  • he needs to move his head okami did'nt move his head when facing anderson he was doing only rights but anderson will never fall for the same move . okami should of had a gameplan here but mostly lost this one he always needs to move his head he could've been ko'd in first or 2nd when he was striking with silva okami please move the head if you're going to strike with someone that knows striking like anderson

  • i believe online learning is great for people unable to get to a school also u can always rewind and review over and over until u master the technique. also if u pay for the university online u can have a partner for free to work with u its not hard these days to find a friend who is interested in mma/bjj espicially because typically my generation only knew of tkd or boxing growing up as the only forms of martial arts or that was all that was available to us. thnx again

  • u guys are awsome i love jui jitsu getting ready to go back to gracie/barra slidell when i get my money right i want my blue belt so bad

  • my passion GJJ

  • a good place to learn GJJ.

  • The only thing i think could present a problem with online learning would be if you have any specific questions about detail, but coming from guys of your level i would imagine you include every detail necessary to perfect the techniques. You can go at your own pace, no pressure from other students, and you can learn whenever you want to!

  • you are cutting each other off, you should take turns leading the breakdown instead of just talking over each other.

also, slow down, I cannot think as fast as you speak.

  • @ImSoOffended Why not just watch it a few times if you can't grasp it? They're providing this stuff for free and its great -.-

Also, I think they're perfectly understandable and the accent is minuscule compared to some.

  • Learning online works because you can go at the pace you can learn. You have to be focused to learn, and we all learn at different speeds, so learning online means not having to wait for others to catch up, if you would be at the front of the class.

It also means flexibility, being able to learn anywhere there is an internet connection, which is a bonus to people who are nomadic or move alot. You don't have to worry about wether the guy in the new gym teaching the technique knows how to teach.

  • Are these Ricksons boys?

  • $500 UFC Store Gift Card at votinghill(dot)com

  • of course, when a japanese loses to a brazilian.... even when there is no jujitsu involved, the gracies are the first to throw a party. How about uploading Ryo Chonan vs Anderson Silva? Or Yoshida vs Royce?

  • The lesson of beating Anderson Silva is giving Anderson Silva tougher opponents. Thales Lietes, Patrick Cote, Lee Murray, Jeremy Horn, Travis Lutter, n James Irvin are not really big name fighters to brag about especially now. Maia got a title shot for winning just 1 fight after getting KO'd by Marquardt in the 1st. Even Silva got a title shot after his debut win. The MW division is a fkn JOKE!

  • according to Chael Sonnen the MW division is the most dangerous, what are you talking about!

  • @andresitin72 Chael was Silva's toughest challenge yet n he had a UFC record of 4 n 4 n got submitted 7 times before he even fought Silva LOL. Rich Franklin a former MW champ who was always in title contention as a MW CAN'T even rank top 10 as a LHW. Brian Stann is 1 of the top guys in the MW division but when he fought in the LHW division he got smashed in the 1st round by fkn Krzysztof Soszynski! LOL. Mark Munoz has won 6 of his last 7 fights as a MW but as a LHW he couldn't even win ONE! LOL

  • @Bones87ish you think its a joke, would u have a chance against demien or even an amateur fighter

  • @lugtavisi In the sense that you're the p4p king by beating that level of competition then yes it is a joke! Anderson Silva's toughest fight was with a guy that had a UFC record of 4 n 4 plus he got submitted 7 times b4 he even fought Silva so in reality submitting a guy that's already been submitted 7 times ain't really all that impressive. Jon Jones in just 3 n a half yrs of training mma has already fought way tougher fighters than Silva has in his whole career.

  • @Bones87ish allright mr ariel helwani, youre right none off his opponents could fight. maybe u should become matchmaker for the ufc?

  • These guys are hilarious. lol. They know exactly what they're talking about.

  • can u guys do Dominick cruz and pat berry?

  • I liked the phone interruption. That was cool.

  • @spurwinggoose cool?what is wrong with u

  • I believe online learning works well because the student can go over the material at their own speed and can review multiple times to allow for maximum retention of details. People learn differently and allowing people the ability to control the lesson so they can take it when they are ready to learn, at their own speed, and allow for review is huge. Love the training guys, keep it real!

