Just the fact the NPC stayed on the rock while fighting the dogs must surely be a huge selling point - in every other FPC the NPC would 'chase' the enemy and end up getting killed or in a bad position. but not in STALKER it seems! Great preview by the way! DO the other STALKER games!

thats funny, i get 50-60fps with my single GTX280. thats on max 1920x1200

He's got V-sync on, capped at 60fps. You'd be looking at an extra 2/3 performance over a single card.

WOW, i just downloaded a NEW patch (thats 2 patches in one week), installed it, and now i have to start from the beginning again. thats about 10 ours lost.

they arent instilling great confidence that the next stalker game wil be any good at all.

they need to get THQ back, cos quicksilver dont seem to give a shit as long as people buy.

its good that devs keep p[atching their games, but no game should be so bad there is 2 patches in the first week opf release (the first one out before the game)

i normally find that v-sync doesnt make much differense. except for an LCD monitor.

i use a 19 inch CRT, and i can never see any difference at all.

this is a good game completely ruined by bugs.

i cant complete ANY of my secondary missions now, and if i try to get new ones the game just crashes. this is shit.

if you are thinking of buying this game, i would recommend waiting 6 months till it is finished.

ok. i keep getting the blowout everytime i go to the garbage, yet i have nowhere there to hide, as the bandits all kill me as soon as i try to go there.

i can go to the dark valley, or cordon, and hide there, but as soon as i go back to the garbage, another blowout comes.

i have an AK-SU the clear sky guys, but it wont end the quest, a PDA for the freedom guys. same. and i keep being told to "hold the point until help ariives" at the entrance to the garbage, but no-one ever comes.

dont call me a moron. i have just downloaded the patch (a fucking patch already!!! shows how shitty this game is), and that has fixed this GLITCH.

dont call me a moron, i have had more experience with weapons than you could ever know.

and shooting at a tree will not penetrate the other side. not a tree of that size. and even bullets that hit a thinner section of the tree would ricochet in all different directions.

well, i have 3 quests that wont finish, and the game keeps crashing, so, yes... its shitty.

the gameplay is pretty good, but a few months more dev time would have helped things greatly.

the reason i am on youtube now is to see if anyone else is having the many problems i am, and if there is a solution.

i have been gaming for 10 yrs, so i know my shit. this game is far more broken than the first one was. not to say it isnt enjoyable and fun, but it IS shitty, in that it is very broken

i have gotten past that part now that i could use the tree as cover.

there is another patch coming, which doesnt bode well for the game

the marsh area at the start is the biggest problem i have found so far, you dont seem to be able to move sometimes from one place to another without getting killed by a horde of bandits making their way through.

and even though i turned off the crosshair, as soon as i switch to pistol it comes back. something to do with the crappy iron sights for the pistol

despite this problem, nw that i have gotten to the cordon, it has improved considerably.

i dont like some of the new weapon sounds, particularly the shotgun, but the new reload animation are pretty good.

you mention in your vid that lighting distance cant be changed. i think that is because you have the dynamic lighting on full, running DX10. i run dynamic lighting normal, DX9, and can alter the lighting distance, but not the god rays.

i think thats it anyway.

all in all, it isnt nearly as good as the original, i dont think. but i got it for £18 from play, so i think that it is worth that much, just to find out how strelok got into that death truck.

stalker is one of my fave games ever, but this one doesnt really do it justice, although it is kinda fun.

i prefer the original iron sights for the pistols, as well as most of the weapon sounds, but the new AI cover system works quite well, although they still do fairly stupd things a lot of the time

PCGamer gave it about 68%, and PCZone gave it 89%.

i think that if you take the good things from the PCZ review, and the bad things from the PCG review, it is about right.

although the score for the original didnt get 90%, and PCZ say this one is better, i would probably give it about 80% so far. not too bad, but not nearly the game the first one was

a tree that is fully grown will easily deflect a bullet, if not stopping it completely.

the thickness of a full grown tree is more than adequate to stop rounds of that caliber. especially from that range.

games are supposed to be fun, not realistic, anyway.

if you ever played a game that could exactly reproduce the battlefield, you would be too busy shitting your pants and crying in the corner to play the game.

and if stalker is so real, why dont they have the real names for the weapons?

i have just been watching the trailer : stalker clear sky realism-weather.

people have been having a go at me, saying "oh, its just realistic to get shot through a tree trunk"

some games go on and on about how realistic the weapons and damage is. i hate that.

games are nothing like realistic combat, in any way, but they DO claim to be.

i only play games that have only a passing acquaintance with "realsim", but it was you that said "moron. if ur behind a tree u wil get shooted.. ".

and since my last msg and this one, i have found that the game gets even shittier the longer you play it.

i can now guarantee a crash to desktop if i manage (which isnt often) to find someone willing to give me a secondary mission.

i click on "how can i help you?", and... back to desktop, EVERYTIME.

this is the buggiest game i have played since boiling point.

secondary missions dont end when they should (i now have at least 5 of these stuck in my PDA), and i STILL cant join the bandit faction
