  • I think you MMA fans are being ignorant by dissing an actual traditional art. You guys are forgetti theres MA as a sport and MA as a self defense & combat. Don't talk if you're just a spectator, talk when you take up an art and learn how to appreciate whats really involved in a traditional martial art. I'd really like to see how an MMA/UFC fighter goes up against a hapkido practioner. Hapkido is a truly effective, diverse and painful art. It is one where you get better over time.

  • don't pull the finger…

  • If he walks up to you on the street and offers you his wrist - don't grab it!

  • the video stops on the last one because he cant remember what to do when someone grabs his left wrist :)

  • use some variation of this, and can promise everyone that it hurts like hell, if done by someone skilled.

  • This is similar to Aikido!

  • here's to all those poor guys who have the honor of getting their asses thrown, punched, choked, kicked by grandmasters in any of these vids and situations. lol. guys...

    here's to you. lol!

  • All i'm saying is those moves won't work in a street fight if anyone thinks they will have been watching to many movies.

  • @EICHOLZtheEXPERT why not? clearly this works, and they're not faking the pain.

if you're concerned about a group of guys, the grandmaster subdues each one in a matter seconds, so yes, it will work, unless you can explain why not.

  • You must be fast, including the adequacy of

  • i hate mma because i do not like the purpose of the sport

  • One thing that drives me crazy is people saying that a demonstration is fake because the "bad guy" didn't resist enough. Of course it's fake!!!!! Did you see them bow to each other at the start? Do you think they came there to actually hurt each other. It is a choreographed situation to demonstrate fightin styles that could be used in a ral situation. "It's fake", LOL, I guess those folks are always going to be dissapointed unless someone leaves on a stretcher.

  • יפה מאוד

  • If hes so good why doesn't her join the mma? Because a mma fighter would take him to the ground and it would be over.

  • @EICHOLZtheEXPERT You are ignorant, Hapkido has ground techniques in the curriculum as well. An MMA fighter against a Grandmaster is obvious to anyone not wearing a Tapout shirt and actually knows anything about Hapkido and the skill of Grandmasters in a martial arts.

  • @EICHOLZtheEXPERT Also small joint manipulations such as these in Hapgood are banned from most MMA tournaments including the UFC. That is why you don't see people using this.

  • @EICHOLZtheEXPERT

MMA is for big guys with a lot of strength. they take painkiller, steroids and so on.

Further MMA has rules which influences the fighter a lot during the fight. No stomping to the head, no picking in the eyes, no strikes to the groin.... no weapons! only 1 vs 1, no multiple attackers. Thats competition, not surviving.

I love MA so I do MMA but PLEASE stop comparing every shit with mma. that sucks.

    /watch?v=w9tNw-KSzVI&list=PLF167B4D130594C34

  • @EICHOLZtheEXPERT Is MMA even a martial arts by itself? MMA competitions are based on rules in which Joint locks and others are not allowed, that's why you don't see much korean martial arts in MMA. He is not obligated to join. Martial Arts is for Self defense and not for Dog fighting in the ring. Do you expect an old man to be in the MMA ring. Do you even expect Georges Saint Pierre to fight in MMA when hes 70 years old?

  • @EICHOLZtheEXPERT If an MMA guy took a Hapkido master to the ground, the mma guy would have no clue what the Hapkido master would be doing to his wrist until it's broken. Hapkido teaches moves illegal in the octagon because it's honestly just so effective.

  • that shit sucks.

wing chun is the best kung fu there is.

  • @TheMelaniehamilton It's not kung fu! It's Hapkido which is Korean!

  • @TheMelaniehamilton Are you a frog in the well.

  • @TheMelaniehamilton Luckily this isn't kung fu. And luckily this is only a demo, not sparring. And also, it doesn't depend on the general martial art style but the specific martial artist that determines the result. It was actually a wing chun guy who first popularized that theory by the way, he didn't believe in a dominant martial art but fighters.

  • FAKE but I like how the old man moves his really fast for his age

  • @irahshots don't mistake a demonstration for being "fake". no, real confrontations don't happen this way any more than boxing, eskrima, jkd, etc. demos do. but these techniques are no joke and in fact are the source of most modern mma and other sport systems. in fact they are a few vids on here of ring fights ending in broken bones because the opponent did not go with the throw. yes, this is all very practiced for safety, but i vouch, as a 6'2 , 185 pound man, if these guys want, your down.

  • @MrByaeger well, i was commenting that it's fake and it is but i'm not saying it's not effective in real combat even though I doubt it is..