  • @vectors2final online learning works, however, you need someone to correct you as you go if your learning bjj, videos dont correct mistakes.Ive seen some useless vids of the combatatives online by university students purely because they were not aware of their mistakes.I can learn bjj online because I already have the fundamentals from a real school, everything else makes sense once you have those,I undersatnd the common principles that make stuff work, beginners wont.

  • the lesson is do not fight Anderson Silva

  • @Ariel1Dominguez unless you are chael sonnen.

  • @ihatebobsaget1989 unless you are chael sonnen and you want to fall into a triangle choke.

  • Cause i can learn on my own time.

  • Comment removed

  • Always Great, Always cristal clear, a pleasure to have you guys explaning every technique in the main events. Regards from an Argentinian living in Madrid, and training bjj since very little with Rafael Ribeiro.-

  • I have been a student at your university for just over a month and I am hooked. Based in a rural area of the UK, this means me and my training partner get 1 to 1 (or 2 to 2!) based training with the best...say no more!

  • online learning is great because i can just stay at home and learn gracie jiu-jitsu

  • "yehahaha, no dont do that"

  • Learning online can be good for some because of the privacy of training at home with family and friends. It works for me because there is no Gracie Academy or Gracie Garage in my area...

  • Online learning is good because you can train privately and focus on details in moves. It's also easily accessible and you don't have to be close to a GJJ gym to learn it. It expands the market that GJJ could reach. However, there are downsides as well. Practice always makes perfect and if you're not constantly practicing moves, I doubt you'll be able to learn fast.

  • I would say it is a combination between the both styles. Online learning is good because one can really focus on the technique and details of the video. However, on the gym one can have contact with other individuals and put into practice the online lessons.

  • I enjoyed your breakdown of the UFC. Your online tutorials are very educational and I have learned a lot. Keep up the good work.

  • i'd say online learning works out well for me because I can learn whenever and wherever i am.... That's the greatest advantage of online learning. Hell, it can be 2 in the morning and i can just get online and train with my brother if we want to. Of course it has to be GIVEN that ryron and rener are my online teachers. lol

  • You guys should do Matt Hughes vs Ricardo Almeida breakdown. That choke looked like a modified anaconda. My friends and I have never seen anything like it before. If you can that would be awesome !

  • Online classes are so valuable because you can learn at your own pace. You can stop the video and practice, see it again and practice again. It’s very simple. This together with proper physical classes can make you a better fighter.

  • in the video, 11:25, Ryron said the "value of online learning"

when you understand you appreciate, when you appreciate you value gjj via online learning and the Gracia academy

these videos help you understand the moves faster

  • Ive been able to train at both an academy and online at gracieuniversity. Def the amount of detail, organization, and the RENERGY kept it real for me. Also if you at an academy, the instructor might not be as organized and also might leave details out, either by accident or by just not getting to you in class because of the amount of ppl.

  • The are a ton of pros to online training. The biggest one is pacing. Everyone picks up different aspects of jiu Jitsu at a different rate. In group classes you can spend a lot of timing relearning something that is already one of your strengths. Online learning helps you maximize your time spent training because of the ability to stop and start lessons, review the ones you haven't yet committed to memory and by progressing through classes as fast or slow as is relevant to your learning style.

  • you should make breakdowns of Strikeforce events too, i would be interested to see your analysis of Barnett last two fights.

  • It makes learning less stressful, you can get pretty stressed, worrying if they're going to be asked a question, or why they're not getting it, or because other students are distracting them.

  • I have already purchased the White to Blue lessons but would love to add the master cycle and women empowered for female friends and family I care for dearly.

  • I found Gracieuniversity and kept it real in my own home with friends.

  • finding out about the effectiveness of it from the youtube videos of Royce, Royler, and Rickson to name a a few.

  • Online learning was great for me when I didn't have the availability of a ride to a jiu jitsu academy near my home, or the money to pay month to month. I had a burning desire to learn Gracie jiu jitsu ever since.

  • 6:08 hahahaha Faca na caveira rapaz!!!! " fuck the Iphone" lol

  • Online learning allows you the replay value that is not possible in the academy. This allows learning at one's pace and can provide new observations on repeated viewing. It also offers a method for archiving that is difficult to capture with written notes.

