  • (continuation) put it into a video response.

  • I've been having an odd issue with my S80 T6, where I have gaps in acceleration when I get past 70% throttle, as if I'm easing off the throttle for just as second then getting back on, over and over again. I had a misfire, and I got the ignition coils replaced, I've gotten the turbo inlet hose replaced because it looked a little mushy to my mechanic, I've done belts, thermostat, water pump, fuel pump, I'm running out of things to do. Only thing left is the TCV, what do you think?

  • @bob333336 fuel filter but it sounds like you got a probblem whit the coils(eaven if changed) The tcv will only give u bad milage lo power and boost not any misfires. Try cleaning the maf.

  • @hagenhammer actuly my bad, my friend had the same problem on his T5 and it was the TCV.

  • @hagenhammer So it IS the TCV! Wow I knew it! Changing that shit ASAP. :)

  • does this give 25 extra kilowatts

  • This could work on a 2004 T6 or not?

  • @mario022594 Very similar

  • now how do you diagnose if ignition coils are bad? i got a cylinder missing, hence the reason i changed plugs (and i am at 90k). do i just get one and try it out until problem fixed...i could just take it to volvo i suppose, but not for the DIY'er. Any reason why a cylinder would not be firing? injector?

  • @snazzykick Swap the coils and mark the one that you think is bad. If the P030X code follows where your marked coil is- then you know the coil is bad. There are ohm test you can do on them, but they are as effective as blood letting (old medical practice of cutting sick people to get the blood where they thought the sickness was out of the body) most of the time. They don't detect cracks, ignition leaks, etc.

  • Great video...changed plugs in no time....very easy to do!

  • @snazzykick Thanks. Glad it worked out well for you.

  • Thanks for an awesome video. Agree with daronadidas, looks pretty overwhelming at first glance but being able to watch your step by step vid takes away much of the apprehension. Thanks again and will be following your posts. I've saved a lot today just watching your vid on cabin air filters, for $10 bucks at Cost Less, saved 10 times that from the shop price. Thanks again!

  • @hannahbaloo49 You're welcome. Thanks for posting.

  • This video REALLY helped me out! But, after replacing the spark plugs my check engine light was still on. I took everything back off and made sure the gap was set to .28 but the light was still on and it was misfiring. I broke down and took it in to the Volvo service place and they said it was the ignition coils that were bad now and it would be $250. Should I have tried to replace these myself? Another video of this would have helped tremendously. Thanks alot for this one.

  • @slidewalker Some times the "boots" can be taped with electrical tape. You can pin point which coil is bad by swapping them around to see if the misfire follows a particular coil from cylinder to cylinder. I recommend doing this because sometimes the Knock sensor will misdiagnose which cylinder is misfiring. You can also unplug the injector while it's running and if you pull one and the engine rpms don't change then THAT is the cylinder with a bad coil.

  • Thank you so much for the video, it really helped a lot. I do have a question, can I hand tighten the plugs? Or do you suggest using a socket?

  • @Darkc0w Hand tightening is fine. Be sure they are snug, but don't over tighten them. Too loose is better than destroying the aluminum threads in the cylinder head. If your abs tighten while you tighten it, it's too tight. If they are too loose you'll get a popping growl sound later on from under the hood as exhaust gas goes around the loose plug.

  • Thanks...I seriously thought it was more complicated that that...your right, it was the engine covers!

  • @daronadidas I prefer the term "idiot hood" they are deceptive, like "fools gold". The word idiot bears an offensive connotation. As an intelligent consumer, we should be bothered by the idiot hoods and reject them. lol

  • I like that the timing belt can be checked very easy

  • @RDIzzle109 That's nice eigh?

  • Nice Volvford! lol I took the engine cover off of my 08 Saturn Aura (2.4L Ecotec). It looks pretty sharp and is actually functional. The intake is molded right into it and connects to the TB. Those things are pretty airtight...I forgot to attatch a tube and the whole car wouldn't start...crazy!