  • @irahshots ur thinking its fake cause the opponet is jumping into the moves and they are not making contact. fyi if u were to just stand there and not jump with the joint lock guess what ur gonna end up with. A dislocated joint or something broken. As for the contact, the ideal is to do these techniques safely so no one gets hurt.

  • MMA means Mixed Martial Arts Right?

  • @woaiglh YES

  • its chuck norris

  • he is the golden dragon :=)

  • fake

  • He sure is being cruel to his partners. The second guy was hesitant to approach the old man.

  • offf that guy is a robot :))

  • hapki! :D

  • Are you sure he is old? WOW......

  • whooooaaaa, this guy may be old, but he sure hasn't slowed down any! lol. That was very cool.

  • Please this man would permantly disablr an mma fighter. Never underestimate anyone because of there age!!

  • how old is he in this video ?

  • Its the make up! He's an athletic young guy in disguise!

  • this guy is for real.... he will break every joint in your arm if you grab his wrist

  • is this small joint manipulation as well as larger

  • To the guy below my comment...Its not sped up...Shows how much you don't pay attention to detail. Its at regular speed. Watch the people in the background to determine the speed for your self. Its not modified.

  • Why did you modify the speed of the Grandmaster? Do you think we are so dumb not to notice it?

  • @bordereye ????????????????????

  • .....never has anyone demonstrated great skills like this one...

  • i bet wayne rooney could do that

  • what happened at the end ?? started a stroke ? rofl "cut"

  • WOW!! He's really fast!!...im sry for that guy lol

  • impressive speed

  • I lived in Korea for almost 12 years. There is a lot of crap there, but there is some real good stuff too - same as anywhere. This is definitely some of the good ...

  • omg..SUPER-ULTRA FAKE..

  • @ZuluClanCod4 What's fake about it? The jumps and spins? If he did that to just anyone on the street, their wrist would be broken because they DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAFELY ESCAPE PAIN!!!! Also, that guy should be his top student, because this is a DEMONSTRATION, and he knows how to fall.

If both of them don't know what's going to happen, that wrist is gone for about 6 months.

So, the demonstration is all planned out, but the moves are real.

  • @ogonga94 i think the pain is real.

  • @ZuluClanCod4 my god if he doesn't flip his joints would be dislocated

  • @ZuluClanCod4 martial arts noob

  • owned

  • 헉 쓉 팔을 몇번 꺽어대냐 ㅡㅡ 뒤지것네;;

  • FAST!

  • so fast.....its like the tape is on fast forward!

  • this is all staged

  • @allenjmoon so what, he looks freakin 70!

  • are you thick ,of course its a demo with full compliance and no he wouldnt be able to do that in a sparring match but its meant to impress the audience ,not be real and he does move well for an ould lad.

  • these are just demonstrations...and great ones at that:) This master knows his stuff....

  • I'd like to see the people who talk shit move like this Master when they are his age. That's great stuff. Of course the the guy on the receiving end goes with the move. If not something will break. Use your heads. It blows my mind how people can mock other styles without even trying the one they mock.

  • i loved the last one...... HapkidoFTW. =)

  • i wouldl ike to see him do that technique to a real fighter not to an actor ...

  • for real. that's definitely fake.

  • The Grandmaster is very impressive and especially fast for his age!

  • Friend of my took me to his ju jitsu(japanese) class and those throws, yes some of it is the other person jumping into the throw but its because it a way to escape the pain. One could stand there, not move and receive a dislocated wrist but no, because its the bodys natural reaction to escape pain. Its far more artful that MMA but MMA is a "Mix" of a lot of discipline so in a fight I'd take a MMA'er but a Hapkido guy would Incapacitated a guy with no fighting background. imho :)

  • @MrJohnnysako yeah if that guy wouldnt jump he wouldve broken his arm

  • @MrJohnnysako I wouldn't bet on the MMA'er. I've had 12 years of hapkido, and used to fear the BBJ guys, mostly because I didn't really know what they were about. I've been doing BBJ now for 2 years, and I realize that the Hapkidoist (a real Hapkidoist) would destroy them in a real fight because the "rules" matter, and just as a Karate guy doesn't know what to do once he's off his feet, a MMA guy doesn't know what to do once there are no rules.

  • @EmilyMohamedJohnson

never had explicit rules in MMA... MMA is just a mix, what you train is the trainers martial arts. in my mma we got great parts of systema and stick to systema "rules" which is that there aint rules.

so its hard to speak for all mma'er ... even though i wouldnt like to fight this old lad

  • Many of you who have harsh words from martial sports and arts have lack of experience or ignorance. Also when stating this art sucks think of this most arts if not all are proven in war. Also its not the art its the artist that proves effectiveness or not and sport"mma, ufc" is not an art. Sport is more likely to be less effective in a street fight as compared to an art not sport of course there are exceptions to this rule

  • the point is they werent proven in war,you would hardly ever be without some sort of weapon in war, even hundreds of years ago. Also the way they trained then was often very different to the tame pisswater we see now.