  • Excellent breakdown. Keep it up!

The online teaching works particularly for the GJJ because the emphasis on details of the techniques that it is based on. Those details need to be clarified if there are questions. Answering those questions by the teachers and sharing the answers with the rest of the students is only possible online.

  • dang

  • brakdown josh barnett vs karitonov

  • do not underestimate online learning people. after taking a whole school year of break from jiujitsu, i kept myself busy by watching techniques and strategies online. it works. once i came back to jiujitsu my skills not only didnt deteriorate, it increased and made me more versatile because i had a plethora of moves that people didnt learn in the mat.

  • @ksungjin10 I got to agree on that I've been learning alot from watching online

  • Online learning is imperative in this day and age for many reasons. I own the Gracie Combatives and I love how everything is broken up step-by-step! Not only is the GU online instruction meticulous but it allows the person to go at their own pace. Many people have crazy schedules and might not have time or money to join a gym but are interested in learning jiu jitsu. Online learning also allows students to pay attention to the details or variances that one might encounter in a fight or tourney

  • The advantages of online learning is the fact that 1. you can work at your own pace with the ability to rewind or fast forward 2. have access anytime during the day 3. can be performed from the comforts of your own home or office 4. some people learn through different methods one being simple observation as opposed to physical participation.

  • Dude, online learning is extemely effective. I have been taking online classes for college for a couple of years now. I got a B+ and a B for classes that I failed when I took them in the traditional way. I think what makes it so effective is that you can do it on your own time. I'm not saying that it totally beats out a live class. But if you don't have the time to do a live class, it gives you a better option than doing nothing.

  • I was never much of a believer in online learning until I found Gracie University. The lessons are broke down well and very detailed, offer several variations and possible problems you may encounter, how to overcome those problems, and it's in a format that anyone could learn from no matter their level. I knew nothing about Jiu Jitsu and after studying your free lessons I was able to SAFELY tap my big brother out with an Americana after letting him start in the mount position.

  • @mrhayes06 Of course I showed him how to do it afterward using your website, now I need some more lessons so I can still get the best of him.

  • Gracie University provides a unique learning experience which enables you to develop and challenge yourself anytime and anywhere, as long as you have the dedication and passion for GJJ.

  • I find it amazing that people who have never viewed the lessons automatically condemn them. Online learning is great for those of us with families and jobs. I could never pay for classes for me and my two kids. Thanks Gracies!

  • Online information woks- before the internet people learned through word of mouth, books and person to person training, now online training has been added to the way people can learn it provides another opportunity to grow as a person. good information is good information regardless of the way you discover it. the added necessity with jiu jitsu is that you must always perform the practical study(rolling/drilling) with the theoretical studies but this is true of over studies ie music or language.

  • Dang

  • As everyone else has said, you can learn at your own pace, rewind, and rewatch, but i feel the real benefit lies in the videos themselves. The presenters understand that their audience will not receive the hands on training some other might, so they break it down as much as possible to make it even easier on the student and that ties back into the idea that you can rewind because with the extremely well broken down lesson and the ability to rewind, it's a great combo. Keep it real, GJJ for life.

  • Online learning is probably one of the best ways to educate yourself, expecially with GJJ. GU breaks every.single.step. down to its essentials and explains its intricacies in a way that's simple to understand--you can rewind and go over lessons repeatedly to ensure that you're absorbing as much of the content, finesse, and beauty of the art. Online learning also opens the door to the Gracie community of studenst and teachers and support; it's flexible schedule-wise. In a word? AWESOME :D

  • Online learning has some great benefits. If the material is presented well, you can study the info wherever there is internet access, you can review as many times as you want, and it may be cheaper then attending an academy. Look at all the things you can learn through youtube or just googling your question.

  • Online learning is great for me because it allows me to do my learning on my schedule and I can review things over and over again. If I can't remember something, I can always go back an review it again. For instance, its 10pm on a Saturday night and I have free time to learn something and here I am watching your breakdown. Thanks for the great videos (I just started training a few months ago locally) and keep up the good work!

