I honestly dont think the fact that porn has gained a higher audience ironic considering the fact that it doesn't have a compelling story, its expected, primitive needs out strong mental stimulation or artistic pursuits.
damn i never thought of the universe like that before, but, somehow, it makes sense lol. and yeah as an atheist i think about god more than anybody i know also.
(6) the sexual act to the gift of life and doesn’t proceed from genuine affection. This doesn’t mean that homosexuals should be made fun of. The CCC says that homosexuals should be treated with the same respect as anyone else and must be accepted with sensitivity. (CCC: 2358)
Christianity views sex within the context of marriage as noble and honorable. It fosters the self-giving they signify. There is NOTHING wrong with spouses engaging in such an act.Sorry this is so long but it's important
(5) married they say. Not with another like you, they say.”
Sex before marriage is immoral because it shows that the lust for each other is stronger than the love and level of commitment you have for each other.
Marriage is a sacred oath a vow before God and man that you will love, respect, honor, and cherish your spouse until death do you part. Having an affair during marriage is an obvious breach of such an oath.
Homosexuality is contrary to natural law. It closes (6)
(4)honestly believe there is nothing more to a person then their body? Nothing more to who they are? No. Pornography is wrong not because it has to do with sex which is supposedly immoral, it is wrong because it trains the mind to view only the body when they see another human being. The objectifying of men and women as tools or toys for sex is the real immorality the other acts are the result.
Let’s look at your comment, “Not before you're married they say. Not with another after you're (5)
(3) the end result. If it was, then there was no love in the relationship, only lust. The couple would eventually break up. Such a path leads to broken hearts and broken marriages. In an earlier video (Independence Day) Harrison (I think that’s your name :) ) mentioned that sexisim still exists in America today. This is a blatant example. The widespread belief that we are nothing more than animals led by our based instincts to mate with anyone and everyone we want is wrong.
(2)items like birth control is immoral because it takes away the procreative properties of such an act leaving only the unitive aspects. In the same way becoming pregnant artificially is immoral because it takes away the unitive aspects of such an act and only focuses on the reproductive qualities.
Likewise, one should not become involved in such an act for the wrong reasons. Lust should not be confused with Love.
Irony is only in perspective is it not? What is ironic to one person is not necessarily ironic to another. I'm not sure how a person's (humorous?) interpretation of an observation can be a driving force in the universe. All irony shows is that humans continue to fail to predict outcomes. I know how you feel about being an atheist and thinking about God more than your friends though.
But, sometimes, things happen in a way that would cause us to identify them as ironic. These things happen frequently. Therefore, I consider irony, in itself, a force.
@RipleyisBA So after much thought, debate and discussion with my family, I've found a better force and perhaps a purpose for existance. While irony is surely a force to be reckoned with, it is hardly a purpose for life. (I could be wrong and that would be terribly ironic). Consider entropy. Perhaps the purpose of life is to increase entropy and nothing more. Hidden morality in almost every living thing is to populate and not kill. More living things=more entropy. Disagree? Think on it.
@fizzingwhizbeee It's moral to populate? I don't believe so. It's something we all desire to do, instinctively, but populating isn't generally considered a moral obligation, unless you subscribe to a faith that simply wants more followers out there.
Not killing, sure, but I think of morality as more of intellectualized standards born out of self-preservation.
Irony isn't a purpose for existence.
It's a concept, and it's the topic of this video, which was made for the purpose of entertainment.
@RipleyisBA Well your video surely served its purpose. I am thoroughly entertained even after the second time. I do wonder if instinct need be so far away from morality. Morality is supposed to be that standard of conduct similar in all cultures, the things all humans share and understand to be good, no? As for the conspiracy of religion attempting to grow by shoving the idea of bearing children into the thoughts of believers, I have to entirely disagree. On more than one occasion have (2)
@RipleyisBA (2) religions attempted to make people think that the most obviously necessary act is immoral. Not before you're married they say. Not with another after you're married they say. Not with another like you, they say. Part of the reason I lost faith was because of all the religious intolerance to the second most obvious "moral" thing one can do. Stay alive. Reproduce.Find me a species or culture that doesn't embrace these and I will congratulate you. But it all comes back to entropy...
@fizzingwhizbeee I am not up to date on other religion's views on that subject, but Christianity does not say that intercourse is immoral at all! It is not the act of intercourse that is immoral, but the circumstance surrounding it can make it so. The most fundamental purpose of intercourse is to unify the couple and reproduce and that is perfectly fine and good. It is the circumstances around it that change it and take it out of its correct context. For example, Christianity says that using (2)
@JaneEyre29 careful with who you're talking to. His name may be Harrison but mine certainly isn't. And I'm not sexist, I'm a woman. I was proposing that reproduction in general was moral because it increases entropy, his comeback was somethin like "only if the religion wants more followers". I believe if that were true, religion would not require so many moral conditions on reproduction. And enough about commitment and love before lust. Marriage is for the parents, not the couple. (2)
@JaneEyre29 (2) If it weren't I'd probably be married. A committed couple doesn't need vows or rings or a certificate to show committment. In a day of divorce even that doesn't mean anything. Sex used to be the commitment. Sex existed before paper and rings. But this is all irrelevant, which situations increase entropy? And which acts are ironic? The ironic are likely to happen, and the entropic are likely to be productive.
Man, i just want to know the truth.... maybe we will...... some higher power ??? mmm... who is it !!!! or, some crazy force of big bang that popped out of no where due to quantum fluctuations ? :O mmm.. I like thinking about these things, I always talk to my friends about it, and I sometimes challenge questions for religious people about their "heavens" and stuff, and they sometimes cant answer it, and i piss them off :P haha
@kennyjuggling Spirituality is cool. I dig pontificating. Dunno 'bout the truth. Don't think we're meant to know what it is. Maybe that's what part of life is. The struggle against the incalculable quantity of uncertainty around us..
Another question, evolution, do you believe in that ? I think that its possible, but it's so unlikely because the chance of it, is sooooooooooooooooo flukeish !!! :P
@kennyjuggling I do believe in evolution. Evolution makes sense. Evolution has a lot of data going for it. Evolution seems a lot more likely than the arbitrary deities religions prop up.
Awesome talk :) I agree with some of the stuff you're talking about, and also, my favourite type of music is dubstep :P haha, sry to annoy you about that! Anyway, I'm an agnostic, and I reckon that human will never know wat higher power created us, I think that the higher powers we know of as today are surreal. I only beleive in 2 things that are possible for the creation of the universe. One is a higher power that we would never counteract with, or something like the big bang. wat do u think ?
@kennyjuggling Thanks! I don't believe in a God, but I do have notions pertaining to a higher realm of existence. However, I think that it would be totally inconceivable, as it would exist in a state transcendent of the boundaries of our universe (things like time, space, Newtonian physical laws, etc.).
I think that our universe started with a rapid expansion, and has continued to do just that. Beyond that, I have no clue.
