The actress only had a contract for one year so they pretty much knew they'd be killing her character off. But because the audience didn't really like the character, they felt her death wouldn't make a big enough impact...ergo...they murdered Libby, as well:(

i hate michael so much, i laughed when he died. i felt so bad for hurley cause libby just went to get blankets for their picnic and michael shot her for no reason. i'm just so happy michaels dead.and i wish ana lucia and libby were still on the show, i wonder what the show would be like if boone,ethan,ana lucia,shannon,libby,charlie,ni­kki & paulo,mr eko,danielle,alex,karl,faraday­,charlotte,  juliet and jacob were still alive

It wasn't really about them...Michael made a deal to release one of the "others" in exchange for getting his son back and in the process, he shot both women...It was just lazy writing, imho.

I will gladly give my life to save my sister, but i will not take lives of other innocent people. i guess thats the differnce between u and me. But speaking of lost, michel could have done the same thing without killing people, he could have told that he knows ben is one of the others and he could ransom him for his son, and in doing so he could have taken all the people of the list without killing anyone.

Wow. I'm glad my vid inspired such a great debate:) I've said before that I understand that a father would do anything to save his child (as it should be) but I think he could've found a way to do it without taking the lives of two other people. (Part of the blame goes to the writers for just being lazy and not coming up with a better explanation for the killings).
