NOOOOO THEVE BRAINWASHED YOU AND YOU ARE A REMOTE CONTROLL THINGY MIJJEGER!!!!!! jk! we have a cabin in northfork its a 5min drive from there. we use it during the ski season
lol Hey thats really awesome! My dad used to talk so much how he wanted a cabin at Dolly Sods on up north. Have the Green Bank "radio patrol" been around to "fix" your microwave yet?
hahah cool i hike in dolly sods often. my dad hiked in dolly sods in part with his 6 months of training for mt raineer. i luv it there 2 especially the thought of those ww2 bombs
Oh its great up there! We used to go picking blueberries every august with my dad and grandfather. Its a wonder we never found any of those old shells! I so want to take my GPS up there and just go off in a random direction.
uMM IF THIS person who took this video...uhh yall did a BIG NO NO!!!!!! NO ELECTRONICAL Devices in past the fence. they tell u that over and over again....
i work for nrao, so does my father and uncle, at the charlottesville HQ, last month some coworkers and myself went to greenbank to take a tour and they let us walk on the dish, once in a life time oprotunity, it was amazing.
Thats awesome. I knew a guy who got to go up in the reciever box/room. He is a school teacher who did summers there. Me... well hey I got to use the 40ft! lol
You need to have some lessons in Camera work and taking Videos;p)...apart from that I hope one day to tour these amazing installations, I just hope the Arecibo Telescope is still standing by the time I get to it.
The failure of a gusset plate caused the 300ft radio dish to collapse. Information about the telescope and its collapse can be found on the NRAO Greenbank web site.
Yeah, I stayed there for two weeks with Governor's School. We got to use the GBT for an hour. We also got to go up right under the dish. It was amazing.
My family has property near there. You can't even have cell phones there because of this place. It's a beard. They listen to wierd stuff in space and it's all top secret. Strange to me. Watch the History Channel on it.
Yes this was a tour that I have taken many times. I am now a member of the Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers and as such was able to use the 40 ft education scope. Green Bank is about a 5 hour drive from my area.
I love the GBT. Fantastic telescope.

Cool footage. Were you on a tour or something? I wish I had the opportunity to go and check out places like that, I'd have so much fun.
