  • Hey mrizos, could you do one with the new versions of Chrome/Firefox/IE? Curious to see which does the best job now...

  • ReMoVe Dash MaLwArE dot COM

  • Test safari. I have never (hopefully not ruining it) got a virus when using safari for windows. It always blocks things I don't want.

  • what kind of anti virus program u r using?

  • Firefox 4 just came out, may you please test it? :3

  • oh and now that I have actually watched the video.. what's the point?

  • less talky more showy.

  • god people here are stupid if they didnt notice that for the last 3

    7. was blocked

    8. was 7 and 8's url together

9.he didnt copy the new one he pasted the previous one from 8

  • @botdfbvb ...are you blind? o.o

  • just a little...u got a fuckin problem!?

  • 6:00 loool! 'Get me out of here!' better than google chrome's one which says 'Back to safety!'

  • firefox scans files after it downloads it

  • i have a hard firewall (untangle) it kicks viruses&exploits asses

  • @Ocelot152 O and btw.. u probably will get infected by exploits and drive by downloads. IE doesen't block those, NoScript does. IE only scans the stuff you download. And again.. if you aren't stupid u don't download shit.

  • @Ocelot152 Stupid =)

  • What those stupid IE fans don't unserstand is that Firefox is better than IE because there is shit tons of addons you can install on it. Addons like NoScript, Redirect Remover etc. IE is good for kind of people who type with 1 finger. They have no idea whetever the file they're downloading might be malicious or not.

IE for beginners and kind of people who type with 1 finger.

    Firefox for advanced users.

  • Using my old Vista with AV & Firefox I never had any problems.

Yet I have read today of ANOTHER vulnerability with IE (it's in the news).

It's hardly encouraging for people to go back to IE when a new serious threat appears at least once a year.

At the end of the day, it's up to the individual what browser they want to use. If they use Windows but don't have AV there's NO browser that will protect them.

  • Use the WOT plugin, it's GENIOUS

  • I like Mozila. Its good and it does scan things for me. Google Chrome does not block malicious sites. I think.

  • why don't you understand anything guys? why don't you go read opline on the mozilla site? FIREFOX DOES NOT SCAN FILES. IT FORCES THE AV IN THE PC TO SCAN THE FILES, IF THERE IS NO AV IN THE PC, IT JUST DISPLAYS THE MESSAGE AND LEAVES IT ALONE.

  • This test is inaccurate!!! Because Firefox does not scan for viruses until you save the file!!!

  • also firefox lets sites hijack your browser still. add on for that crap? you're relying on someone else to secure the browser...something mozilla should have done.

Firefox fanboys can argue till their blue in the face but it's a proven fact IE8 is a much safer more secure browser. my computer is more important than a tiny barely noticable speed difference.

  • @blue03r6 True, but fire fox has way cooler add on's, And i have faith in my Anti virus to help me if anything bad happens. IE8 Is soooo boring.

  • @blue03r6 idiot.

  • I have firefox 3.6 and it allowed a site to download a trojan like the first site you went to in the video. thankfully I have Microsoft security essentials installed and it stopped it.

to all the guys that say click save and crap..you guys are crazy. you want to scan the download first! not after it has a chance to install without your permission or knowledge.

  • @blue03r6 You cant scan inside a archive untill you un-zip it. I mean some files you can like .Zip and .Rar but not iso's and such.

  • I have firefox 3.6 and it allowed a site to download a trojan like the first site you went to in the video. thankfully I have Microsoft security essentials installed and it stopped it.

  • Firefox with NoScript, nothing can touch you ;)

  • @prisontv AGREED! Noscript blocks just about every script until you allow it :D

  • This was a horrible review. You used one URL twice, and another three times. Not a fair review.

  • "I don't know what happened with firefox... it's not working"

    does it mean something...?

  • Internet Explorer is the worst browser out there. It DOES have some things that firefox uses, but it sucks.

  • You all are funny. Firefox is a browser and the best and only thing I want form it is to browse the web and have good add-on support. There are addons that make Firefox do this but not out the box. And honestly that is the way I like it. Firefox is about making choices and customization. So this is one video I laughed though. After all I have seen Word docs try to infect computers but no one thinks Word should scan...or should it ...hmmmm.

