Religion is medieval superstition when the laws of the universe and evoulution were not understood in any way. To believe in this nonsense in the 21st century with all the evidence and the FACT of evolution meaning we evolved from the hominid survivors (probably about 1000 homosapiens) who had the ingenuity to overcome the 6 year climatic change after the eruption of Mt Toba 74000 years ago. Probably black too! The truth is much more satisfying and makes me proud.

If you have studied Maslow and his Hierarchy of Needs you know that on the top of that Hierarchy there is the "Self Actualization". This is where spirituality plays a very important role. I've been around atheists and I know for a fact they are not happy people. They are not at all peaceful. I would like to note its impossible to be a christian and to believe in evolution. Evolution requires death as part of the formula and prior to sin there was no death. Thus the bible leaves no room in evolution in genesis 1.

Mostly because those who do the work learn that 'the Big Bang' does not refer to an actual explosion, just an expansion. It might also interest you to know that many of the elements which currently give our lives and world so much funcionality are the direct result of stars cooking them up then exploding.

Let's categorize 'god' by social components: It has: An infinite amount of power, an infinite amount of knowledge, he presides over all the property which he created, and he seemingly has an infinite amount of prestige. @LinkD3 could you point out the verses that indicate evolution? I recently saw a seminar through my church and it was about creationism vs evolution. I learned that over the course of the past 50 years, the more info on evolution that is discovered, the less and less evolution makes sense.

Our small group leader had a friend who is majoring in science and said it goes hand and hand with the Bible and my leader agreed. I asked weeks later and he acted like he didn't believe in evolution. I know the bible says animals were made before humans but I'm confused. I had another leader tell me that if you add up all the dates in the Bible the earth dates back 10 thousand to 12 thousand years. I'm just wondering.

@LinkD3 creation's in the Bible, evolution isn't. That's why many Christians don't believe in it. There are three things: convictions, persuasions, opinion. Convictions are things that determine the basis of a person's Christianity (Jesus is God, infallibility of the Bible, etc). Persuasion can be disagreed (evolution). Opinion is even looser, that's like the type of worship songs a church should play. If evolution was in the Bible, all Christians would believe it, as the Bible is infallible.

In the OT when the evil entiy was a nation or tribe, that meant punishment for the nation. (BTW it is that same today.) Nevertheless, God offers forgiveness (love). And all who respond may experience that - individuals and nations, OT and NT. But rejecting God's forgiveness leaves only just punishment - for nations or individuals.
@campdon When nations are judged - OT or today - innocent individuals suffer. (WWII is an adequate example.) But for individuals, judgment is not ultimately suffering or death here. All die, the good and the evil. There is a judgment that awaits for individuals. That is what we all need to recognize and take to heart. There is a judgment that will be awful.
For nations, judgment happens in this time and place. That's what you see in the OT.
@campdon That's interesting. I've done nothing but benefit from dropping my Catholic belief system. There is beauty in the world without a God, and there is meaning in a life without Heaven or Hell. I don't think it's mere coincidence that the happiest countries in the world are also the least religious; You can live your life on your own terms if you can life unafraid of infinite torture for a finite crime.

I wonder how the "happiest countries" are measured. A google search for happiest countries turned up Nigeria, Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador, Puerto Rico. All of those are pretty religious, it seems tome. Mexico is undergoing a pretty big upswing in religion right now. Forbes's list is different, of course. But that is money not religion.

That is not infinite, though when the consequences of our sin is measured down through time, it is not insignificant. But hell is not merely a punishment; it is the choice people make. If one rejects God, God gives him what he chooses, an eternity apart from God. That means apart from every good, because true good only comes from God.

@tallliza actually, I would guess that the reason people had to kill something when they sinned in the Old Testament, because a death is required in the Old Testament. But Jesus would pay the price for sin forever, so that killing is no longer necessary, because, the price of sin (death) has already been paid by Jesus. Just think about it, all the sacrifices in the Old Testament make a beautiful (in terms of very good, not...like...you know), picture of what would happen to Jesus.

