Orca are social and live family units in the wild, and thrive on learning how to kill their prey effectively, or how to kill new prey.

I'm kind of wondering if the trainers got what they deserved. We have no idea if these animals are abused, or constantly being teased, until frustration took over. If you swim with a large fish, you're taking a huge risk. That's their domain, humans stand no chance in the waters with any massive fish. The poor creatures are swimming in circles. people watching the show thinking oh they do no harm at all to the whales but what LIES. It is very tragic but you have to remember its wild and it will always be. If you put it back in the ocean now it won't know how to take care of itself and sadly die because its so used to being fed by hand. STOP THIS SEAWORLD NONSENSE TODAY!

I'm kind of wondering if the trainers got what they deserved. We have no idea if these animals are abused, or constantly being teased, until frustration took over. If you swim with a large fish, you're taking a huge risk. That's their domain, humans stand no chance in the waters with any massive fish. We are animals, but we can't just assume we know how other animals think, or how they are going to behave, even if they're being manipulated.

You can't take every single tragedy that happen to raise your personal views about animal captivity. Along the disadvantages of the captivity, there are many advantages.
Why all the environmentalists so sure that they know what is best for the animals? They sound like some religious assholes, that think that they are smarter than everybody else.

No disrespect to Ms Dawn Brancheau, RIP. But, from Tilikum's point of view, he did not apply to SeaWorld for a job where he can only eat if he performs tricks to amuse humans. I'm pretty sure he can make a better living free in the ocean. I actually applied for my job and sometimes I want to thrash my boss around for his stupid commands, but I willingly applied there so I behave myself. Tilikum didn't apply for this, so just imagine how he feels.

Hundreds of thousands of interactions since? Meaning like 300,000? So in ten years the whale would have to do 822 performances a day every day for ten years. So if the park was open 12 hours from 0900 - 2100 it would have to do 68.5 shows an hour. I hate when people drastically exaggerate things like this. GABAGE

It's sad that the trainer died, but being one of Tilli's trainers at Sea World, she must have known that it was very likely that one day it could happen, since he had killed 2 people before in 20 years... , she could have said she didn't want to work with Tilli, but she kept doing her job because she loved it... It is not the whale's fault, it is something that even a whale who has never killed anybody could do... that's their instincts...

My sister went to Seaworld a couple days ago, they don't even swim with them anymore, they stand on the side and wave their arms and shoot water guns to show where they need to go. They should just drop the whole Shamu show if you're just going to watch them swim in their tank...

@SeymourButtz99 these creatures are not toys and they had no choice in this job. You can't just put them down for that, humans put a lot of pressure on them and it snapped, maybe it didnt even snap. The whale might not of known it was going to drown the trainer seeing as it could breathe underwater itself! and i don't agree with any animals being killed for killing humans because it's our fault for "taming" them and keeping them stuck in a house/building instead of them being in the wild.
