  • yak you yes!

  • that yakety yak reminds me of billy mayes because he was QUITE a talker himself!!!

  • Never make a yak angry - he'll break your TV set.

  • That yak could've been more civil, when the announcer called him a "Yakkity Yakkity Yak", he could've said "Don't talk back!"

  • @Akira625

    Very funny thought!

  • I am 40-something now....this scared the crap out of me when I was 5! But I remember laughing and laughing so hard...thanks for posting this!

  • Yeow! The yak lost his yahoo and went yowzah and didn't even turn yellow. It seems like yesterday when I saw this. It reminded me of my youth though mind ye, I'm not that old, aye! Yeah, yeah, yeah!

  • 0:47 scared the crap out of me as a kid.

  • I have to say sesame street had some weird stuff that really scared me the m that ate the tv screen the yak that broke the tv

  • Guess this yak can't take constructive criticism.

  • -You're not an ordinary yak you know.....

    -Oh?

-You're a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease yak.

(charging, smashing and heavy weezing ensues.)

  • My gosh i didn't know Sesame Street was so old.

  • @djpablito

"Sesame Street" dates all the way back to 1969, and Jim Henson created Kermit the Frog (who was on "Sesame Street" before he was on "The Muppet Show") a long time before that. I have fond memories of watching "Sesame Street" in the 1970s.

  • I recall that when this segment was rerun around the late 1990s, they modified the ending so when the yak charged toward the screen, instead of it ending on a black screen, the glass would shatter away to reveal the beginning of the next segment!

  • they only showed examples where the Y was used as a consonant..

  • I remember this one. I can't remember if I was scared of it or not.

  • I remember when I saw this when I was little, after the crash effect, it had the Sesame Street News logo zoom up to the screen very fast afterward! (I believe it was the News Flash segment about the London Fog.) A double-zoom attack!

  • This yak sound sounds like Vegeta.

  • sounds like puumbaa!

  • he sounds like Charlie the drunk Guinea Pig from Smosh :D

  • I so love these retro Sesame shorts lady bug picnic the alligator kin one and this one they make me feel happy and it makes me think when i was a child LOL I love them lol...

  • Looks like he crossed the line with that yak.

  • why did I favorite this? O.o

  • This is the best video I ever seen have not seen it in 22 years its still funny

  • I didn't understand what he meant by "yakety yakety yak" when I was this as a little kid. Now I know he meant that the yak wouldn't shut up.

  • LOL you are not an ordinary yak.. YAK:oh? YOURE A YAKITY YAKITY YAK! *vileont abuse*

  • whoa! he has target logos in his eyes at 0:48

  • I think he's a bad cover of Mr. T

  • @ReeceDK This cartoon predates "Mr. T."

  • it would be funny if the yak actually sings yakety yak!

  • I wonder if it was calling him a yakity yakity yak that ticked him off, or the covering of his face with the popping up words.

  • don't talk back

    or he'll but ya

  • 96 sum yak pride

  • sHOULDN'T HAVE CALLED HIM THAT! lolroflmaobbq

  • OOOH! Dat hadda hoirt!

  • I always used to want to leave the room when I saw this skit. I worried eventually he would actually make it out of the TV on one of those charges...

  • SO DID I!

    lol!

  • @MrMurod ME TOO!

  • yak yakety yak yak yak

  • Oy! I never thought I'd see this sketch again. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for yaks, and I know it's from watching sketches like this one and the yak songs on animal alphabets.

  • Yak, You, Yes, & Yakkity , Yakkity, Yak,

  • yakity yak dont talk back

  • Damn that yak talks alot... lol Only sesame street!

  • For some reason, this yak reminds me of the end Benny Hill theme "Yakety Sax" IDK, maybe it's the yakety part...

  • May a toothless yak gum your grandmother's wheat thins.

  • Oooh...that's a good one!!! Lol!! :)

  • He must have chest congestion, that yak.

  • I love the ending in which the Yak gets angry. Absolutely priceless.

  • Being Australian, where animals for zoos cost far too much to purcahse or quarantine prevents imports, I have never seen a yak.

  • woah.... that yak is an inspiration for me....he picks words with so much skill....all hail yak

  • yak, you yes,

o yes Yakety Yak who like to yak about you and yak

  • yakakakaaaaaa, this video makes me wanna yakk

  • I ALWAYS loved this one - don't mess wid da Yak

  • Yak! ;o)

  • imagine if that yak douchebag existed?

    "hello, harry!!"

"WOW BOTH THOSE WORDS START WITH H!!! WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!"

    "you're a hairy hairy harry!"

    "RAMPAGE!!!"

  • LOL!!

  • Imagine if this cartoon was in 3-D?

LOOK OUT FOR THE RAMPAGING YAKITY YAKITY YAKITY YAK!!!!!!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!