  • Firefox scans JACKSHIT. because of this piece of crap browser i had to recover my data from my hardisk giving a whole day of my holiday. The fucking virus malware thing came from displaying a pdf file about some pagan myths in a seperate tab in shitfox. After recovering my data with a pendrive i formated and installed a clean windows and actually tried opening the same document in ie from that website. it actually CAUGHT it before it did anyharm. so firefox is dead for me....

  • woah i live in st louis

  • IF YOU HAVE A VIRUS SCANNER INSTALLED, FIREFOX SCANS IT WITH YOUR ANTIVIRUS!!!

  • but firefox still sucks! frist its slow, sucks at malware Protection. and it sucks up your CPU!! use google chrome or IE8

  • I don't use Firefox anymore, I use Opera. I'm curious to see how secure it is compared to FF, and Chrome.

  • This was firefox 3 but with addons firefox is number one.

  • Just use NoScript extension in Firefox to be safe from any scripting exploits.

  • Hi, Matt i think it would have been better if you would have hit save so that the viewers can see that firefox automatically scans files before saving or downloading. You can configure firefox so that you can't be redirected without the users permission so that takes out the redirecting

  • @videodude2010 how do u configure so u dnt get redirected?

  • @ shadow60793

    1. go to tools

    2. options

    3. advanced

    4. check "warn me when websites try to reload or redirect the page"

  • @videodude2010

He is using the defult setting

  • You are the best...

  • He skipped one, did one 3 times, and never even thought to save any of them.

  • I use Firefox, AVG Internet Security and McAfee SiteAdvisor (becouse AVG Linkscanner does absolutely nothing)

I think I`m sort of safe

  • Get web of trust too

  • @MitremTheMighty i use wot and fire fox

  • @MitremTheMighty USE SANDBOXIE you will never get infected

  • @snowsnowthesnowman nah sandboxie can get infected with keyloggers and the malware can inject to your system restore so why don't just stfu i don't trust to test malware in sandboxie...

  • @joshuapratt6 if that happens the malware gets super pwned by avira+mbam

  • THANKS FOR THE VID MATE................I will Subscribe

  • this video just makes me want me want to slap him for not hiting save just once to see it say scaning for viurses!!!

  • @KMSalex The firefox scanner is crap, It does nothing, I dont even think It actually scans them...

  • @KMSalex:

That only happens when a supported AV scanner is installed. Firefox does not feature scanning built-in.

  • @KMSalex:

    1. You need to capitalize the "T" at the beginning of your sentence.

    2. "Hitting"

    3. "Scanning"

  • @mykidsarework i typed that in a bit of a rage, not thinking to check my grammer. though i think it conveys my anger so...

  • @KMSalex I think FireFox will scan for viruses only u have an antivirus program installed

  • My Mozzila FIrefox is save since i use AVG Linkscanner and AVG Anti Virus and i payed for it :D

  • Mozilla scans after downloading

  • There is an option in firefox that stops sites from redirecting or reloading without your permission.

I think it should be enabled by default....

  • Firefox scans downloaded files after the download.

  • @antary90:

That only happens when a supported AV scanner is installed. Firefox does not feature scanning built-in.

  • Get NoScript and even with Firefox 3 none of that would of happened.

    NoScript ftw.

  • It never took 150 days to patch a hole that was actually being exploited. If it took that long to patch a theoretical exploit, who cares? I have tried all the alternative browsers except Safari and have always gone back to IE within an hour, even when I was still using IE7. I have tried every version of FF and haven't liked any of them. The downloader is horrible and initial load time is very slow. Since IE8 has now been proven to be best at blocking malware, there is even less reason to switch.

  • i've had the redirect problem with both IE8 and Firefox, yea IE8 was proven to be more effective in blocking malware, but guess who funded that case study???..............MICROSOFT!!!!!, so what do you expect.

  • Firefox uses my avg to scan all downloads

  • love ur vids their awesome

  • Where do you get the urls

  • just download WOT plugin and tells you which site is not trusted before going in

  • the last 3 links were typed in wrong. just fyi.

also, i'd definately prefer my browser to let me go anywhere and download anything, and let ME be the gate keeper to my computer. if you intentionally download and install malware, then you're retarded and deserve whatever you get.

