The debate is more complex than this. I mean, it would be just as bad to force certain ethnicities to NOT wear Nike shoes and Coca-cola shirts, as it would be to force them to do so. The key is in the choice. If people want to live in a culture with copy-right laws, let them do so. If people don't want to, then don't force them to do so anyway.

This ofcourse touches on the problem of how much dictatorship of the majority is in any so called democratic vote. Also a tough nut to handle...

I'm a media and communication theory student at university who also studies cultural theory, and the corporates defying the motions of the past in allowing a balance between creativity and ownership is just insanity.

Of course, there is something to be said for wanting to protect your personal property, but there should never be a trade-off where you have to suspend your liberty to create, or your creativity, in lieu of having to hand over money to do so. Supressing that seems illegal to me.

Just because someone creates something artistic, does not mean that they did not work hard to create it. Lets say your martyr Girl Talk works at his engineering job all day writing reports and doing studies. I go on to his computer and take the work he completed that week and give it to his boss...... for free. The 'hip dancing kids who just wanna have fun versus the angry corporate 'suits' who want to stop them' is a story as old as time. Teenagers need a struggle with authority I guess but its just a shame we cant find something a bit more honest. Most of what this film is saying is exaggerated propaganda. No one is stopping anyone from expressing their creativity. Its just is a desperate attempt to give 'meat' to the remix/mashup genre which by its very nature completely lacks any of its own.
