If Glenn Beck's prophecies come true, everyone is going to need a lot more than two weeks of supplies. Guardian's 3/6/12 month supplies are cheaper and come with the same freebies if you get them from survivalfood.tk
Absolutely. It cannot hurt to be prepared for a worst case scenario. At the very minimum we should all prepare for potential 72 hour crisis like power/utility outage, natural disaster, getting stranded in your vehicle, etc. Job loss is a very real possibility in this economy as well. It is foolish not to at least put together 72 hour kits and vehicle kits at a minimum.
I am not familiar with the kits you refer to, but I will check them out! Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for "biting the bullet" on this kit. I was very close to ordering the $250.00 kit, but now I will just assemble my own kit. We live in the country, so I will probably just can a lot of garden veggies/fruit and rotate them around, and get some dry goods. For people living in city/urban areas where there could be riots, etc., a quick food supply is very important. Thanks again, as you just saved me $250 bucks!
You bet! I was just too curious to see what these kits consisted of. Had to do it. I don't have any desire to disparage Food Insurance at all, but my personal preference would be to assemble my own kit/cache designed around my own tastes and preferences. Just like my survival kits. I like being directly involved in what goes in my kits.
I just wanted to log in and say thanks for the thorough review. Much appreciated. Food inflation has the potential to be a major issue in the future (we already seeing this happening in areas such as the Middle East). It makes sense to investigate products like Food Insurance.
I think the point of these kits is quick, easy and simple ..... my wife and I are getting the 2 week kits (in the back pack ) because if an emergency ever arises , it makes it the easiest to grab and bail out (along with a few other items we have packed up and ready to go, obviously )
so while you could pick better , this is the lazy mans survival pack .....
I agree. Quick, easy and simple... but ideal? I do think it is curious that Food Insurance doesn't put more on their site as to what these kits include, don't you? They aren't particularly upfront about the contents of their kits. When I discovered what was in them, I realized that I could order these type meals myself and assemble my own kit tailored after my own tastes and preferences. This kit is for the lazy person indeed. Similar to production survival kits vs. making your own.
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, that is our Elsa. She is a sweetie.
Yes, I have. I haven't eaten any that came in this particular kit, but I have eaten Mountain House products before. Yes, they are good! I believe I have had their lasagna and their blueberry cheesecake at least. Hard to keep track because I have had other meals from other makers too. I remember that the ones I had were good! You know, not your mother's lasagna, but on a 3 day kayak trip.. pretty good!
I love the dog licking it's chops during the video, funny. Otherwise, I think that is great as part of your food storage, but a storage bin with two weeks of your everyday food (comfort food) can easily berotated through your chicken periodically.
I agree. Two weeks worth of food is not a very big "cache" and could easily just be kept in your pantry. I was mostly interested in seeing what kinds of items Food Insurance put in their kits. I got the two week kit because it is the smallest and cheapest. I am guessing that their longer term kits have similar items in them. Bit the bullet on this two week kit so we could all see what was inside.
Sounds easy enough, but may be a bit tougher than that. Might be a good idea to have some food ready to go at least for those times when hunting and fishing don't produce like you hoped they would.
I think you're right about it being better to assemble a kit like this yourself. You could personalize serving sizes and entree preferences for less money.
Thanks so much! Yeah, I decided to do this review because I could not find one myself. Sorry about the bad audio! Future vids will be better. I really appreciate the kind words. My first YouTube video!

The song at the beginning is very ironic lol. That song sings of Roman Empire, and America.
