Thomas Gibson did an amazing job in this episode!! Hotch is my favorite and I felt so bad for him! All I wanted to do was just give him a hug. This, as sad as it was, is one of my favorite episodes!
What I want to know is why are you people arguing over this? Sure this might be only a tv show but when it comes down to it, it's fucking sad =/ Shit like this happens in real life you know? People watch their love ones die, or over hear them. Even though the show is real, the situations people have to face are real.
0:30 yeah, Sam told her all about him . . . except what he looked like and how his voice sounded. Those things might have helped. It also would have helped if there were more than one person guarding her. Also if they had had a code word or something like that, that another FBI officer other than Sam was supposed use when communicating with her, to prevent someone from fooling her into thinking they worked for the FBI. These things might have helped.
i felt soooo bad for Hotch in this episode..he tried so hard to save her..im so very glad that he beat Foyet to death cause thats exactly what he deserved...i LOVE Criminal Minds

It reminds me of the Dark Knight at the end with Harvey holding Gordon's son hostage and Gordon begging for his son's life, you know it's a good movie or show when at a emotional part you are choked up or about to cry
Including when Jack says 'mom you hug me too tight'; watching the teams' reaction to Hailey getting shot makes me cry like a baby. On a side note, this was one of the best episodes for criminal minds.
when the reaper puts the gun next to haley's head, its almost like its me. i can feel the gun on my face and i get this feeling every time i watch this episode.

What really broke me through this whole episode was when Hotch was crying on the phone, then I broke down and cried through the rest of the episode....I don't think I can handle watching that ep. again. This was so beautiful... So awful, and yet so beautiful at the same time. ..done with such sensitivity, such real, palpable human emotions...it really made you think, and feel every person's angle, rather than just react to the horror of the madman's crime. Amazing!

I love this show because it's so real! It holds no punches and isn't afraid to let us see how things really are. Some shows will keep people like Haley alive just because she's pretty to look at or because she's a main character's wife but Criminal Minds shows us that to a psychopath, it doesn't matter who you are. Anyone can get it in their eyes.

The first time i saw this was on ion television, because i started watching and keeping up with the show after this episode had aired, when i heard the gun shot tears sprang out of my eyes. When I saw this I started crying when Aaron started to cry after Haley was killed by George. But at the end Aaron killed George and now Aaron have to take care of his son Jack all by himself. I feel sad that Jack doesn't got a mother anymore but he still got his father to take care of him.

Oh, now I'm crying. This is the saddest episode. I honestly didn't think Haley was going to die when I first watched it with my roommate. I had been reaching for something and froze as soon as I heard the gunshots.
God, this entire scene breaks my heart, the way Haley hugs her son, the way Hotchner tells his wife that she is strong, the gunshots, and the last part. Poor Hothner, he was devastated.

It's sad knowing that he'll blame himself because we all know that it was the job that found a psychopath like "the reaper" but I guess it's probably one of the reasons he stayed to find those types of monsters to save other lives to fill in one of the lives he was responsible for

I love this show because it's so real! It holds no punches and isn't afraid to let us see how things really are. Some shows will keep people like Haley alive just because she's pretty to look at or because she's a main character's wife but Criminal Minds shows us that to a psychopath, it doesn't matter who you are. Anyone can get it in their eyes.

@powermatt101 I actually just finished watching that episode, and you're right. It definitely was sadder than this episode. But I have to say it was an awesome way to end Prentiss' character. Definitely up there with my favorite episodes. Also, I loved having JJ back.

The first time i saw this was on ion television, because i started watching and keeping up with the show after this episode had aired, when i heard the gun shot tears sprang out of my eyes. This is probably the saddest thing i've ever seen on a television series. Thomas deserves an grammy for this. AMAZING acting.

I don't no what I would do if something like this happened to him.. Criminals like the character The Reaper are the reasons why I want to be a forensic psychologist.. to put them away so they can't break families up like this...

I just ended watching this episode and I started crying since Aaron started crying I saw it coming by the pause in them right after he promised her I have been wanting to watch this episode since I saw the one were Aaron gets stabbed by foyett!!! When I saw this I started crying when Aaron started to cry after Haley was killed by George. But at the end Aaron killed George and now Aaron have to take care of his son Jack all by himself. I feel sad that Jack doesn't got a mother anymore but he still got his father to take care of him.

God, this entire scene breaks my heart, the way Haley hugs her son, the way Hotchner tells his wife that she is strong, the gunshots, and the last part. Poor Hothner, he was devastated.