  • Online learning works amazingly for a couple of different reasons. Number one it allows people to learn at their own pace instead of being constricted to a schedule. Finding a gym to fit in with a difficult schedule is a bit of a pain. Number two (and this is from my personal experience) is that watching a technique by yourself makes you pay attention to the details, especially if you feel intimidated by a bjj class.

  • Keep making these. It's really helpful to hear your commentary.

  • With the busy schedules that many people carry today (i.e. jobs, fitness, children, etc.) online learning allows us to work around these daily activities. Online learning has no timetables (mostly) that conflict with your regular everyday schedules that can change quite frequently. Online learning allows for you to set your own comfort levels in your learning space unlike in a classroom setting. Also if you think you may have missed something important in your lesson, you can always go back.

  • Online learning gives people the chance to learn at their own pace which they feel comfortable at. Moreover you can access it anywhere in the world and at any time!!

  • Always nice to learn things ! Cheers mates :)

  • To superezekial19 did I not mention I watch a video and practice it with someone ... What's the difference of doing that from watching an instructor live and practicing on someone ... Only difference I can think of is having the instructor be there to demonstrate it for you however there's 40 other guys in the room wanting his one on one instruction too ... It's better for me personally cause I dont have to drive far away and pay a steep price for Gracie instructions

  • hey ive remembered the counter to the triangle, only time hes submitted me in 3 years, u just have to put the learning in practise, simples.

  • I think online learning is better because it's definitely more affordable, more convenient, and you can learn on your own time not on a pre set schedule at school

  • Quality UFC breakdown.

  • So I just watch a video and practice on friends that have time and endurance to do so since Gracie places are far away and expensive I'll just keep watching and practicing on my own call me the youtube / Internet fight team lol

  • Online training is great especially in my case I'd watch YouTube videos or ufc DVD's and practice on my ranger buddies while I was in the army which is why I'm currently 4-0 with only 16 weeks worth of training since I work and go to school which makes watching it better than nothing at all ... Plus I can't afford Gracie places and they're always packed and not enough time on mat

  • Online training is great in so many ways. Being able to learn at ones own pace is great. Also being able to learn more specialized things in a location where one would otherwise not. Having that instruction being world class level is an even bigger bonus.

  • Online training is fucking terrible you idiot, to learn you need to be there in the flesh with training partners who can physically push you, stick to your online "training" and get nowhere in life, I bet you morons get graded online aswell, hahaha losers.

  • I believe online training works because Im proof it does! I actually used the techniques I learned at GU in an actual self-defense situation. All I had learned at that point were the first 5 lessons and it still worked! Going to a bjj class is good, but there's nothing like having world-class instruction with u at all times!

  • Online learning provides a student the ability to learn at a pace they can control. Also,it provides an opportunity for those who are ambivalent or perhaps wary of engaging in something new to receive an introduction(if not more) in a non intrusive manner. For the advanced, online learning is a way to correct mistakes, learn new strategies, and break down series of movements. You can't pause or rewind a sparring session to get the fine points of a triangle choke as you can with online instruction.

  • I like the detail of the online learning. I can re-watch a section if I missed something and don't have to interrupt the class and detract from others' process.

  • First time i seen these guys I have known that they are on a different level and always keep it real.

  • Online learning has the particular benefit of allowing you to learn at your own pace and in your own time. Compared to going to an actual academy where you have to adjust to schedules and to the people around you who may have a different learning curve, online learning is more convenient and can be more thorough. Keep it real GJJ!

  • Online learning will work for a motivated and self directed learner because they will be able to take ownership of their own learning, learn at their own pace and identify their own learning needs.

  • Online working is valuable to me because it lets the student learn on their own schedule, many people work during the day and cannot attend standard martial arts learning facility. It also allows the student to have a record of everything the teacher says, like video notes of the small nuances that make the martial art effective whereas if the student learned traditionally and in person they may not remember those details.

  • Online learning is great because I can't come to you - this way you can come to me.

  • Online learning is great because I can work at my own pace and really have to focus on the details to learn the techniques.

  • online training = lots of rug burn and broken furniture, but quite essential in becoming a submission beast nowadays

  • Works... Because the message is direct from the experts... Reaches more audience... Good, because we could learn at home w/ close friends... and ofcource it GJJ!

