Re Comments , I love this song, & Waylon , How could anyone compare with Waylon , with all his faults , he was just the BEST. & you cant expect Shooter, to match his Daddy , i'm sure he will do his best ,& Waylon would be happy with that. ~ Arthur
this song is just plain amazing...not many songs can make the hair stand up on my neck but this one did...id give anything to have had the chance to meet this man
This is really different then the original song and i like them both.I've been hooked on Waylon since i heard Rainy Day Woman on the radio.Saw Waylon at quite afew concerts in the 70's & 80's and for the last time in1992 at a county fair in Wellington Oh. R.I.P Waylon your still the best.
yeah that sucked they only played a minute of this song......i like this version better than the origanal....nobody has waylons voice...but it was cool when shooter sang the first couple lines...sounded like his dad for a minute....
I like Shooter but was dissapointed when he played this song last Monday...he quit barely half way through the song, missing the build up in the middle, & the steel guitar parts. Nobody can do this song like Waylon, not even shooter, not even close! I like what Shooter does in "old friend" off the wolf. He is good at mixing syles.. Just my 2 cents worth. What do you think?
thanks for the chords man..i love this song i think ill go learn it now......i watched the show with shooter and jamey johnson it was good.....shooter sounds haunting like his father.
Shooter and Jamie Johnson play together, its being aired on CMT pure Monday 3/23/09. The promo showed Shooter singing this song, should be good, check it out and let me know what ya' all think. Cheers
Man I can't wait to get this CD. Have heard the whole thing and it seems like even from his grave, Ole Hoss takes it to another level. Great post, thanks!
The caption on the koala bear picture is hilarious! "He's almost as cute as Willie, quipped the RCA singer/songwriter, 'and I don't think he can sing either."
i'm old enough to remember the original version of "don't you thing this outlaw bit has done got out of hand". i love the new version...it has such a blues sound...i loved when waylon played the blues.
thanks for posting this. love your selection of pictures too.
Thanks for this,I havent heard the whole album yet, I saw him in Salinas in 81' Jessie brought Shooter out,he must have been about two years old, I still have pictures of that.
In the picture at 5:06, where Jessi and Waylon are holding Shooter, Waylon really, really, I mean 100% completely looks like a twin to Shooter. Reminds me of how my dad looked exactly like me at that age.
i hate country but this is good music.

Yes yes yes! Haunting is the perfect word! Waylon never liked the labels they tried to stick him with, and this song says it all! Waylon forever!

i cant tell? is this shooter? or a remix of the origanal with waylon? i like this better than the origanal
DESTROYPOOLS 2 years ago 3
It's definitely Waylon. I suspect from the title, however, he is singing it with Shooter's band. Just guessing though.
