Skateboards and ripstiks have their own merits. In my opinion, a ripstik is easier to pick up and more social. Also, they aren't "wannabe skateboards"; they require different motions and are built for different things. I posted the previous comment 2 months ago. My mother and I have mastered it, and two of my close friends have also purchased rip sticks. My mother wants to go to a skateboard park, but I told her that she probably would be disappointed by the rip stick's limitations as she watches others do tricks on skateboards. I still think the rip stick is way more fun, and a whole lot more safe.

I learned how to do one after spending my christmas money to get it. Took me all of 10 minutes. Less than a day later I could do just about anything on it. I have never learned how to ride any other type of board.