  • Online is great because it fits to you. Its also great because you dont feel rushed and you know whats coming up, so you get excited about watching the next ones. Also the pause, rewind, and slow-mo clips are a huge help.

  • Not only does online training give you the ability to learn at your own pace, but also you have to note that online lessons are designed specifically with the knowledge that the student needs to receive as much if not more detail about the lesson at hand.

  • I like the online learning because I can pause it, rewind, and watch tiny bits in detail. It's great stuff!

  • Keep it for real!

  • Bottom line is, it works because it's Rener and Ryron are heading the movement.

  • No question in my mind that any serious student has to supplement their mat training with online content. With the advent of mobile devices with large bandwidth I can take my training with me on my phone, and tablet device. I can't tell you how many times I had a "lightbulb moment" on the mat, ran to my phone, and viewed a vid of a technique I just thought of. Having access rich media (vids) and the gracie fam gives me a serious edge. I love to cap of a day of training by reviewing online.

  • Online learning can be effective if it is methodical, concise, and organized to build upon itself. Gracie University seems like it'd be much better than just watching and trying youtube videos you can find online. Great job guys.

  • great video guys, this is the thing i always look forward to after each ufc event :)

  • Anytime access makes online learning very beneficial. Also the ability to continually rewatch the videos allows you to absorb the details. A great supplement to live training!

  • online ftw because I don't have a bjj club in my neighberhood

  • If you dont live in TX, fly there... cant be said without true passion

  • Online learning is good because you can always go back to learn the same move. You can access internet almost everywhere and you can watch it on the computer.

  • Online shows many angles that you cannot get from books. Plus the ability to pause and master the technique along with view it multiple times in order to master is an amazing benefit.

  • Online Learning Exercises the mind when you may not be able to get to the gym and mats. It is stored in your memory and may hit you when it counts such as a sticky situation rolling in class or in competition!. You may not have learned an escape or submission and find yourself in that situation and quickly think and react "hey I know what to do" BOOM and the difference is evident! Keep the Videos comin guys! Thanks!

  • Online/ video learning works pretty good due to the fact if you have a question there is the forum. also you can rewind, puase, and rewatch the lessons over and over, even with little practice the idea of the lesson can stick. some times in a class environment you can feel embarrased to ask for extra teachings. the internet/ video dont judge.

  • a awesome experience. "Brad you are getting so much better have you been working on your grappling/Jiu Jitsu/ etc" I just smile and say yes. Constant improvement as a martial artist and I am proof that online learning or distance can work as long as you try and apply the techniques and have the motivation to practice to truly test yourself. Thanks for everything guys

  • and have incorporated it and used it. Watching the dvds or online you can watch them over and over to get every technical part of it down and then modify it once you understand the mechanics of the move to make it work for you. I am also a believer in theory and application and just watching the dvds (since I watch them by myself) won't help me unless I attempt to apply them. Well let me say that when I grapple or roll with other students who have not watched the combatives with me it has been

  • Online learning does work. I was skeptical at first but boy was I wrong. Though the martial arts school is not affiliated with GJJ or BJJ we have always had grappling incorporated in our system that we didn't learn until we ranked up. Well Royce changed that with UFC 1 :). To make a long story short some of the material on the combatives course I already knew however you guys broke it down in a different way so I understood it better. Some of the material I did not know and learned from the DVD

  • I wish I could make the Expo, but an enrollment into the University would be the next best thing!

  • I think the best is to combine online Learning with Practice in a gym, you can learn details in online learning (watching it lots if times) and then used them in a sparring or street fighting simulation

  • Online learning can be highly effective if done correctly, both on the parts of the student and teacher. The student must be capable of following the instruction and putting forth the proper effort. The teacher must be capable of giving clear instruction and, as you seem to have done, anticipate the problems the student may have while studying each lesson.

  • Online learning is a great tool to have in your arsenal, allowing you to not only learn at your own pace but revisit and brush up on techniques you may need to relearn, or want to look at again to pick up those details you might not have seen at first or may not even pick up with live training. To truly unlock your potential I think online learning combined with live training will increase skills and knowledge exponentially.

