in the '80s and my God was he amazing. What an inspiration to young bass players.

  • how high is this guy?

  • @mzd132 he's high on life, coltrane, and bass frequencies

  • i love this video

    mike is awesome!!

  • I love how Watt strictly speaks with San Pedro slang. You won't hear it anywhere else. It might just be the only thing interesting about San Pedro, besides being the home of the Minutemen

  • Me and another guy I know look LOT like Shaun I wish that were me getting to introduce the great Mike Watt

  • Mike Watt would make a great music educator. He's so passionate and knowledgeable.

  • I have never heard someone say "prac" instead of practice -- just another way that Watt is an original.

  • A legend giving props to the legends ! Watt isThe Great Sage!

  • i could listen to mike talk for ages, he's so into what he's talking about. he could probably make a story about a dog taking a shit sound interesting.

  • This is SOOO SOOO GOOD!!!

    Incredibly inspiring ...

    Thanks for uploading.

  • Mike Watt is such a gentle teacher.

  • No disrespect, but I gotta disagree with Watt about the live show being "the real deal." A band can get into the jam and play just as hot when nobody is there as when there are thousands present; no external validation is necessary. I think Watt would agree.

  • @ptolemny Watt wasn't talking about validation, just the rush of playing in front of a crowd. I agree that you can have magical moments at rehearsal, but, to me, the live experience is the most fun because you can't stop and redo anything.

  • @ptolemny I'd disagree with that, there is no substitute for a live setting and trying to replicate what you do in the ease of the rehearsal space with the heat and the lights and the weight of playing live

  • You sir.... are an idiot mikes a genuis

  • hmm...

i guess it's easier to play-

but you'll never compare to the boys at Baker's Keyboard n Lounge

While I'm sure watty could get down like none other...

  • you can tell mike watt loves life

  • @motorwawt: I think yours is my favourite comment I've ever seen on You Tube. Thank you.

  • Mike's so groovy when he talks.

  • MIke Watt is a god in flanel and CTs.

  • YA!..i'm rather sure..teh best cover song i ever saw live..

teh early 90's 1:30am , (easter morning) at Teh 40watt in Athens GEorgia...Firehose doing The Who's 'Quick One'

  • man, what i would do to see that happen again!

  • someone should count how many times he says "cat"

  • I love how excited he sounds

  • watt lives and breathes music, he's the living embodiment of what rock and roll is all about.

  • when your Mike Watt of San Pedro your allowed to say and do what you want!

    he's the fucking man.

  • no doubt. Mike Watt is a hero of mine.

  • it really bothers me that he says prac instead of practice

  • yeah, i agree... just silly

  • you probably rehearse.

If you're a Watt fan, you'll get that joke...

  • "I know a lot of stuff is marketed on genre, but part of our duty is [to] ruin all that." - Mike Watt

Genius! The music industry is changing, reluctantly as always. It is the duty of the artists to drag the industry into the 21st century or destroy it entirely. Either move with the music or get out of the way!

  • that was rad. muchas gracias
