It's only 2 gigs on Cricket data service a month. But after that they cut your data in half, until the next month. I used to have an Ascend. I never did go over but then again, I never did use internet but on my phone...

@brainlicker1 Nope, I've had to replace it twice. (speaker, and charge port failed) What can they say? Its YOUR phone. There are a few programs on the phone that you can't remove, (uno, bowling) but with the phone rooted their are ways to do it. Who are they to say I can't do that, ya know?

after trying this a billion times and z4root i found gingerbreak.apk which u can download from z4shared.com download the 1.2 version... save it to desktop connect phone put app on the sd card. umount the sd card click on file manger click on gingerbreak download it then make sure usb debugging is checked then go into apps click on gingerbreak click ok then click root it will reboot when completed when it turns back on look in apps if u see superuser it worked. z4root worked on 2.1 huawei not 2.2

I know a fair amount about computers, but I'm retarded when it comes to phones. My Huawei Ascend is rooted. I close out all the applications and kill all the tasks, and my RAM is still shitty. When it's all closed, I get 74MB free of 179.(according to My Android Booster) What else can I do to free up ram other than killing every running process?

The Cricket Zio you referred to doesn't support WiFi Hotspot since Cricket disabled that feature. So you're better off buying the cheaper Ascend since you'll have to use Barnacle anyway. BTW, rooting to superuser only takes a few seconds with current rooting apps.

What if you run out of internal space storage on the phone does the sd card for it let put apps on the phone or do get do up grade on the phone to alow you to get more space to put more apps on.

@suzuba Take out your MicroSD card and then master reset your phone. It will wipe it of your lock pattern and basically everything. Think of it as a fresh new start.

I have metropcs ascend now. I am going to stop metro pcs service. It is really horrible where I am. I never get any reception in my office. Is it possible to still use this phone in wifi at home after I discontinue metropcs service? Is this video what I need? Please help. Thanks.

@Forgott3n36 There are lots of apps that can only be used if your phone is rooted so yea, and if someone messes up their phone, well they didn't follow directions and its their fault. All you do anyways is take it back to cricket and they will replace it free.

so what are the download speeds when your tethered? i see around 250.00kb download then the bottom one says 1.6kbps. so that means like 1mb and 600kbps if im correct?

@AJgamer17 The top is total download, and underneath is kb/s. A 5mb mp3 is about a 2 minute download. It also depends on how many people are using the network. In the latenight early morning hours its seem to almost double its speed.