  • guys, you have the advantage again, people may learn stuff if they are motivated to do so and apparently many people is getting ready for a fight.

online learning? yeah baby, lets get it on i will give it a chance!!! woooo hooooo

  • DOG I WANT THEM DVDS!

  • if my post wins this I'm buying my friend the course as well he's 17 and very interested in your system ;)

  • Online learning works! I recently traveled down to San Diego, CA from my hometown of Las Vegas, NV. I visited a Gracie Garage and had some of the best training that I ever experienced. The two guys I trained with were Gracie University Students and all of the small details that we went over helped me out so much. I practice at a BJJ school also, but the details from Gracie University have helped me out so much. I am a witness to the power of online training through Gracie University!

  • Way to Keep it Real! Thanks again for another Great Breakdown!!

  • Online learning is beneficial because of the FLEXIBILITY of it; it allows you to go at your own pace, to see different peoples' approach to the same moves, to search for any aspect of the sport at the click of a button and to do so on your own schedule.

  • Thanks for the breakdown Guys!

With online learning i can learn any move at anytime at any place. I can move at my own pace with my training and learn from the best in the world (AKA Ryron and Rener). It allows anybody in the world to learn jiu jitsu!!!!

  • Great vid

  • Being able to learn at your own time and re-watch lessons and train on your own scheduale. Also, if you forget how to do a move you can always go back and check rather than asking an instructer.

  • Dang, you guys break things down the normal fan doesn't tend to see and explain it so simple we can understand. Thanks guys.

  • It's just great to have the Gracie brothers personally teach you one of the best ways to defend yourself in the streets, specially 'couse you don't even have to move away from home! Greetings from Chile!

  • Guys, this is the best way to learn because it's easy to combine with your own agenda and you are able to invest the time needed to reach perfection.

  • Sup guys. Greetings from Norway.

  • I can review my lessons anywhere. I can review the the lessons practice the techniques and then review the lessons for full understanding. That is the reason that I enjoy online learning.

  • The value of learning online is easy to see when you are involved with it. Being able to go at your own pace and rewind and re-watch lessons is very beneficial. Also being able to train on your schedule is a big advantage.

  • Online learning has benefits that the academy doesn't offer. I can watch the video as many times as needed to pick up all the minor details. Rener/Ryron are only going to show it so many times. Also, after you practice the techniques live you can ask questions online. I have integrated online learning with academy training and have had good success. Thanks

  • I like online learning because you can take your lessons with you anywhere and review them. I've learned entirely how to sew from online learning! Classrooms are great for learning but a lot of it I feel requires additional book reading... and for practical hands-on skills, reading isn't as good as DOING and WATCHING! My learning style is primarily kinesthetic and visual -- if I'm not seeing it and doing it, I'm not learning to my full potential!

  • I have done a lot of online learning, guitar, language and jiu-jitsu. Online learning is awesome because it gives you a chance to really digest what is being taught. You can play, replay and consider the information in ways that are impossible though other mediums.

However, you need to supplement your online learning by seeking out training partners and teachers to practice and perfect what you've have learnt in order to get the full potential out of any skill that you are tying to master.

  • Probably the best thing about online learning is that you can go through the lessons over and over again anytime you would want to do. also no one at home can intimidate you compared to training in an academy. some teachers are really hard to approach and make them teach again the technique.

  • You guys rule!!!!!

  • Video and online learning is extremely effective because students can learn at their own pace and can watch the details of every technique over and over again. Learning online is efficient and effective. Keep it real gracie bros

  • Why that's work? Because you can watch every single move again if you need, hear again every single instruction on the video you can discuss this with friends and train with them. So thats why thats work, in my opinion.

    BJJ4Life.

  • the online journal a fantastic way of recording the finer details learnt in class. Incorporating this within the University with all the other available tools makes it an fantastic resource for learning the art. During life's busy schedules I could not learn the way I am without the University and Online Learning. It enables me to learn anywhere and at any time through modern technology. Thanks

  • For me the value of online learning would be that I can could home from training at UKGJJ in England and be able to watch the lesson I had just done in full detail. You cant always remember everything you have been taught in class and what better way to refresh your memory than to watch Rener and Ryron under no time restrictions. I had a better understanding when I went to class after watching the trap and roll videos and when returning home I could concentrate on the finer details. I am finding

  • Besides Gracie Jiu Jitsu is in constant evolution adapting itself through experience and analysis, and nowadays technology allows us students to always get the latest techniques, and a big plus is that Gracie brothers always have the intention of making learning simpler.