Persuasion, Christians can disagree on them, but they really won't change if a person's a Christian or not. Opinion is even less strict.

I don't belive in a god.. I don't go by any religion.. to be entirely honest I'm not sure why I even watched this video, or made this reply. But one thing is certain, I'm always curious of God, creation. I somewhat grew up with religion though, I went to sunday school when I was young and sat on the horrible uncomfortable seats in church. In the end I am not against an idea of god, what I'm most against is the idea of sin and sinners, sinning. And having ask for forgiveness. I am curious..truly.

Our small group leader had a friend who is majoring in science and said it goes hand and hand with the Bible and my leader agreed. I asked weeks later and he acted like he didn't believe in evolution. I know the bible says animals were made before humans but I'm confused. I had another leader tell me that if you add up all the dates in the Bible the earth dates back 10 thousand to 12 thousand years. I'm just wondering.

@LinkD3 creation's in the Bible, evolution isn't. That's why many Christians don't believe in it. There are three things: convictions, persuasions, opinion. Convictions are things that determine the basis of a person's Christianity (Jesus is God, infallibility of the Bible, etc). Persuasion can be disagreed (evolution). Opinion is even looser, that's like the type of worship songs a church should play. If evolution was in the Bible, all Christians would believe it, as the Bible is infallible.

The old law was replaced by the law of Jesus in the New Testament, which has several stuff from the OT law, but Jesus's death on the cross would be the last blood sacrifice for sin, so there is a new law from Jesus. And you still haven't answered my question. Why do you go to Christian videos and post negative comments? And if I were to say from Proverbs, slap your children (Hold no rod back), you take it to the extreme.

@natbrain Your answer is besides the point. First Jesus himself said.. not one iota of the law will change untill the end of time>. The O.T. is as valid as the N.T. The god of the Old-Testament is the same god as the one from the New-Testament. Why is he lovy-dovy in the N.T. but an angry, jealous, mass-murderer in the O.T.??

@tallliza Your premise is mistaken. God is both loving and just - in the OT as in the NT. God requires life for life.
In the OT when the evil entiy was a nation or tribe, that meant punishment for the nation. (BTW it is that same today.) Nevertheless, God offers forgiveness (love). And all who respond may experience that - individuals and nations, OT and NT. But rejecting God's forgiveness leaves only just punishment - for nations or individuals.

@campdon When nations are judged - OT or today - innocent individuals suffer. (WWII is an adequate example.) But for individuals, judgment is not ultimately suffering or death here. All die, the good and the evil. There is a judgment that awaits for individuals. That is what we all need to recognize and take to heart. There is a judgment that will be awful.
For nations, judgment happens in this time and place. That's what you see in the OT.

@campdon That's interesting. I've done nothing but benefit from dropping my Catholic belief system. There is beauty in the world without a God, and there is meaning in a life without Heaven or Hell. I don't think it's mere coincidence that the happiest countries in the world are also the least religious; You can live your life on your own terms if you can life unafraid of infinite torture for a finite crime.

I wonder how the "happiest countries" are measured. A google search for happiest countries turned up Nigeria, Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador, Puerto Rico. All of those are pretty religious, it seems tome. Mexico is undergoing a pretty big upswing in religion right now. Forbes's list is different, of course. But that is money not religion.

@PhobicOne "infinite torture for a finite crime" There is serious misunderstanding about this. The "torture" or punishment will fit the sins. That is not infinite, though when the consequences of our sin is measured down through time, it is not insignificant. But hell is not merely a punishment; it is the choice people make. If one rejects God, God gives him what he chooses, an eternity apart from God. That means apart from every good, because true good only comes from God.

No, you take things to the extreme, and it's annoying to work with people like that...but I still show love, I do still love you, but it's just annoying...and if I were to say it's not wrong to discipline your child, you'd be like "Oh, so I can break every one of my child's bones? It's discipline!" Does that even sound morally and legally correct? Not really...