  • Can ya do 3.5?

  • i feel so smart when i watch his videos cuz he always says its really rare to find people who dont fall for things but like i've been in those situations and didnt fall for it! w00t and im only 13 :P

  • Comment removed

  • Im talking firefox add ons like ghostery. ip look. and no script... with those add ons on firefox its better than any browser.

  • The test should be done with NO addons just like the tests with the other browsers were done.

  • Well thats because other browsers dont have the add-ons firefox has lol. firefox has an endless list of add-ons for security and more . so to properly judge firefox those add-ons should be installed and enabled .

No browser in the world would beat it then

  • As I said, browsers should be tested in their default out of the box state. Having to install addons to achieve acceptable security is a big minus in my opinion.

  • You make no sense .everybody that uses firefox mostly use the add-ons.firefox recommends you install them...

Let me guess your an internet explorer user ?

  • Yes I do use IE8. If Firefox recommends installing addons, then why don't they include them as part of the installer? That to me is a serious design flaw. Releasing something to the public they know isn't safe unless the user installs something else is kind of stupid.

  • lol so if internet explorer 8 had all those add-ons you would not add them ? haha yeah right..

And anyway even firefox without the add-ons is overall a better browser than ie,the fact ie is integrated into the operating system is a major problem .look at how many times ie has been hit by viruses etc .and firefox is open source i rest my case.

  • You can rest it but you're wrong on every count. I don't need addons because IE8 is complete without them. The fact that it's integrated into the OS is a plus, not a minus. Many programs (including Firefox) are able to utilize the built in connectivity and other elements already there. Developing these other programs would have been much harder without the IE elements being utilized for auto updating and basic connectivity. All of the browsers have been hit by viruses and attacks.

  • I also do not use open source software and do not consider Firefox being that as a plus. It's not what it's cracked up to be and even Open Office is in serious decline with many people returning to MS Office. In fact, you needed IE to even download your beloved Firefox, which has been proven to fall short in protection.

  • LMAO omg get with the program pal..Internet explorer is the most attacked browser out there..most viruses are designed for IE ..look how long it takes microsoft to fix problems with it ? it takes them ages to patch problems i think one problem with IE7 took them 150 days or something like that .whereas firefox patched a similar problem with theres in 9 days lol...obviously i had to download firefox with internet explorer lol that means nothing ..i had to download it somewhere lol. so silly.

  • And exactly what program is this? Yours and the other paranoid MS bashers out there? No thanks. MS has patched every REAL problem rapidly and effectively. Only potential ones that were not being actually exploited have taken longer. IE is attacked more because it is the most used, period. Instead of attacking MS, people should be on their knees thanking them for making it possible for all of us to even be able to be on the net in the first place. IE8 rules in the browser security arena.

  • Wow your ignorance is amazing .that has to be one of the dumbest comments of all time when you said "IE8 rules in the browser security arena".

I think you should do some research and see how many problems have been left unpatched with IE and how long it took them to fix them in comparison to firefox and even other browsers.

You do not even recognise that a Browser thats integrated into an OS is a major security flaw. that worries me because your talking like you understand computers .but u dont.

  • I know you have seen the other videos and know that Matt agrees with me that IE8 is the best at security. An operating system these days has to include a browser otherwise how could you connect to the net in the first place to be able to see or download anything? As I said, the integration of IE's core components into Windows is a plus and a huge boon to software developers. Again, MS has been prompt and efficient at patching all security holes that were actually being exploited.

  • The problem is people just use internet explorer because its part of the operating system of windows so a lot of people who have not heard of better alternatives know no better..Very few people use internet explorer again after using firefox ...You say MS were prompt and efficient ? when the track record says different ..Is over 150 days to patch all holes efficient in your eyes ? if so. i would higher your standards..

  • firefox sucks chrome best security and fastest

  • Well, I agree GC is awesome bu, dont be bashing other browsers. INTERNET EXPLORER is an EXCEPTION. BECAUSE IT SUCKS SO MUCH.

  • Firefox does not suck. it has excellent add-onds to make it even safer than it is as a bare browser ..

