  • One could never find him again singing like that.

  • Wunderschönes Lied, wunderschöne Stimme und noch dazu eine hübsche Sängerin, würd ich gern mal live sehen :-)

    Очень хорошо, спазибо

Thanks a lot for uploading, great song, great voice

  • Erstklassige Vorführung!

    Eine wunderschöne Stimme!

    Ausgezeichnet!

    Vielen, vielen Dank, gege8emeciel.

  • Beautiful, extremely strong voice. I don't understand the arguments regarding her posture, because her performance does not lack any breath at all. In the contrary, I am feeling this is sung too loudly. Gretchen is desperately dreaming of Faust, but, constricted to a woman's role at that time - sitting solitary in her chamber, am Spinnrad! -, she is not exclamating her confusion towards others. I feel this aspect is missing in this, in all other technical terms very beautiful, performance.

  • The voice is magnificent. So is the rest.

  • absolutely well done, great voice and beautiful looking

  • I believe her greatest gift is her expressive rich voice. I will remenber her name and am looking forward to her success in the future. YK

  • Her intonation is bad. And the posture! Mein Gott, how do you sing bent over like that, woman!

But I love this song and I think the emotion in this video is great.

  • Shut up.

  • can I pick on diction too? lol, Aniretak is right! Posture afftects the breath and sound!

  • Acutally I was referring to his/her insolent and ridiculous manners of expression. "Mein Gott"? I'm still cracking up.

  • This is really really good. Geraldine delivers so much power with such a controlled and genuine performance. She is obviously a very good soprano.

  • Brilliant.

  • Schubert rocks!

  • she came too early on 3:20 too.

  • This is a mesmerizing performance. I like the operatic interpretation of the song, with a powerful, intense rendering, as opposed to the melancholy and literally pathetic way this is often sung. You have a strong, beautiful voice, good German, excellent gestures and facial expression.... Merci.

  • Please work on your german diction. It's a bit painful. And I feel like you need to connect more with the character you're portraying - have you looked up a literal translation? That might help. Still a good performance. Your voice has a lot of potential.

  • Ummm. Beautiful tone. Nice dress. But Bad posture really for this style of music. And also, why hasn't anyone noticed that she comes in about a beat early 1.19-20. This is clearly wrong. What is going on with rhythm??? Although much of it is really lovely, this is a classic example of why singers get flak from other musicians about lack of rhythmic drive.

  • ooh, I don't like the dress. It makes me feel nervous.

Speaking of posture, have you seen Ian Bostridge???

  • @doimakyouhornybaby I'm afraid you are right (1.19-20) I just heared it right now, and yes it is clearly wrong.

  • i love it!!! better than most i've heard

  • Wonderful

  • Her golden voice fills all small parts of my soul. What nobleness in interpretation!

  • magnificent voice!

  • This can be a very tiring number to sing. I did not expect her voice to be so big, and it is quite good for one so young. However, she must stand up straight and loosen up some. I think she could become quite good some day. Brava.

  • Don't lean forward so much, you cut off your air flow. Your ears should be in line with your shoulders. Your beautiful voice will pull the audience in, you don't need to lean into them! =)

  • That's hard! I thought it was pretty good.

  • lovely material lovely voice!

  • Eine schöne Stimme! Work on your -er endings auf deutsch.

  • You have such a beautiful, huge voice!!! It's just great.

  • lovely. :D

    bryan.

  • You have a wonderful voice! This is how Schubert inteded the song to sound! Your German is excellent, your voice sits perfectly, FANTASTIQUE!!

  • just incredible!

    this is a beautiful interpretation...

    good luck!

  • wow so excellent. German is a very expressive language. The A isn't flat, exactly but it sounds a little strained. I could use more expression at the beginning, sound more Verruckt.

  • What does verrukt mean? I can not find it in any dictionarey !

  • It's spelt verruckt, but there's an umlaut on the u. It means lost or crazy. (It's german).

  • Just in case you read this, I want to let you know that I am singing this lied currently and have a voice in similar strength to yours. I find that it really helps to use free head voice; in other words, don't try to color the voice that high with chest voice at all! It will make those high notes much easier, trust me. Set the previous notes up correctly and the placement of that high A will be effortless. Keeping working.

  • Big voice, no emotion whatsoever. I agree, the song is difficult, and German is just an ugly language. She does go flat on the A, but she should be called a dramatic soprano, and this was written for a high lyrical soprano.

  • German may sound ugly when spoken, but it is one of the most expressive languages, and an utter joy to listen to when sung well. This performer has her difficulties, but on the whole does beautifully. The warmth of her tone really complements this piece.

  • Dear Bad poet,

I hope you are not a singer. Any singer who would comment that any language is ugly is not interested in the singing process or repertoire. What an immature remark.

  • I don't think you understood my comment. I was replying to lizzie's comment when she said German was ugly. Let me clarify -- I am a singer, and German is my favorite language to sing in and to listen to. It is a harsher language than, say French or Italian, but let me reiterate my statement that it is beautifully expressive. It is the very traits that may seem ugly to some which make German such a fascinating and intricate language.

  • German isn't an ugly language!!! You've probably just seen too many WW2 movies. Listen to some Dietrich Fischer Dieskau and see how it's supposed to be done.

  • Fischer Dieskau really is the master of Lieder! His Papageno is the best I've ever heard, such a lovely voice. Fantastic Wozzeck, too.

  • She has a big voice. I like it. I think it can help her to use the consonants much more! And the high notes will become more in there place when you try it with pulling up your nose. Its a difficult song! It is a mini opera really.

  • Ouch! She goes flat on the high A near the end, and on the F before that. And she doesn't sound like a heartbroken lover.
