My brother, 73, who lives in Florida has terminal cancer. He has Medicare and Humana, but the only way he can receive chemo is have $8000 up-front. He doesn't have $1k much less $8k, so he was denied. I don't expect any better from BO. He voted against medical care for born-alive aborted babies and said his biggest mistake professionally was voting for mentally disabled, Terri Schiavro to live. Surely he holds the same aspects for the elderly... those with status and money get the medical care.

From what I've researched France has far superior health care to any other country in many aspects, although the catch is they limit doctor pay. Denmark has a good system as well. I've spoken with actual French people I did not get my info from the blog of some Joe Schmo who does his research on Wikipedia. and there is none of this "waiting line" business everybody whines of. Open markets are great but they aren't the best when it comes to everything.

We also have higher rates of inpatient deaths. What I want is a mid ground; on one hand, those who can afford insurance company prices, or want to keep their plan, should absolutely have the right to maintain that. But those who cannot afford the prices should at least have access to basic, yet adequate, care. This is a compromise, and compromise is a characteristic of any Republic.