@tallliza actually, I would guess that the reason people had to kill something when they sinned in the Old Testament, because a death is required in the Old Testament. But Jesus would pay the price for sin forever, so that killing is no longer necessary, because, the price of sin (death) has already been paid by Jesus. Just think about it, all the sacrifices in the Old Testament make a beautiful (in terms of very good, not...like...you know), picture of what would happen to Jesus.

Persuasion, Christians can disagree on them, but they really won't change if a person's a Christian or not. Opinion is even less strict.

Have you ever seriously read the Bible all the way through front to back for yourself, putting aside personal opinions and just looking at it maturely and objectively?
You might be surprised at what you find in a good way. I would recommend staring at the 4 gospels first.
I also find it a bit hard to believe that the age of the earth and surface level topics are what turns you off from Christianity.
Everyone knows there is a God. period.

Because God can't even be God correctly. He doesn't save us from anything, we save each other. We have the doctors, we heal the wounded, we give the miracles. We bring more life into the world as we ruin it. We're also the ones finding the solutions. God doesn't do anything! we do. We wouldn't have to try to be god if God actually was there, consciously watching us. Because the God you believe in is false. but I will not dismiss the idea of an unconscious God.

I'm saying anything you believe can exist, such as Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. we may know there's no actual being of them but they do exist, in our hearts and minds.
it's the religion what many people follow that I dislike. You're correct I haven't read the Bible, but I've watched a show on how the Bible is bullcrap. And it would take somebody out of reality to believe in it.
I just don't believe that when I say god, it's referring to that book.

If a god so wise and powerful why have he made us so imperfect and full of mistakes? there's much more than the world making itself infact science shows how earth was made. God made this world perfect flawless and beautiful, filled with his glory.
But he also created it so that he could share his Love and Grace. Both of which cannot exist unless there is contrasting force, evil. God did not need to create evil. Evil is what exists in the absence of God.
Just like you cannot have light without there being such a thing as darkness. You cannot shows love without the opposite, evil.

& scripture tells us God is TOTALLY in control. He can end evil (and he will end it) whenever he so pleases. BUT he waits, because he will use all evil that happens in this universe and turn it into something good. His glory and our lasting joy in the end.
we have 2 1/2 pounds of little brain, so that is a hard truth for us to grasp. But it is what this universe points to.

I don't belive in a god.. I don't go by any religion.. to be entirely honest I'm not sure why I even watched this video, or made this reply. But one thing is certain, I'm always curious of God, creation. I somewhat grew up with religion though, I went to sunday school when I was young and sat on the horrible uncomfortable seats in church. In the end I am not against an idea of god, what I'm most against is the idea of sin and sinners, sinning. And having ask for forgiveness. I am curious..truly.

It's that, the idea of a god is ridiculous. People constantly are saying about how science undoes the idea of god And I guess I can see from their point of view. But something makes me want to search deeper into this. Is having a relationship with Jesus, or god, Real? Or is it belief? I have trouble believing in such things. But sometimes when I look at my surroundings, the trees, the sun, the sky, and this Earth we all live on, I feel that perhaps, there's a little bit of god in everything.

I think I may know why you've strangely and randomly felt led to watch this video.
I think its because God loves you. And is calling you to come to him, experience true joy, know absolute truth, and know Christ.
Its not a religion. its the exact opposite, its a relationship not made up in the imagination.
Christ objectively and historically walked on this earth 2000 years ago and PROVED his claims. 500 eye witnesses saw him rise from the dead, and he's coming back to save those who are his own

Why is everything so... wrong. I mean the alternate is, multiverse and universe collisions and 12 dimensions and all sorts of weird stuff to explain our universe' creation along with our creation as a freak accident. It's all very confusing.

You should be curious about God. It's his way of letting you know. You have to have faith. God is showing something in what you do, and go through everyday...
