  • cool clip thanks for sharing ..

  • is there such a thing as a well-hung parliamenent?

  • Great explanation, thank you!

  • Who are the Bilderberg Group?

  • this is what you call NEW WORLD ORDER happening

2 months ago this was suspected to happen yet they never saw the recession coming or the banks up to their old tricks ? utter rubbish

get a grip people, get the scum out of parliament

  • just an spectator, for the good and fairer United Kingdom-England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is to have their prime minister. Still believe LIB LAB SNP, Plyd, Green represents UK paliament since it's HUNG parliament. Tory did not win. I found it nauseting to read how bully the reporters and newspapers are.

Tory is squabling to finally offer to LibDem the referendum AV after open talks to Labour. ha ha ha ha

  • @anijijapan1975

    Correct.

  • When I first heard about this"hung parliment" I thought F*#~king good idea, where are they going to build the gallows?.......LOL.

  • this is true

  • lol

  • this guy has every right to say ; I TOLD YOU SO!! to all the parties!

  • Nick Clegg is a disgrace if he goes into a coalition with the Tories without PR, he'll have stabbed all the voters who voted Lib Dem in the back and no doubt will lose most of his parties seats in 4 years time.

  • Fantastic video. I didn't know that UCL were producing these 'mini-lectures'. Being a King's student, I am slightly jealous

  • Cut the C.R.A.P.

Tories won 326. Labour won 258 seats. LibDem won 57 seats.

I'm not Einstein, but looking at those figures I would say the Tories won.

The majority of people in the UK voted for the Conservatives..so Tories should be should be in OUTRIGHT power...that's democracy, it's what the people wanted.

  • @troikagirl

The Tories didn't win, they didn't get enough seats end of story.

The Tories might have the most seats but its clear the majority of British people didn't vote Tory and in N Ireland & Scotland they have no mandate to govern with one seat from both those countries.

  • they'd get away with a majority of 323 not 326 as while the total number of seats may be 650 Sinn Fein has 5 seats and they refuse to take up their seats and take part in parliament so not much point counting them

  • UCL have their own youtube? I wish Royal Holloway were as forward-thinking as this. Seriously, screw my university

  • Hmmm, so a majority of 650 is 325? Sloppy work Rob.

  • Majority governments suck, They are like dictatorships, No wonder the Tories Love Them.

We should have democracy all the way to the top, Within the House of Commons.

Scrap the House of Lords or have Lords ELECTED.

  • Straiiight going to UCL (L)

  • So basically some fat people are going to shout for a bit in a room until the one with the loudest voice wins. Therefore getting to sit in a big chair to be laughed at and scrutinized by the media, which in turn is controlled by the oil companies in which much of the government has shares in. Three cheers for a 200 year old corrupt government that votes for itself.

  • My dad told me that his understanding of a hung parliament, was when the total country is so fed up with wots on offer from the current politicians that the queen invites them all to the Tower of London and has them all hung in the tower ,

Then we Start again from Fresh ............. Seems like a great idea can we claim expenses to go and watch

  • @kenlumi lol, how cruel:)

  • i think that voting should be law! the goverment should pay any employer 2 hours wage so people can to get off and vote this way you do get the real opinion on what the conutry wants......... did u know fact states that if everyone that supports labour got of there arses and voted labour they would win hands down! i

  • soz.

  • why don't all the parties just all work together as one anyway?50/50 or compromise on issues

  • @tiedupsmurf because they wouldn't agree on anything...nothing would be done, for better or worse

  • It's 326 by convention actually, not 325...

  • i tell you who should lead the government. LIB DEMS!

  • Well thanks, i now understand.

  • whats the fuss about hung parliament we have a coalition government in India for years because of hung parliament thought the present GOI is no hung parliament but INDIANS respect hung parliament. No paraphernalia

  • so the queen would finally have a use then eh !!!!!!

here was me thinking she was just a waste of funds

  • @mrbassman25

I still think she is.... (:

  • @TheDrunkenTrooper Since when did Britain get the opportunity to elect the prime minister? When you go to cast your vote, do you see the leader of parties in the ballot paper or the candidate who is looking to represent its constituent. Looks to me as if you are thinking about the presidencial system, which this country doesn't follow.

  • @azzstar4 Topo right democracy should let us choose the prime minister

  • @MissxDani That idea I'm quite fond of, but we will in turn have to get rid our Monarch and in process, losing the countries most prestigious and precious heritage. We will then have to adopt the Presidential system and elect a President as the head of state. With us being able to vote for a President rather than a Prime minister. Our constitution is not simple to understand and I just hope it is reformed, that gives us clear rights and more ability to express our democracy.

  • One world government on the way just another piece of the puzzle...