  • The value of online learning…

For ages it has been said that a martial art bears discipline, and this is the value best employed in online learning. It encourages the self-instruction, since people learn better by doing things by themselves. It’s easy, as the concepts appear step by step, using guides and video examples, in an orderly sequence that allows you to advance with practice at your own rhythm towards the mastery of each level.

    Andrés Garza

  • Online learning works. I have used not only in GJJ, but also for my undergrad classes. It teaches you to be self motivated because no one is after you to study or in this case practice.

  • An online curriculum is more likely to be customized to fit the needs of the learner. Academies can be structured in their teaching too, but it is more likely that a student's particular learning needs may not be consistently met in an academic setting. Online learning is convenient and can accomodate other life demands. It is perfect for me, the learner that wishes to train while not neglecting his duties to family. It also helps ensure authenticity of Gracie JJ technique and philosophy.

  • Online learning has so many benefits that you can't get inside an academy. For one, you can take your Jiu Jitsu lessons with you wherever you are. Training sessions can be any day, any time and as long or short as needed. You choose which techniques you will be learning at each session. You can replay whole lessons or certain parts of each lesson as many times as you need until you understand it and even discuss each lesson with students all over the world. & awesome instruction in every lesson!

  • Online training is a good supplement to academy training. When you have a spouse, kid(s) and a full time job it can be difficult to get to the academy as much as you like so online training is a good way to fill in for the missed practices.

  • Online Learning, is the sole contributing reason for my growth in grappling, it has never been so easy to get knowledge from the best in the world, before if you wanted to train and learn from the top players you had to spend thousands to fly to a foreign country and live there to gain knowledge, not any more online training as taken care of that problem, thanks guys

  • For those of us who live in rural places where there isn't a academy within 200 miles, online learning is crucial to those of us wanting to keep the GJJ spirit alive. Even when you live in the middle of no where! Thank you guys for the breakdowns keep them coming!

  • Online is were I started learning BJJ and the nice thing about is you can do it at your own pace and watch the video over and over again and pause and break it down as in the video

  • online-based learning definitely has its place when learning jiu-jitsu, as it allows you to access a huge variety of resources no matter what your circumstance. plus it allows you to learn at your own pace, and to review techniques that match your style. ultimately, it lays down the fundamentals as well as more advanced techniques that give your game that slight edge and unpredictability.

  • Liked (wish there was a love button), Favorited (which shares it throughout my network), I've been subscribed as long as the channel's existed, and this is my comment.

Gracie online learning is the optimum balance of one-on-one mentorship, guided self-teaching, individual pacing, consistent curriculum, ubiquitous availability, and efficient cost-effectiveness. All of these together with the Gracie teaching method, makes this 100% for real. Love it! Keep it real. ;)

  • my comment!

  • 10 people got choked out by these guys

  • I train at both a local academy, and through the Gracie University online. It truly is difficult to find such a detailed, curriculum oriented training program anywhere! The main advantage of the academy is having multiple training partners, challenges. But online learning through the Gracie University made me instantly better, more insightful, sharper, and my movements smaller and more tuned. I have literally been able to integrate EVERY lesson into my own game. "Become a student of principles."

  • Biggest advantages of learning your program online. Unlimited one on one time, what everyone wants. It allows you to learn at any time. Whenever it is most convenient for me there you guys are, ready to break down the techniques, and teach the philosophy. Not to mention the reason most students don’t improve, is they are too afraid to ask questions, this allows you to watch the technique as many times as it takes to insure that you get it. Awesome material from what I can see, keep it real.

  • Great video!

  • Awesome breakdown guys, keep it up

  • Well, online learning is effective as it bridges the gap between the teacher and student distance-wise and it can be done anytime, at any place. In this case of learning GJJ from the AWESOME guys, its the best experience one can get when not being actually at the training centre in Torance, California, and this saves the cost from the 'student's perspective and yet it is as enriching. All in all, flexibility in schedule plays an essential part.

    Cheers!