(CRASHING & SOUND OF GLASS BREAKING)

That would be freaky! Gotta love the sesame streeyt cartoon classic!

  • Yes, that would look amazing if this cartoon was made in 3-D. It would look real that the yak was just about to hit you with it's horns.

It's funny, when I saw this skit when I was very young, and when I saw the yak running and crashing into the screen, I thought he broke my TV, and I would always cry saying "he broke my TV", haha.

  • i miss sesame street :(

  • hehehe ... yakity yakity yak!

  • Don't talk back.

  • This is classic stuff, I love it

  • I used to call my grandma "Yayou" and my grandpa "Macmoo." I'm pretty sure this video had something to do with some of that. LOL

    I was born in '79.

  • That yak charged at my computer screen and broke it! Now i have to get a new computer monitor

  • I would say the same thing when I was very young thinking that he broke my TV and I would have to get a new one.

  • @jackwolf131

Well, he's not an ordinary yak, you know.

  • Cut him some slack-- don't give him any flak-- or you'll suffer from a serious... yak attack! (One that could cause your screen to crack...)

    =P

  • lawlz

  • Better cut that yak some slack.

  • Respect others and you won't get hurt. lol

  • yaks rule

  • I like this skit a lot. A cool character, that yak; particularly when he charges. His voice is great. It also teaches people that it's not nice to call others names.

  • he sounds like ask a ninja :D

or rather, ask a ninja sounds like a yak

  • "Yes. I AM A YAK!"

  • w/ a ny accent lol

  • lol sesame street is promoting violence. the yak attacks the screen Mwhahahahaha!! gO YAK GO!

  • aw, i wish he started playing with a yellow yo-yo, lol. anywho, cool post!!!

  • ugh! He broke my youtube window :(

  • Yakety, yakety yak. That was just too funny! Thanks for posting this. :)

  • How much does that yak sound like Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood? I keep expecting him to say, "I drink your milkshake..."

  • Don't ever tell a yak that he talks too much, even if he does!

  • brings back memories....

  • that yak hurt my feelings.

  • just fascinating

  • 'You're a yakity yakity yak' - I still love that line! :D

  • So do I. As ol' Mr. Yak was stampeding, I can still picture it now: the narrator suddenly pleading, "Oh, no, no, no, please, no, no- I didn't mean you any harm, honest I didn't! It was only a jo--AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!" as he gets impaled in the yak's left horn and gets cut by the glass from the camera...

  • yanyak

  • that yak got piiiiiissed lol

  • Cute.

  • Hmm Intresting

  • My favorite. That yak needs to get the stick out of his ass. He's got anger issues. too funny

  • Can someone tell if Sesame Street was also playing a "Yakety Yak" video with Bugs Bunny and some recording artist back in the 90's? I was curious about the video, but can't find it on You Tube!

  • You're thinking of the public service ad for recycling which came out in 1991. It was shown occasionally on "Sesame Street", but was mainly seen between other shows and had no Muppets. Known as "Yakety Yak - Take It Back", it starred a slew of celebs, including Bugs Bunny, Pat Benatar, Quincy Jones, Queen Latifah, even Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the song's original writers. Alas, I can't find it on YouTube anywhere.

  • Thanks! Yes, that's the video I was thinking. It was featured on Sesame Street and E Entertainment back in 91.

  • Comment removed

  • I'd say that if any kind of animated character charged directly at the camera, there's a good chance that the child watching would get freaked out and hide out of fear of getting trampled.

  • LOL

  • When that announcer said "You're a yakety, yakety yak," I was expecting the Yak to respond, "Don't talk back!"

  • Me too

    That ruined my day

  • I was too. With the yak responding to that, I thought he would also say to the announcer "you hurt my feelings!" where the announcer said to him "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just trying to have some fun talking to you saying a joke since you're a smart yak." Then at the end of the skit, I thought it would've been nice if either the yak or the announcer said to the audience "boys and girls, never talk back to someone who talks a lot or their feelings will be hurt."

  • yak can't take constructive criticism.

  • That announcer had it coming. Great little skit, nice yak character - particularly when he charges (I love his voice).

  • :D This reminds me a bit of the late 60's early 70's when America was on an acid trip. lol

  • hurray for acid!

  • I remember the end of this - even yaks have egos! Yes, yaks yammer, yell, and yank!

  • lmfao lmfao ! ahahahhahahahha

    myy favoriteee <3 (;

  • that yak needs to cut down on his smoking.

  • quite frankly my dear i don't give a damn! XD

  • YAK YOU YES

  • That yak didn't like that comment.

  • Who can blame him for not liking that?

  • yakity yakity yak. I loved this one when I was little.