  • Can you can fight any one any time;;no pre-acting;any men any sizes any age crazy person, person on drags drank .This is not the Style is The person first if you have the killing instinct (if you don't you never be a fighter)and second how much do you training,a lot of people training 1-2 times a week and fantasize van damme. I was training 6-7 days a week for 4 years and I have the killing instinct, and I was good so stop criticize styles and put your self in the gym(not on playstation)

  • Super, the Master is doing this martial arts since he was very young, like breathing and eye blinking the art has become a second nature, very impressive.

  • holy snot he's fast! At first I thoght it was sped up, but it wasn't! wow!

  • But now? It has become more artistic stressing more of the "ART" aspect of martial arts. A lot of masters consider cage fight as nothing but a dog fight and will not compete and won't let his students compete either. Yes, you may think they are "scared" but that's up to you. I respect modern days masters upholding tradition.

  • thank you aerokicker. the point of martial arts isn't to show who can win a fight. but is rather a means through which you can live a peaceful life. mixed martial arts fails to see that in my opinion. granted they train in martial arts, but they fail to see the art of it.

they train, in my opinion, more in systems of fighting. not arts. i personally never found any appeal in mma. again this is my opinion, so please. don't say i'm passing this off as fact.

  • demonstrations are completely useless nowadays. if people want to see if a style is effective of if the "master" is any good they want to see a FIGHT. not a routine.

  • Oh, so just because Grandmasters like GM Yoon can't "fight" at his advanced age of 70, you wouldn't learn from him, if and only if you were given the privilege to be his student?

  • nope,i was just saying that demo's are becoming more and more dismissed now that we have so many fight leagues. what would you prefer; a demo or a fight to exhibit a fighting style?!

the only way a teacher can be great is if he has tested his art against real opponents and the younger generation are aware of this.......mainly due to (i hate to say this) the gracies.

  • Okay, fighting tournament is not real. There are big differences between real fights and cage fights. I'll have to say BJJ has upper-hand when it comes to cage fights because in an enclosed space with all the time in the world, of course you can slowly and progressively get close and take them to ground.

When HKD was mainly developed in the 40-60's in Korea, street fighting was way of life. And masters did challenge each other to prove whose better.

  • still, i'd prefer either a "real" fight OR a tournament fight rather than a demo. street fights are generated by anger, the attacker will have little control of himself and the odds of ending up on the ground are high.

don't get me wrong, i reserve my highest respect to any master of an art! i was just making a point; being that choreographed demo's are misleading.

  • ummmm you know what he is doing is real right...hapkido is painful ...try it out you see

  • his 90 years old

  • that last move, against the guy in the white gi, was CRAZZZZYYY!!!! this is why ppl make games like tekken

  • and to think some ppl think those old asian masters are frail o.O

  • if u really look he jumped

  • Funny part is if your arm was twisted like that you would jump too. Kinesiology, (the science dealing with the interrelationship of the physiological processes and anatomy of the human body with respect to movement), can be a real harsh task master.

  • What are looking at are concepts of hakido training not the actual fight.

I actually have been into mma fighting for quite awhile. long before that I trained in ninjutsu then moved toward mma style now I have stepped into hapkido.

The one thing the mma fighters myself being one is that your in a willing fight when you step into the ring.

When you are in combat there are no rules so the training is different and besides many of the sports forget about ki and philosphy.

  • tell me who the fuck attacks a person by grabbing the wrist? fine coreography though. truth is all traditional grappling styles will end up being fought in an mma format. gracie style of ju jitsu combined in an mma scenario is tried and proven to work.

  • you be suprized when you fight against other martial artist grap hand then they throw punches

  • I dunno. I think no matter how this guy gets a hold of you, you're finished - quickly.

  • What if there is a situation where your opponent grabs your hand to prevent you from punching? HURR DURRRRR!

  • Ha! Easy old man, I can drop you within 5 seconds with my pro Wing Chun skills.

  • ahhhhh stop that dude you hurting him

  • fake

  • ok i want to try you go walk in hapkido school and tell them you wanna be a test dummy for the day and you going to feel the wrist sensation of your life time

  • Stupid.

  • He was 70 years old at the time this was filmed.

