  • I'm from Cameron & was living there when Rita hit. I have seen alit of general slides with no good pics,,, this is not one of them. Great job & good music with it. My house was gone with no trace, aling with most others. I encourage you to check out fb group & fan page, Hurricane Rita Remembered. We've posted this on both. Again, 2 thumbs up.

  • Lost my house during this storm..and we didnt have a levy that broke this was just flat out wind damage

  • There is no place like Louisiana, when i Die is when i leave!!!

  • @EP1997 That is so rude! Until you have lived it, and gone through it, you have no room to say anything!

  • Y R U people are still living in those fucking boring dangerous zones?!?!

    Go move to Vegas Babyyy!!!!!

    Or L.A ....

  • @EP1997 because thats our home

  • @EP1997 L.A has earthquakes...

  • @EP1997 You can keep L.A. I wouldn't live in that shithole again. The earthquakes are bad and the crime and congestion are even worse.

  • i live in grand lake its above cameron and below lake charles and i cry evertime i wacth this videos

i rememmber my grandfather goin to see if our house was still there

then when i went to see

they was nothin but water up to my waist

and all the houses where underwater it was horribly i never want to go see something like that again

  • I survived both of those motherfuckers :-)

  • COMPARING RITA AND KATRINA:

who do you think will win the battle???

  • Notice though, the folks who lived in Cameron and Calcasieu went right back and rebuilt their homes and put their parishes back in orderafter Rita hit. Shouldnt surprize anyone, they did the same thing when that killer storm Audrey came through. The folks in this part of Louisiana are of a different stock than those in NOLA.

  • Everytime I see something like this it brings tears to my eyes. We have had storms since Rita but with Rita we lost our innocence and the pain and sadness is still obviously there and maybe always will be. My family and I have recovered but I will always remember Rita.

  • how ironic, i live in houston and my grandmothers name is rita, she died in may of 05 and then hurricane rita came in september and broke all of katrinas records. i just wish i was nicer to her b4 she died. this was probably her way of saying to me to respect my elders and my parents

  • She will never be forgotten by my family either. She came upon the coast, crashing through my city of Lake Charles, eating my home away.. Never will Rita be forgotten. Not by me.. Nor my family!

  • Some people in huston and... everywhere think Rita never happened. They also think what happen to Cameron never happened. I'm from Cameron... and to think that people belive what happen to it did not... piss's me off. Man What happen to Lake Charles sucked to! the board walk was runined!... well idk if you know what I mean by the board walk. But yeah :/

  • @LetsPanicy You're absolutely right. What gets me so mad is we constantly hear about Katrina this and Katrina that. I guess there isn't enough welfare trash here in the western part of the state whining and bellyaching to the feds like in Orleans Parish. But they always come here when they want tax money for something though.

  • Thanks for remembering the "forgotten hurricane"

Believe me Texas hasnt forgotten either. She roared directly over my house and destroyed it too. The devastation in both states was horrible. Just didnt get the airtime Katrina did.I have to say I can relate to the people of Mississippi who were ignored in that storms aftermath. Since then we've had Humberto and Ike. Its pretty insane. Thanks again.

  • I stayed in woodville right where the eye passed over

  • nice song i love 30 stm

  • with all this I still wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the UNITED STATES!! Louisiana is the BEST!! great video!!

  • everyone gets fucked up in the path of a hurricane

  • Sad how they say how damaged New Orleans was from Katrina, when in fact it wasn't. It was the levees that broke AFTER the storm. They were spared most of the destruction that big storm had brought. Nobody seems to remember that Gulf Shores had it worse than anybody else. Plus other portions of Mississippi and Alabama.

Rita was a devastation. Cameron Parish WAS hit the worst. It was horrible. I mean Lake Charles was horrible too, but Cameron had NOTHING left.

  • I would have to agree about what jai65 said. I live in Sulphur and I walked the streets in both Lake Charles and Sulphur. And they both don't come in comparison to Cameron. Their was nothing left in Cameron. We just had flooding and downed trees.

  • WOW lccs187 you are stupid...i am from cameron AND i my house was gone!!! lake charles wasnt nearly as bad as cameron...cameron is on the coastline not 30 miles inland

  • all these pictures are mainly from Cameron parish thats not even half of the damage that happened in lake charles it fucced us up

  • i Know i couldn't find enough pics from lake charles. i'm sry.

  • @lccs187 cameron was, and in a way isnt back. gone. along with gilchrist, and crystal beach. i wouldnt call lake charles hit as bad as that. and i was holed up in beaumont. wanna buy a beach cabin? cheap?

  • I'll never forget Katrina or Rita and Rita hit on my birthday while I was in Louisana with my famile she hit on the 23 not the 24

  • It's heartbreaking to see, but thank you for making it. I know I definitely won't ever forget Rita.

  • This video is interesting. I appreciate all the details it shows. It's also shocking because who knew a hurricane could cause so much distruction towards Lake Charles! *Mother nature at its worst*