  • yakity yakity yak :D

  • this is my favorite video

  • lol

  • great clip but it was out of sync! and the narration sounded kinda like Dave Seville form Alvin and the chipmunks. (TV cartoon debuing sometime in the late 70's)

  • that was a very yakity yakity yak indeed

  • That is a yakity yakity yak.

  • ........this skit was funny, especially when

the yak would run up to the TV screen at the

    guy who said "yakkity,yakkity,yak".

  • i like the bit where he says yackety yackety yak

  • and then the yak charges, that's my favorite part

  • Does anyone else think the endof this video is really similar to the Silly Bull from The Letter People (another kids' show from the 70s)?

  • You should NOT have said that.

    HIT IT!

    *music plays*

"His name has just been spoken, so there must be words to be broken! No need to explain in full, watch out, watch out for the Silly Bull!"

  • LOL!! I love how the yak has a New YAWK accent :-)

  • New Yawk or New Yak? :)

  • New Yak ! New Yak!

  • That charging Yak scared the crap out of me as a kid.

  • Me, too. I'd forgotten this one.

  • That makes (at least) two of us...*shudder* I'd reach for the clicker, the second that fellow called the yak a "yakity yakity yak"!

  • wooow.... moo

  • somene look up "yiddish with dick and jane". it's not my video. in fact, i have no videos. but tht one is funny.

  • It was an interesting fact!

  • ive decided... i love you

  • This one was the best thing! I like it. You are a Yakity Yakity Yak! LOL!

  • Complete with "Bullseyes".

  • so i herd u liek yaks

  • I used to love this show, and I don't remember this sketch too well, but chances are it probably gave me a nightmare once or twice too. :P

  • "You're not a normal yak you know. You're a yakity yakity yak!" "GRRRRRHBHBHHB!"

This video is like, prehistoric. When was this show aired?

  • ╔╗╔═╦╗

    ║╚╣║║╚╗

    ╚═╩═╩═╝

  • You're a Yakity Yakity Yak. I still say that when someone talks too much. lol

  • It's not an ordinary yak attack, it's a yakity yakity yak attack

  • I wish i was a yak, they are really great.

  • OMG IS THAT JON LOVITZ???!?!?

  • That yak's gonna get seven years bad luck.

  • Funny!

  • Yes... Fascinating. lol

  • GORED!!!!!

  • I made a parody of that clip where when the yak charges toward the screen, the Viacom "V of Doom" theme plays. I didn't want to upload it to Youtube so I wouldn't anger Viacom, but SOMEONE snatched it from me and did the same!

  • Search "yak of doom" on google and click the first link for that clip!

*Was also was scared of that yak charging* (shudder)

The V of Doom gave me chills, (not so much nightmares), so do a search for that too...if you dare!

  • I did that, sir.

  • It freaked me out a bit too, lmao!

  • LOL! I'm glad I'm not the only kid who was afraid of this! I used to hide behind the recliner as soon as this cartoon would start, peeking out and then ducking as soon as the yak charged!

  • I was thinking of this skit for a while in the last two years. At last I found it and I love the letter "Y" for that reason. I like the third word that comes up in this exerpt. Say yes to your life!

  • Yakkity yak! Yakkity yak! Don't talk back.

  • Classic!!

  • I remember this...Good and funny!

  • LOL! Funny, I just remembered the last part of this skit where the yak goes berzerk,... he used to scare the crap out of me as a kid. I remember closing my eyes at that last part. Ahh, crazy childhood memories.

  • @Ervicito Me too.

  • Does anyone have the Y for Yawn clip? I think it was the tree yawning at the end. I remember it was very soothing to me.

  • Dude I swear when I was little I would hide behind the couch when he would crash into the screen.

  • oh god, me too. i got to the point where i'd grab a pillow when i saw the word "yak" on the screen.

  • Does anyone have that skit on a cowboy with an X marking everything in sight, Cowboy X? I would appreciate a response if you have that one. Thanks.

  • Oh, I WISH someone would post Cowboy X! I won't spoil the surprise ending of that skit, but the name of the town is Smiddler's Gulch, which still makes me laugh today, 30 years later.

  • i love old school Sesame Street

  • What about that song, you take an M that's an m and an AN, an, you put them all together and they say MAN! That taught me to read and it would thrill me to see it again!

  • i remember that! they would use different words.

  • Gee, I thought I was the only one who have memeories of the AN song. Indeed it would be fun to see it again.

  • Too bad they didn't use the "Yakkity Yak" song. Plus, the effect they did of the yak charging into the camera and breaking the lens was pretty cheesy but goofy.

  • Memories!!

  • what a yakkity yakkity yak

  • lol! Yakkity Yak! Does anyone know where to find the "Put Down the Duckie" song with Ernie and Hoots the Owl, and a bunch of celebrities?

  • That yak sounds crazy! :P

  • Uh-oh now the yak's gonna attack you lol!
