i could build a much better kit for half the price. The hand saw is complete junk, 4 foot of para cord? what are you going to do with that? the only things in the kit that are good are the multi took and firestarter. everything else can be bought for much cheaper.

they should put the stuff in a metall tin ,put some puri-tabs and a water bag in it and maybe some first aid stuff.so did BCB international. their " military survival kit" is much better than the BG kit and even cheaper.But I prefer to pack a survival kit at home and choose the items alone(got a video of my EDC kit on my channel).

i found that the ultimate survival kit to be useless. the multitool was trash and so was the pull saw. my minilight didnt even work. matches were ok and so was the firestarter. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!! worst 35 dollars i ever spent. glad i tried everythin out before i went camping. i cant believe Bear would put his name on this stuff. for a guy who wants the product to always work, the stuff he put his name on was trash.

i personnaly think a survival kit should be home made. it is less expensive and you get to choose the quality of it . so if you ever need it you're not gonna blame it on the "brit" . by the way i go with the guy who d'ont like duck tape , but personnaly i made a few roll over my flaslight and already used it to make a torch ,it burns for a long time and was usefull for me at that time .

if you buy this kit i would recommed that you do two things.

1) replace the gerber clutch with the gerber vice or gerber bear grylls compact m.t, they are the same size as the clutch except they also have a serrated blade

2) the milar blanket takes up allot of space, put it in your pack or pocket and use the space to put somethng like a poncho or energy satchets.

@madguitarist104 you unroll it, and put your fingers through the loops. the wire that stretches between your fingers is sort of like the blade for a chain saw. you just wrap it around one side of a log and pull back and forth and it cuts the log. I'm not a fan of them though. cheaper ones break easy, and even the expensive ones don't work very well.

All you have to gather food is a small piece of wire which is a far cry from a snare.. and if you think one snare is going to keep you alive your sadly mistaken, and that fishing kit is a joke, (couple hooks and sinker? seriously) That safety cord is not 550 cord and most likely has about a 10lb strength..The only thing good is the striker and the bag. and maybe the Clutch.. but you could get the same thing from Cabelas for $3 with their name on it.

I don't know about that kit. It's lacking. The signal mirror looks pretty pathetic. I don't see any water container outside of using the tiny plastic bag. For what's in that, you're far better off putting together your own kit, or using one of the others on the market and adding to it. I have my doubts on even that whistle. Nicest thing in there looks like the fire steel. I wouldn't trust my life to that pouch. Gerber used to have an awesome signal mirror that's now sold by another company.

@teyacapan Duct tape isn't completely worthless in a survival situation, but its not a multi-tasker that can do many MEANINGFUL tasks.. Outside of maybe a makeshift bandage there's noting that it can do that para-cord cant. You can also use para cord to climb, set traps, tie shelter..etc You cant do any of those things with duct tape except make shelter, and you would need allot of it. So ya bottom line, it might be useful somewhere for something but its not taking up room in my pack.