Matt you should have done these tests while using firefox add ons

  • firefox will scan .exe files if you download them. You click save and It opens up the download window and when its done downloading it does a scan.

  • ..... u can change the security settings in options. there are saftey addons. u have it set to not use ur anti virus. and it scan it when u click save and if its not safe will not do it.. not a good job on this vid

  • If you get the proper add-ons for Firefox, such as WOT (Web of Trust) ,LinkExtend, and NoScript, your browser will be nearly impenetrable. I have never in three years (that was the time when I started using Firefox) gotten a virus with Firefox, you just need to know what you're doing.

  • hey i got redirected to the online scan thing (the first link) but im on vista so those fake antivirus makers r stupid

  • Firefox WILL scan Exe files IF you download them. REMAKE THIS VIDEO!

  • You idiot. It uses the antivirus installed on your computer, not its own scanner.

  • how the heck it can use ur antivirus if he (i mean this video maker (i mean that guy there in the vid ^^ didnt have any antivirus?

  • It can't.

  • you make the best anti virus reviews!

    5/5

  • can u do a new vodeo but on the new verision of firefox?

  • firefox sucks... The End !

  • nemas ti pojma

  • in the clip at the 6:35, you did two urls!

  • watch?v=19LNpV3BRHU

  • OMG FIREFOX FAILED NOOOOOOOOOOOO

luck i have mywot and site advisor... lol

  • Hey, Which browser is the Safest? IE8, Firefox or Google Chrome?

  • chrome!

  • Firefox 3

  • Safest - Firefox

    Fastest- Chrome

    Least Safest - Safari

    Least Fastest - IE8

    All around best - Firefox

    All around worst - IE8

  • Apparently you're wrong according to Matt.

Also, Chrome sends out unaddressed packets to an undisclosed IP address. In other words, Google is spying on you.

  • True That. DO NOT use Chrome. Google even monitors your E-MAILS!! Pussies.

  • Bullshit.

  • You can opt out of all of those things dumbass

  • First, It needs to download the file before it can scan the file. How do you expect Firefox to scan it without you downloading it. Once it finishes downloading, thats when firefox scans

  • which is faster, chrome of firefox? for opening 2 tabs, youtube tab playing hd/hq videos and another tab doing research via google etc? anyone know?

  • FireFox!

    G. Chrome Tends to crash a lot

  • u sure about that with 512mb of ram (rofl.)

but ima get a 6gb laptop soon so it doesnt matter

  • It's really the opposite of what RiosRichard13 said.

  • my firefox has crashed a couple of times

  • i love IE8 as well

  • Firefox is really awesome with NoScript and Adblock Plus

  • wow firefox seems like a santa claus browser in that test.

  • I didn't know FireFox (w/out add-ons) allowed so many malicious downloads. Best to use WOT (Web of Trust) It'll stop bad sites in their tracks.

    Still FireFox owns the rest.

  • Avast blocked most of the URLs! :D (INCLUDING THE VIRUT!!!)

  • to protect me from all my sites from the first until the last message I appreciate me out of here

  • doesnt FF scan all downloads for viruses?

  • yes

  • It was more of a comment, not a question. Anyway, so if he did download them, it should have been detected. So this test isn't valid.

  • if you use google toolbar, or the latest version of ff, all those sites are blocked...............

  • 3.0.10 is out

  • i got it!

  • You have to dl them cause firefox scans them after the download..

  • FF has download scanning. Whenever you download somethis, after its done, it says checking for viruses...

  • I'll take Web of Trust and AdBlock Plus over IE8 any day of the week and twice on Sunday. But just like with music, it's a personal preference. I am not a novice computer user anyway, so even w/ out any add-ons would be less likely to get a Driveby download. I DO HATE all the ridiculous banner ads that IE is powerless to prevent, so to me the choice is FF.

  • Also if you use the WebOfTrust add-on for Firefox you wouldn't be able to get to those pages without a huge warning blocking your screen. So maybe stock IE 8 might be good but Firefox owns when it comes to add-on capability. In my opinion. Great videos Matt you do a lot of good for people, I send my non-tech friends to your vids to break things down for em.

  • IE can't touch Firefox for one MAJOR reason: ADBLOCK PLUS!