  • why dont the bastards vote for what they think?

why don't they decide things on what they each think is right rather than having one party dictate things for the rest of us poor sods.

they are all dirty conspiring liars who only want to line their own pockets earn titles and screw over the people who they are supposed to be serving.

if someone wants to be a politician that should instantly disqaulify them.

to think i was going to put 30 quid on it, bugger

  • Our electoral system sucks...

  • Anyone who has knowledge of how our system works would say the same thing. We have an unwritten constitution but that doesn't mean we don't have procedures in place for a hung parliament.

  • I think Dave should play the long game...

A LibLab goverment with Gordon Brown as PM virtually guarantees an outright majority for the Tories in four years, maybe even a landslide, regardless the voting system.

  • he has atually predicted what is going on now

  • can't we just swop the words around parliament hung, coz that what all the britsih public wanna do to them!

  • good

  • These politicians remind me of a load of fish trying to get out the fishermans nets but unlike the fish these people are fighting to get in the net. The whole system doesn,t work we need to scrap the old system which is based on lords and land owners form millions of years ago and completely create a new system which is based on none profit and none celeb type politics also get rid of imbalanced and totally false news reporting.

  • And so,the next session will be composed of well hung parlamentarians.

  • This is pathetic we could end up with a prime minister that no one has voted for wot a farce

  • @TheDrunkenTrooper Well technically people DID vote for Cameron, its just that his party did not win enough seats to pass the 236 seat post.

  • Thanks for posting this and making it clearer to understand.

  • why are people being so cynical about politics at the mo'. if you don't like the status quo (hell, i want the whole lot shot) do something about it. while people sit on their arses wingeing, politicians won't change, they know the public won't do anything. make 'em work for their money. politicians can't change the world on their own, everyone else has to do their bit as well. peace

  • Exactly why we should have proportianal representation... rather than this undemocratic First Past the Post system which does not truely reflect the public's vote.

  • Within power, there is corruption. Without corruption, you have no power...........(W.Churchill)........(apparently came out with that one)!!!! and not much has changed since, so it would seem............

  • is this man talking in italian ,,, he's got me lost 0.o thank got i cant vote yet

  • I believe we're lost as a country to confusing politics....we need a pimp to the run the show....

also...did the guy memorise all of that? that's amazing....he should be prime minister....<3 (no homo.....just a tad)

  • @ChristianHolloway: Word.

  • Kinda wish we had an Obama type character to blow them all out of the water

  • Very educational, especially for us foreigners, but goddamnit Youtube, you can't even stream your highlights at 360p over my 110/5? Shame on you. Ever since HD got introduced, what little pipe you had has gone down the toilet.

  • Cool. The British have the sexiest parliament in the world. They have "hung" parliaments. Nice.

  • wow this is alot of info to take in,

  • Very well explained, thanks Professor.

  • this guy must be psychic or something, cos he got the election damn right

  • dont mean to sound like an idiot, but for me

    POLITICS/PARLIMANT = BORING!!

  • Cos im not very politicaly minded i thought id take a look to enlighten me .... Clear as mud mate thanx for that ..... Thats that sorted then !!!

  • @asalim29 He couldn't have made it much easier to understand.

  • doesnt matter who wins. we are controlled by the USA anyways,

  • @ChristianHolloway how exactly? please explain

  • this guy predicted everything correctly! what a legend of a prof!

  • @foxhounduk2k8 in my a level government and politics class, we all predicted what will happen today and it was right. it was quite obvious that it will be a hung parliament with the torys coming up so close.

  • @foxhounduk2k8 unleess he read the script of the set up.

  • @foxhounduk2k8 lol yep XD

  • cons and labour should have eleceted the right leaders in the first place,

  • 70 percent of legislation is made in brussels now. The banks owns whoever gets in. We pay 45 million per day to the E U. All the goverment can do now is increase stealth taxing and shuffle round small increases in all tax related revenue hoping nobody will notice. None of the parties have got any new ideas. Vote for change! What does that mean? Change from what to what? They all seem to want power, thats it.

  • Back door deals in smoke filled rooms, with free large brandies all round...........all in the interest of the taxpayer of course.

  • @movement26 THATS NOT QUITE ACCURATE THERE HAS BEEN A SMOKING BAN

  • this is not a parliament this a big mess :S

  • Google: takebackparliament

Take to the streets to demand electoral reform! Check it out :D

  • Funny this exactly what's now happened!

  • " i have no confidence in parlaiment "....as intended.

  • instead of having a hung parliment why not just hang all gov members and let the monkeys take over plus they dont take bungs and claim for duck houses and mars bars i say i say i say

  • Hung parliament? I'd rather see parliament hung...

