I agree that Historians should strive for empathy and objectivity. However, the institutionalized circles of intellectual thought are little more than brainwashing facilities which reward the adaptation of consensus thinking at the behest of social controllers. For the purposes of divining truth, consensus thinking is one step below mental retardation and one step above expert opinion. I'm sure Galileo would agree.
James Buchanan's last State of the Union address, December 3, 1860, showed great empathy for the South. The cause of Southern secession, he argued, was that 25 years of Northern antislavery agitation had made the South insecure. Buchanan observed also that the Philadelphia Convention of 1787 overwhelmingly rejected a motion to give to Congress power to coerce States back into the Union. Buchanan, the man of peace, is always rated among the worst presidents by our non-empathetic historians.
Perfect video, I love hearing about this subject. This was very informative and moving and connects with you on a sub-conscience level. As Shakespeare said "What a piece of work is a man"
VERY GOOD!!!

How empathetic are American historians on the subject of the Late Unpleasantness? Historians, by vocation, should be highly empathetic.
