@polluxrockstar - sadly, guys who build their own electronics do so because of the lack of girls having sex with them all the time. otherwise they would be having sex with girls all the time. at least by my math...
@ThugLifePr0ductions you can - that's exactly what he's doing in the video. all the buttons correspond to an action in the software he's using (Ableton Live)
@WeekSong theres a box at the top of the screen that will say "1 bar". change that to "1/8" or "1/4" or whatever you want, then it will launch the next clip according to that, rather than waiting til the end of 4 beats.
im an electrician by trade and musician by fun holy shit im gonna make a big ass one...love the metal box great idea strong...im gonna look at old metal panel boxes in a whole new way now haha...the knob led tutorial is great too ...can make some rediculously massive bards foor boards its endless....im wondering if the is a limit to how many buttons a usb can support ..im guessing its limitless with the low volt wiring....great man love your box...plumbers appoxy part gave me a nice laugh
Hehe, dove tail joints are a nice detail. Makes me want to design a 50s b movie sci-fi prop controller...complete with a V neck jump suit. Call me DJ Zargon! :)
@youreatoolbox yeh tell me about I can't even get my djm 700 to work in serato with a midi controller and this dude fucking makes em from scratch. amazing
Totally easy. you don't actually have to configure anything, you just plug it in, and it gets recognized like any other midi controller, at least on a mac. I know the newer version of the UMC has a little more functionality you can program in, but i just used it as it was and it worked like a charm
This is honestly the coolest Live controller I've seen. I love the feel of arcade buttons more than any others and the build quality seems really solid. Great job, you've given me a lot of ideas.
i love the sound of pushing arcade buttons!

The box cost about $200 to make. If you're at all interested, totally checkout the Hale Micro UMC32 and build one. IT'S SUPER EASY.
And search Great Tiger on myspace for some music made with the box.