  • @thebeast0011 i like that

  • @thebeast0011 Why?

  • @thebeast0011

i believe the correct term is hanged?

  • who did mr cleg goto school college and university with , what society other than masons are they all in other than all the partys taking orders from Bilderburg group

  • Its all a wwf national tv game show. We Know WHO makes the decisions > the BILDERBURG group , unlike Americans ( heavily dumbed down with floride and other chemicals ) we the British ( anyone can be British ) arent quit there yet but the NWO is trying. This means they have to play the game a bit more wisely to acheive the desired results including the stopping of voters voting by closing down polling stations .reality is an illusion

  • @deadmanssss listen to yourself, so pathetically paranoid.

  • Oh God no, don't leave us with David bloody Cameron....

Doubling uni fees and getting rid of EMA? WTF?

  • The Tories have pretty much won anyway. Even if the Lib Dems go to Labour they still fall short of 326.

  • awesome!!

All the damn kids- The Books Stop Here

  • goooooooooo libbbbbb-deemmmmmmmmms

  • ... shouldnt it be that the party with the most votes goes into power?

    politics is messed up.

  • @MooseLandVids thats a different system, proportional representation.

  • @MooseLandVids no cus even if the tories take power the other parties can just block everything the tories try 2 put through the house of commons

  • tbh conservatives are pretty against the middle class and students, so im not down with them im afraid. doubling uni fees and discriminating against middles classes for uni is harsh :/.

I voted LibDem, i am a politics student, i know what im on about. Policy wise, i would say LibDem did it for me. Unfortunately, we're currently in the position where Tories wan to go against the constitution and form a minority Government. They used to uphold it, now theyd lie about it to govern england?

  • this is really well explained without being boring - thank you to the makers

  • I am not surprised by the situation and in the present climate, do not see it as a bad state to be in. More peoples opinions shall be taken into consideration because of this outcome.

  • @moncho4u No it won't, what we need is decisive government, the publice have thoroughly rejected Gordon Brown and the Labour party, the Lib-Dems results were as I expected - an absolute joke. If it wasn't for our ridiculous electoral system David Cameron would be sitting in No10. He and the Tories have the biggest share of the vote, Gordon Brown should pack his bags and fuck off out of there.

  • OMG this guyz pyshcic

  • Did they put subtitles on because he's to posh for common people to understand lol. only joking, well explained.

  • If Labour get another 4 years I am going outside 10 Downing street with my pitchfork and torch!

  • Does this guy have a time machine? he actually predicted the future lol

  • i was looking at the figures, in scotland conservatives got almost half the number of votes labour did, conservatives got 1 seat and labour got 41, how fucking ridiculous is that? to be honest, 1 extra vote should decide the new government, conservatives should be in power.

  • @likeastarbaby Ironically the tories have been against reform to this stupid system in the past, and now it's gone and bit them on the bum

  • if david cameron becomes the prime minister im leaving this country, as soon as conservatives get in brittian loses its freedom :(

  • Comment removed

  • he explained that really well. Wish i had lectures in uni like that!

  • I know....

  • Nice explanation..

  • I reckon, hopefully not TOO optimistically, that this result could pave the way, however tentatively, towards a positive change regards people/govt communications & the needs & wishes of we the people actually being represented & with accuracy & dedication.I'm on the edge of my seat right now, I firmly believe, no matter what, seeds of change r already planted for the future for all. Legally the votes are void anyhoo. Reform!

  • i have no confidence in parlaiment

  • @fivedinners With good reason - parliament's education system clearly failed you.

  • @fivedinners i have no confidence in your spelling

  • @UphyXx Zing!

  • @fivedinners I have no confidence in someone who is unable to spell.

  • @fivedinners Maybe that's because you can't spell "parliament".

  • HOW IS THIS DEMOCRACY?!?!??!??!

  • @EpicPoseidonBeard Believe it or not, it is and we've all got to put up with this shit!!

  • @EpicPoseidonBeard

they was never any Democracy in this country

thats why this country has got to hell

  • An excellent explanation - crystal clear!

The situation Professor Hazell describes is EXACTLY what we now have (the morning after the General Election). Although Nick Clegg has been disappointed he nevertheless has an important part to play at this point.

  • @Bouncybon Spooky exactly how accurate he was.

  • damn right we're headed for a very hung

  • Great, so we have MPs even more short sighted than usual, putting their personal and party needs above the wishes of thoase who voted for them. All done in secret, all about favours past and future. Corruption and self interest will be rampant.

  • @mitchking2006 I agree bud but isent that the way it has always been?

  • Nice Vid Prof

  • I HOPE we are heading for a Hung Parliament.
