  • Maestro total !!!

  • which composer is this? Beautiful piece!

  • he manages to give a great performance even without moving like a madman

    *cough Vengerov cough*

And the wide vibrato goes great with the peice as well

  • He plays absolutely fantastic... perfect intonation, such a warm tone. It was priceless to visit his masterclass. He is a chief, in every way. Big time!

  • someone has the score viola piano? of this piece??pls!!

  • @escolastiko1 I need it also..

  • I'm impressed!

  • its much better than youri bashmet.

  • STRAORDINARIO !!! SUBLIME !!! UOMINI COME QUESTO SEGNANO LA STORIA !!!

  • he know how to play it

  • The Best of the Best

  • Bravo!

  • Yes, this is absolutely wonderful playing. I know him personally, but have never heard him play on this modern looking viola. These days he plays an older and probably slightly smaller instrument. Does anybody know who made the viola in this video? I love the way he makes it sound.

  • Arguably the best viola playing you will ever hear!

  • Great musician!!!!

  • I like the disarming vulnerability of his long notes.

  • perfect.... kugel is a really professional violist and has big talent whereas bashmet is a really professional musician and has talent . thanks to both of them its really good that we can listen to so different and beautiful performances.

  • Yes, I like it!

  • That violia is about 17 inches,sounds just beautiful,great perfomance,lovely.

  • i respect bashmet, and have a lot of his recordings, but never quite got used to his supercharged sounding vibrato. i would rather listen and emulate kugel, but he's not quite as popular as bashmet. oh well. both are superb.

  • shows how different peoples tastes are, i would kill to have bashmets supercharged vibrato! haha. both really amazing.

  • yeah that's funny XD. it annoys me personally

    i prefer focused tones

  • Wonderful tone! Wonderful playing! I'm touched...

  • So sounds a heart, directly connected to the soul of God.

  • An unknown gem by Benda!

  • Magnífica interpretación, buen sonido y afinación ¡Enhorabuena!

  • wow what mastery.

  • Maestro forever!!!!

  • Lovely

I've never heard better viola player

  • go listen to yuri bashmet. he's much better

  • too bad bashmet cant ever play without music

  • not being aggressive or anything, but whats wrong with that? i usually never play without music in concerts on piano, (my memory is pretty bad!)

  • Moron. Let's see you crank out the sheer amount of repertoire these guys play and do it all from memory.

  • Don't you think this guy also has an amazing touching sound?

  • i think he lacks on dynamics slightly, i find that his tone is beautiful along with that lovely vibrato, although i find this performance slightly bland, i prefer a much more darker, juicy evil sound on the viola, (if that makes sense :0)i find once you've listened to bashmet, theres no going back to other viola players. sorry. what do you think?

  • They are playing in different key, bashmet plays one forth lower, so it will sound naturally darker. Bashmet has higher talent, plays with more fantasy, but I was just talking about sound.

  • yes ok.

  • Great playing! I love it!