  • that just bloacks pop-ups, i have it so i know, it doesnt actulally block malware

  • You didn't really test the last 3. It was still basically the same URL.

  • FF is cool. IE is laggy and not... that good...

  • I had malware on my computer and after I deleted everything from my computer with Comodo,Avira and Super Antispyware. Firefox still had problems with doing a test search for antivirus, I kept getting re-directed. IE8 and Chrome were free of re- directs.

  • Pointless dude, FF won't block the inital download it will download it and then scan it for viruses and then tell you if it is a virus.

  • How about Opera Browser? I wonder why you don't test them?

  • hey guys what is netfxupdate.exe i keep getting that thing when i start up vista

  • net framework update!

  • Firefox and Chrome both share Google's database. IE uses Microsoft's database. That's the only difference. This test is pretty much pointless IMO, as no browser will prevent the user from accessing the site (they all offer a "proceed anyway" button)

IDK why this guy is testing every browser as if it in some way prevents attacks. If you're going to do that, you might as well test ActiveX exploits for IE and Firefox. Oh right, Firefox doesn't have ActiveX. Well, I guess we know who would win that

  • I agree, It's stupid since Browsers aren't designed to be a security tool.

  • and thats the point.. he is testing whether this browsers can help u regarding this malwares.. look, a browers which can also be used in antimalwre, that is rily good

  • FireFox works with your AV it doesn't really have good prevention it's self, but it uses the AV coding to block, and remove the Malware.

  • This video was very interesting. I really enjoyed it since the video was fun to watch and pretty much awesome! :)

  • Can someone help me here? I CANT WATCH YOUTUBE. I accidentally blocked an ad that this video was showing, now everything is blocked. I tried Temp. allow all this page but nothing works.

    HELP!

  • ...Reset it to default values.

  • how and where

  • go ie8

  • FF is not an antimalware nor should it be.

  • why not make a review with addons as well

  • firefox does not really have its own security built in stuff. instead it works with your AV you have installed

  • wow firefox has gone down then wat it used to be

  • nice man / well i use firefox all the time and how i see it if you have a good anti virus on ur computer u should be ok

and if u dont have anti virus i dont think is a good idia dont matter wat browser u use

and everyone should not be downloading anything if they dont know wat it is

firefox still my fav and i hope oneday they will step up whit this and i use kaspersky internet security 2009 for the ones who wanted to know and it blocks most of this stuff out but agin dont down if u dont no

  • Firefox, in my opinion, can become the most secure browser if you have the right add-ons.

  • I don't use Firefox for the security. I use it for speed and customization!

  • I fell for one of those computer scan tricks once like the ones on 2:50 and 4:18 once. I'm getting a Mac and will install Linux as a dual boot to avoid them.

  • Nice review, I will continue to use Firefox tho - for the great addons.

  • Nice review, but it is not scientific and u shouldn't make claims based on it. 1st of all, testing each browser at a different time is very wrong, in addition the browsers are not subjected to the same sites. To get a clear view of which browser is the safest, test them and the same time against the same set of sites. Ideally this should be repeated several times before you can make a conclusion. Be cautious when u interpret ur results, at least notify readers of this.

  • iv found that popups still attack me, from what my norti antivirus says

  • IE8 FTW

  • Poor show from firefox but it wont stop me from using it!

  • FAYARFAX! :D nice tests

  • Only way to protect Firefox is by using good add-ons I guess.

  • What screen recorder are you using? I like that quality. Just wondering. Thanks in advanced.

  • Wow, i am currently using Firefox but i didn't think it was that unsafe and i was actually surprised.

    Internet Explorer 8 here i come ...

  • wait did you say the Chome test was with the latest BETA version of Chomre??? do you know what version it was, because there is like 3 different versions, the stable (the usual one everyone gets), the Beta (not so stable, has been tested more, but you would have to change the channel), and the Developer (most new one, gets little tests, and you would have to change the channel to get that one as well)

So are you sure it was the BETA one?

  • i don't care if firefox blocks anything or not cuz i got KIS but what i believe is that malware don't get into your pc by themselves through firefox. i may be wrong.

anyways awesome review matt. looking forward to your BIG tutorial! xD

  • pretty good review

    firefox was dissapointing though