For those making negative comments, you only wish you would be that quick and spry at that age. This man deserves the utmost respect.

  • poor kid ,i kno how he feels

  • Wow , very impressive !

  • Don't you just love how the masters use one finger to throw the other attackers all over the place 360 flips in the air. Doesn't happen in real life!

  • You're right, in real life arms are broken because the guy getting throw doesn't know how to go with it.

  • That is TRUE - if the student didn't throw himself with it, his finger/wrist/arm gets broken or badly sprained. But these also aren't real fights either ...

  • damn dont steal his pocket XD

  • poor kid

  • lol...that is one fast old man.....is this guy the original grand master?

  • nop the real grand master is Morihei Ueshiba (look it up)

  • Its about time everybody realised that Korean arts like Taekwon-do & Hapkido have their roots in Japenese Martial Arts like Daito Ryu Aiki Jitsu (Aikido) & Shotokan Karate. BanditForHonor is right in what he says.

  • ok the reason back then in Korea use tkd was to kick people horse in battle that why do hight kicks and such now you saying they copied from japan ,never seen once in karate with really agile kicks,or 360% kicks and who knows hapkido came first then aikido cause i notice in tai chi have similar move as both style but more modernized

  • dickk head thats karate.. not tae kwon do. RE RE. nd yes they ARE differentt

  • srry i thought that this was aikido but its hapkido

  • This guy has amazing skill, but this is nothing more than a demonstration...the equivalent of WWF wrestling.

  • real fight jJA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,AJ,,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,AJ,AJ,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,AJ,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,JA,AJ,AJ,

  • sick still

  • nice but........ in a realy fights

  • 1:26-1:29 is amzaing.

  • jajaja, pinche viejo mañoso que le da la mano con toda la intensión de chingarlo! jajaja

  • lol, nice having your training partner tap for 10 sec :)

  • lol

    :)

  • one taiji master can own UFC and MMA. be assured they can't even move one master of taiji.

  • the poor dude was being flung like eddy gordo from tekken when u dont know the moves and mash buttons randomly

  • holy shit, how can an old man be so fast!!!???

  • nice vid. checkout kemetian fighting on youtube and know the origin.

  • Wow this dude is like lightning fast! I thought that the video may have been sped up but after studying it there is not exaggerated movement in with the crowd in the background. Real deal!

  • man!!! he touches people and now they just naturally gippy!!!!LOL!

  • wtf..he's good..

  • LOl it's grandmaster yoon he's like 70 years old.I heard that he knocked some dude out with a snap of 2 of his fingers. He can kill someone if he wanted to 2000 different ways.

  • Look nice kind of like a dance but in the real world nobody grabs you like that so you can twist them in the air try that in the UFC and you end up punch in the mouth

  • but if a mma fighter grabs you like this, you can humiliate him with that move, IF (notice IF) you have the strengh and speed for that =D

  • I hear you But..But a Swift Punch to the Face Can Humiliate Me To..LOL But Angain it looks really Cool i just would'nt try it

  • yeah but how many times you've seen a knockout, you know the reaction of the crowd. try to image the reaction if you make him jump on the ground like that without even punching =D

  • True Knockouts do'nt happen all the time but the way a real fight happens has a different dynamic to it theres the attack...the counter attack and even the sneak attack just to name a few..I would love to see this master in a straight up match i think you would see my point like i see yours

  • well you have a point, but i might add he is pretty old now =D so his reaction is not in his prime. i once used a move to hold his arm and control his posture because my girlfriend was there and i really don't wanted to fight in front of her. once you have an advantage in speed it works pretty well, maybe not on the first try but keep dodging until the time is right and it works fine. guys who swing like crazy usually dont have stiffness in their arms at that moment

  • I know im late coming into this. But MMA, at least UFC anyway, doesnt allow SMALL joint manipulation. Yet another hypocrytical reason why many TMA stylists do poorly, they are severely limited. See they dont allow the wrist locks, the finger locks, the windpipe chokes or the pressure points or blows to weak areas. UFC is pretty much gracie jiu-jitsu with rules and punched. Brute strength and wrestling.

  • agreed!

  • when i fight against someone i know who got some kinda concept to his punches than you're right i have to punch him back. its not about mma is better than ninjutsu or kung fu or other ancient martial arts. its only about the abilitys of the user who does it =p. if you fight against someone without fightschooling and you already have the experience of using them in a real fight you can do whatever you want with them, IF you're careful enough that is

  • True On all points But i never fight anyone unskilled or untrained their at a huge disadvantage..like you said you can do anything with them you want... i perfer wrist locks as they can't see the move coming i'm about to use..because of lack of training..Its to Easy

  • UFC is a joke, it's just a bunch of judo and kickboxing...senseless street fighting. Take any grandmaster in tkd or hapkido, and any guy no matter how big he is in UFC would get his neck snapped by a simple hook kick or snapped wrists...

  • I love MMA. But you are absolutely right. There are so many variables and rules in MMA. First the fighters have hardly any clothing making it hard for joint manipulation once sweating begins. Second, most of them are slooow on there feet. They have some good wrestlers and some strong muscles. But the skill in MMA is not that great exept for some of the Judo. I have to admit, some of the Ground stuff is good, but you can counter it if you watch it or learn a bit of it. Its not unbeatable.

  • The thing if find in Hapkido is when put on wrist or other kinds of throws he or others do they dont flip and fall like that unless they jump and make it look like a huge throw. I really feel they are great looking throws but not trully real. If you all could goto Hapkidotv and check out our Videos and such on true self defense and please let us know what or how we can do even better self defense ideas

    Thanks,

    Mr Hatfield

3rd dan Hapkido, 3rd dan Ju-Jitsu, 1st dan Judo, and Kenpo 1st dan.

  • Well if you try fight that old man you will get pwned...

  • HOLY SHIT!! I wisch I could do that stuff. He is good.

  • Very nice.

  • holy shit, nice

  • oh man. that cant be pain action

this vid makes me want to go to toilet

  • that old man kicks ass!! I wish i could do stuff like that

  • this good stuff, esp for 70yr old, listen u know u never take such art you be careful no critique, because u know harder to attak these guys than looks, and plus "uke vs nage" the guy who gets thrown preserves his body and life by complying more than real on street ever would, you resist you get broken... period.

  • i sill woudent what to take that guys pention book lol

  • when are they going to introduce hapkido into the tekken world lol

  • nice fukign theatrics

  • Good video.

  • Haha if only he has a youtube account so that he can make tutorial videos for us.....

  • that had to hurt

  • JEEEEEEEZ HE IS TAPPING LET GO

  • Wow! ...all apart from the technique on 1.25, I really hate it when the attacker exagerates the move.

  • YEA UR RIGHT

  • pro

  • He is good, man

  • Hapkido is derived from 'Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu'. Aikido is related to Daito ryu as well. Brazilian Jujutsu is derived from Japanese Jujutsu/Judo with an emphasis on ground fighting (Ne waza). There is nothing new under the sun.

  • where can i found this video to download it?

  • what style is the master,s

  • hapkido i think, look the t-shirt of the student...

  • LOL ?

    fuck off

  • LOOKS EXTREMELY PAINFUL i still prefeer Aikido >> even with my korean roots

  • lol the young guy looks more and more dishevelled as the demonstration goes on lmao

  • ooh martial arts tlk! LOL! meh hapkido is ok, but i dnt use it seeming its not my style though i do learn budoshinkai karate, ju-jitsu and a bit of mauy thai here and there

  • I think that lots of people thinks in a wrong way with martial arts. Not only involves self defense. Some martial arts are quite hard and with lots of hits some others are softer. Which one is better? The one that put away all your enemys? I have never a real dangerous fight in all my life and I will probably (I hope so) have no one. (sorry problems reed this one after the above one)

  • So maybe a good martial art is that one that allows you to have a healthy live (and maybe allows u to defense your self in one or two situation in all your life). Try to find people who practice kick, muay thay or another hard martial art after their 40s and compare the level of problems with their knees, bones, etc. So you chose. Sorry about my poor english.

  • The training is intense and the masters are unbelievably skilled, but the tradition of "displaying" martial arts is always more about show than real fighting technique. That's why this guy is throwing himself around like a wrestler. It's also why the UFC champs are always kickboxing/ground fighting experts, not traditionalists. Walking like a crane won't protect you from a 250 pound kickboxer - this has been proven over and over again.

  • no, i would say that's not the "tradition". This kind of demo is pretty modern, and i would say, originated first when asian martial arts made the migration to america. If you watch old judo demos, or aikido demos, they're not really like this. They are more like seminars. I'm willing to bet that in China too, that was the traditional way of demoing.

  • I agree and I disagree. brazilian jujitsu widely used in the ufc is strong but often very reckless. while i certainly agree that crane could never be used against a person that large, sometimes, adding a bit of finess and other technique is exactly what's needed to beat your opponent.

  • This is the real ancient stuff that is so rare to find now.

  • It's actually more prevalent now than it has ever been. There are more highly trained martial arts experts in the world today than there have ever been.
